NEW: El Salvador bought another BTC for its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve today 🇸🇻

They now own 7,817 BTC!

I really like this strategic reserve by the government of El Salvador in fact, I also like the way Bukele governs the country and the war he has declared on criminal gangs. Reviving a society lived with corruption and crime was no easy job, and he has succeeded. I don’t know whether Bitcoin will ever become El Salvador’s main currency, but it certainly remains an economic and social policy experiment of enormous significance, as well as a first rate case study for Bitcoin.

Perhaps Nayib Bukele has seen how to succeed by going against the people and the media. After taking office in El Salvador, the country's president has made several single decisions, all of which were successful, but the most notable of them was accepting Bitcoin as a legal tender. Basically, the country's president made such a decision by taking advantage of the education level of the people of this country because he knew that such decisions in countries with so many educated people would have a temporary negative impact but a long-term positive impact, and that is what happened. Those who previously opposed or criticized the president's actions are now praising them. Bitcoin is regularly seen in the country's reserves becoming more prosperous. As the first country in the world, El Salvador has directly legalized Bitcoin in their country and accepted it as a legal tender. Since accepting Bitcoin as a legal tender, the number of tourists in this country has also increased relatively. In other words, it can be said that his Bitcoin-related decisions were correct.

Overall though I think we will have to wait and see. While more tourists and building up the reserves of Bitcoin are positive things, how much benefit is that actually giving everyday people? Holding BTC can be profitable while the value goes up, but the value can also go down. Just because there are more tourists coming into the country does not mean they are doing it because of Bitcoin. I think El Salvador is quite an interesting experiment to see how things work out, but its still early days so we cannot be sure everything was the right choice.

This is not about making  the right choice when it comes to Bitcoin adoption. Accepting Bitcoin as a legal tender can bring fortunes to a country like the way we have been seeing so many tourists traveling to El Salvador for vacations spending time there since the government has also worked on security so that visitors spending their holidays will be safe from pick pocket and thieves.
El Salvador has their own local currency and adding Bitcoin as an alternative currency was one of the best decision their government made that increased the GDP of the country as investors are bringing businesses and more dollars to make their economy a bit better than what it used to be before.

Did you know that Bitcoin has not been legal tender in El Salvador for some time? Did you know that the country has a debt of over $30 billion, Bukele alone added $5+ billion during his term? In the long term, the country may benefit from Bitcoin, but at this point they are not even legally allowed to buy Bitcoin due to an agreement with the IMF.

The El Salvador president, Nayib Bukele has done a lot in moving the country Forward by its numerous achievements through bitcoin adoption, can also look at the series of alleviation programs that targeted at establishing every citizens to how they could engage the use of Bitcoin on their daily economic activities, that does not stop there, you can also see some diverse opportunities that have been granted for school children to learn about bitcoin education in their various learning institutions, and they have also been investing into Bitcoin from time to time and holding, if you have been to El Salvador in the last 3 years and revisit the country today, you will count on series of achievements that have taken place as a result of Bitcoin adoption in the country.

I do call it a Bitcoin tourist country to visit.

I wouldn’t say that Bitcoin was the specific "magic" factor that transformed one of the world’s most dangerous countries; into one of the safest; I believe that is a result of political management.

Furthermore, I recently saw an analysis regarding remittances (a key selling point for the implementation of Bitcoin)  which shows that the year-over-year growth hasn't kept pace; specifically, the growth rate in 2025 was better than in 2026, even though there was a 3% increase, according to the source below.

Source in Spanish: https://www.eleconomista.net/economia/cuanto-ha-crecido-el-envio-de-remesas-hacia-el-salvador-hasta-septiembre-de-2026-20261026-0003.html

We need to look at things as they really are. The idea of the country being a "Bitcoin tourism" destination isn't really accurate; based on information I’ve seen from various influencers, even the number of businesses that accept Bitcoin is quite small.

While it’s true that technological investments are arriving (thanks to the government’s institutional support for the tech sector) when it comes to Bitcoin-related tourism, all that really remains is the historical fact that it was the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender, along with a few associated elements.

Even the taxi drivers who used to accept Bitcoin are no longer as visible as they were back then, and the Bitcoin ATMs; along with the "Chivo" wallets—are currently undergoing a transition.
