First of all, move this thread to Bitcoin discussion since the topic is referring to Bitcoin. Also, what you mean follow ethereum price? Bitcoin is much higher than ethh, how come it will follow on eth, maybe you interchange it. Eth will follow btc as it has more marketcap.

Altcoins follow Bitcoin and Ethereum follows Bitcoin.

I fail to get what makes you think Bitcoin will follow Ethereum or any altcoins? If you have logic for any future that Ethereum will flip Bitcoin in the crypto market, you can wait for this future.

Ethereum is a big, biggest altcoin but I don't think it will be able to compete with Bitcoin, in any sense. They serve for different purposes and use cases. Bitcoin is for speculation, the less speculative cryptocurrency and as store of asset. Ethereum is a platform, backbone for companies (many are scam) to run on its chain (ERC20).

To some extent it already does. When the ICO bubble burst in 2017 it caused the price of everything to drop. It damaged the reputation of cryptocurrency in general after so many of them turned out to be scams. If a big enough event happens with one coin, it will affect the price of everything.

Most probably yes it will follow up to $20k there are youtube influencers who are predicting ETH to go the same direction despite the transaction fee which is a hurdle to its network growth. They really need to make it faster otherwise the BSC or even ADA will takeover the position because they tend to make it faster.

we don't know for sure but many big investors actually bullish about ETH and what I mean by bullish is really bullish about it.
Maybe they just figured out the real use case of the smart contract embedded to ETH blockchain or something else but many are actually interested in ETH. Now imagine if the PoS rolls out it solves energy consumption problem that means there's no holding back from using it just because we want to be called "go green"
but whatever happens I think btc will always keep its value since most of the investment also go to btc.

Everytime ethereum is always follow bitcoin price, coingecko always rank eth as in number two and the number one is always btc, because btc is the center of the crypto market so if btc failed ethereum and other token will also failed that's it. I think this will not going to happen since the price of the two coin has a big difference eth is low value compair to bitcoin and it is already known that bitcoin is always rank #1 followed by eth, so then i don't believe that in the future bitcoin will follow eth price. Bitcoin is is still the crypto coin king and it is the coin that we can all put basis with regards to the crypto market situation because if bitcoin failed and fall into zero value all coin will maybe follow so i think bitcoin is always the best coin.

Try to analyze the movement of the market and you will find out that once bitcoin dumps everything will follow so expect that it will the same with ethereum to. Also before we can see that scenario what you said Eth should get a huge adoption or convence the bitcoin supporters to shift their investmenr unto them. But for now since bitcoin is the face of cryptocurrency I doubt it will happen.

If you mean Ethereum will beat bitcoin position in the future, and all other coins will follow Ethereum price movements, I think that is not possible. Bitcoin will remain the most prominent cryptocurrency as long as cryptocurrency exists, and bitcoin will always be the main attraction.

Ethereum is correlated to the movements of bitcoin and it is not the other way around, this has been true since the existence of ethereum and it is true for almost every coin in the market except stable coins and coins that have not been on the market long enough to draw conclusions from their behavior if we compare it to bitcoin.

The only way this could change is if ethereum took control of this market and became bigger than bitcoin and got more support from the community, which is something incredibly unlikely as you may know already.

It seems that DeFi is going to be that big event that you might be thinking of with a few already showing their true colors, if people can tell the difference, it will be a different story but I won't worry too much that bitcoin will suffer the same fate as the 2017-2018 because a lot of things have changed, with more institutional investors and being considered by more people, we might be on the right track.

Why should bitcoin must follow Ethereum or any altcoin et.al? I'm not a hater because I'm also an investor of Ethereum but you need to understand first that the whole market follows bitcoin.

No matter bears or bulls, it's been proven that every cryptocurrency is following bitcoin. It should be Ethereum and all of the cryptocurrencies are following bitcoin that you have to understand and bitcoin will never follow any altcoin in pricing because he's the mover of them all.

That won't happen, altcoins always follow Bitcoin trend no matter how good that altcoins is simply because Bitcoin is the king and we always have to respect Bitcoin. We might see BTC pause on its trend for a while since it gives time for Altcoins to follows the Bitcoin trend but after that altcoin season, we always go back to Bitcoin and continue the trend until we reach the moon.

ETH might grow a lot in the future because of its upcoming updates but that is not enough reason to take over Bitcoin, and force Bitcoin to follow the trend of ETH. We all know over the past years Bitcoin dominates this market and we always follow that trend, I still believe that despite of the growing competition in this market, Bitcoin will remain superior and its really hard to challenge BTC for some reason.
