Well, I never experienced it myself but, I heard some users assumed there ranks by default and never knew what it felt like to be a newbie. Especially those that created an account non the platform as early as 2009-2015. The new generation of Bitcointalkforum started mainly after then especially with the introduction of the merit system in 2017 to ensure quality posting on the forum.
Legends of that era are the once that can actually tell as to how much work that is required to grow in the ranks available on the forum. For a fact, newbies are quite fortunate when it comes to getting your first 1-10merits as, ranked up users often lowers there judgemental standards. If this isn't done, it would be very difficult a newbie to archive even 1merit.

You should probably aim for a higher dream, buddy. Outside signature campaigns and bragging rights, there's really nothing much "up" here. We all have the same access to information in the forum, and we have the same amount of freedom to discuss about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. Having a lot of merits(hence a higher rank) is just a sign of having a good amount of knowledge in this space.

This is great!  I really appreciate. This kind of post gives confidence and motivates.

Yeap, hence why you should specifically focus on gaining knowledge and not necessarily achieving a higher rank. Don't get me wrong, I love Bitcointalk, but a higher rank won't get you much anywhere, but high levels of knowledge would get you almost anywhere.

I mean, we all want to rank up and stuff. But am I the only one out here who thinks these kind of posts are quite sketchy, as if there is something else behind the reason of their writing? I mean.. besides financial gain, there is not much you can do in the top ranks without working hard but I feel like this has to come from the inside of your own heart. Never felt the need to be "inspired" by other members... if you enjoy this place just like any other forum, you'll earn your own spot in here - you don't have to feel like you're working for a top-tier spot. It comes by itself... I mean no offense but every time I read these kind of posts I get a weird vibe, lol.

We've all been there, the zeal to rid ourselves of the inferior Newbie status :p

There is nothing wrong with wanting to rank up and reach a higher rank on the forum. The reasons could be bounty campaigns or signature campaigns, just like you mentioned. You wear a signature yourself, and so do I. Why are you in a signature campaign? We both like seeing those incoming transactions in our wallets at the end of each week. I assume, OP would like that as well.

Other reasons include gaining respect and recognition. Seeing that the effort you put in to create and share content is appreciated by other members. That motivates you to keep going and trying even harder.

Assuming a newbie makes a good thread/topic/discussion but then s/he does not engage nor care about the replies of the people wanting to discuss with the thread and then just moves on to make another thread.
It becomes like a merit fishing in order to reach the goal of ranking up, thus making them able to join signature campaigns, rather than posting something that encourages engagement/discussion for people wanting to share their thoughts with the OP.

Can't really blame them. Where the money is, that's where the opportunity arises. Bitcointalk is no exception.

We can still have relaxing conversations, but it's mainly Bitcoin-centric (let's exclude local boards) with lack of diverse subforums so naturally conversations are steered towards those associated with bounties and campaigns. Meanwhile, Off-Topic is a special creature of its own...

And about newbies creating one topic after another, you could simply add them to the ignore list or just bear with them. Either they don't get the Merit they always wanted and quit or eventually learn how to flow along and become one of those rapid earners.

Only a handful would, and honestly, only a handful of already ranked up accounts would remain active should there be no incentive to post on the forum. This is a natural behavior, users here like Bitcoin and wish to discuss about it just as they would update their social media profiles, but the campaigns here brings a certain level of commitment to read and make useful posts, more than I see on some other discussion platforms with no avenue for earnings. This creates a sort of chicken and egg situation, as most bounties choose bitcointalk cause of the high traffic, largely generated by spam.

This does not encourage discussions but is the reality of the situation. Most of the members replying to the "discussions" also do not bother coming back to check on the thread but ony try to meet their weekly quota.

You should not only apply patience on waiting for different cryptocurrencies price to grow, if you have been in the forum for a while you clearly know how much perseverance is required for you to achieve a high ranking. Before, you can rank up through the number of activities but now, you need to gain merit from other forum members before you can level up. This somehow filtrated the real ones who posts and comments and those who only does this for post count. Other than the benefit it gives once you join a bounty, having a high rank gives you the reputation of being a useful and helpful member in the forum.

Thank you everyone. I have been reading replies, and they are all awesome. I will never forget this trend, I would always return here for some guidelines because some older members have done noble already through their replies.
But, I have some questions please.

It's sometimes difficult for me to know when there are replies on my trend. I don't know if it's because am not used to the forum. Is there no way a notification can bimp to me if there is a reply to my post.

I understood that my post should not follow one after the other, without another's post interfering (I don't know if I have rightly conveyed what is in my mind) Assuming I am offline, before I come online, I will meet like 10 replies, would it be wrong to be replying the posts serially. All of the people who are experienced or with a higher knowledge were once a newbie before they got in that position.

There's no such thing as an instant success or high rank, you need to work hard for that in order for you to be in that position.

Don't mind the struggle, learn how to overcome it and achieve it as soon as possible.

Don't focus on earning merits, just focus on your goal and your duty here in our forum.

Dont get trigger with other high rank members here in forum. You have privilege even you are newbie to speak and discuss knowleagble things about bitcoin and crypto.
Many members here that are high ranks now are also kust like you before mate. Learning and keep making mistakes but thats fine. Along the way youll correct some of those and be recognize as one of the reputable member of thsi forum.

Remember rank is just a bonus, you can even surpass them in knowledge and charisma once you discuss amazing thing about bitcoin. Goodluck with your journey.

There is no forum based notifier when you are quoted on the forum, but you can use one of multiple mechanisms:
a)   Use the forum’s search function at will (which is what I do):

Concerning your second question, you shouldn’t really post multiple posts in a row on the same thread, especially if it’s in a very small timeframe. It you want to answer to 10 people on the thread, you can quote the relevant part of each of them, and answer below each quote, providing multiple answers in a single post. If the post ends-up being rather long, you may reach the post size limit and need to post a couple in a row (reaching post size limit should justify this).

I see that you already created a thread in Meta about your account being hacked and you were advised to get in touch with the account recovery team. If you have access to the original email you registered the account with + you can provide a signed message from an address posted somewhere on the forum (an unedited post), your chances of a successful recovery are high. Did you do all that?

When you post in a thread, that thread gets added to your watchlist. The newest replies are shown on the top. Just search the first couple of pages of your watchlist by entering CTRL+F KingsDen to see if any of the threads created by you have some new replies. That wont show you if someone replied to one of your posts, just if there are new replies in your threads. That's how I do it.

To see if someone mentioned me or replied to one of mine posts, I use LoyceV's notification bot. Instructions on how to sign up are in the 1st and 2nd post.

You have only three messages, and you conclude that experienced participants do not quite treat beginners correctly.

Which could only mean we have an alt here or someone trying to play the pity game. The funny thing about most account complaining about them not recieving merit is when you try reviewing the account, hardly will you find any outstanding contributions. Mostly average post you'll see and yet they go around crying they're not been merited.

Instead of chasing after the merit OP make it get attracted to you due to your contributions, if you observe closely, we have members recieving merits in their numbers not because of some privilege instead as a result of their dedications to they forum.

All their posts are always construction and worth reading. I doubt you won't get the appreciation you deserve if you can level up your game and make it become a habit and not merely a disguise to get rewarded and rank up.

When you post in a thread, that thread gets added to your watchlist.

You have to enable this first: Click Profile > Notifications and Email > Automatically watch topics after replying to them.

I don't understand why anyone would not use the watchlist. You can configure the watchlist to be exactly the same as "show new replies to your posts" by configuring your posts to be auto-watched and adding your posted-in topics to your watchlist. After this is done, you can unwatch topics that you don't want to see.

Ranking is just an award that you achieve even I don't want to be legendary but want to be knowledgeable about bitcoin and provide the latest education to post on this forum so that it will attract a lot of interest by other members.
The ranking is how we have reached the peak of the highest score where people give us merit for the insights given and make them amazed, that's what I want the very broad knowledge I want.

You have a good example of goal that you wanted to achieve but what about op and other lower ranks?. I always read in a thread of a lower rank like newbies, jr. member or even member wanted to rank but did not set a goal to achieve. There is a reason why this forum is created which the answer is very obvious and that is to RSL (Read Share Learn).
