This site is already responsive, so there is no need to make an APP. People can access it from their phones with any explorer. And a lot of users want to stay anonymous that's why the forum allows anyone to join from a proxy or from TOR. But if we join from our phones then the anonymity will be gone. That's why isn't a good idea to use the phone for the forum.

And the biggest risk about an App is for the ones who lose their phone and get their accounts compromised that way.

I also don't think that need . Because The bitcointalk forum has all the criteria  what exactly a forum should be. And I find the forum website to be very light weight, using apps there I think would be heavy for phones, so I don't think it's necessary.

I am agreeing with you that there is no need to these things for forum. I also think it can be less secure from forum . And it's already nicely responsive for phone and And I think it's not good to do all the work here on the phone, basically you need to spend more time on the PC to work well. So I think we shouldn't take headache so much about creating mobile apps.

You need to make this forum respostive with the mobile interface and not necessarily create an application.
Many people complain that they zoom in and out of the screen several times, so they do not get a good experience when they browse from the phone.
mobile apps need trust and too many things that current forum cant apply for it

I agree that the forum needs to be more mobile responsive, I access the forum predominantly
through my smartphone and have done for years. I wonder how many others do so?

Bitcointalk accounts have a certain value not only because of signature or bounty campaigns. I believe, the third-party app for using this forum is not a good idea. Some users even use two accounts, one for regular posting and one from "other" devices. Check LoyceV, he also has a LoyceMobile account just to remove any possibility of compromising the main account.

I wouldn't install an app, even if it was created by the forum. I don't worry much about my mobile account, but I wouldn't risk compromising my phone.

If something new is to be created, there should be a good reason faulting the existing one.

That said, accessing the platform on the web has posed no issue or challenge. I bet using an app for this purpose, a lot of people will be experiencing slow speed and heavy data consumption considering the size of data the App will need to load. If the App is to work smoothly at a desired speed, the size would have to be huge. Downloading the App to phone will thus take up additional phone space, which is right now avoided. Above all, what about security of data?

And all kinds of benefits can be obtained from these apps which make BTT these apps the most highly rated among all the apps on play store.

Problem:

1. If all the BTT information is kept in apps then we have to face a little problem. Because if all the information is kept in one app then it is huge amount GB The mobile will not be able to handle it.

2. That mobile is more likely to hang because it will never handle so much space as it is in chrome Browser apps here playing a little saving in mobile.

3. Bringing in BTT apps will face a lot of problems which I think is not desirable at present.

Good to have it since it will give us more convenience while we are away and only using our phone. But this is not necessarily needed because still we can access thus forum by using our web browser and besides this is just another huge work for them if they create and maybe this will also cost a lot of money.

 Forum is running good already so I think everything still fine here.

If you want, you can make a read-only alternate frontend to Bitcointalk.org, possibly with old/archived data, and then make this a progressive web app so that you don't have to pour hours learning more programming languages for each mobile OS. HTML/CSS/JS will suffice here too (but not the kind that this forum uses).

I do not support the idea of building a mobile App for the Bitcointalk Forum, looking at how things have paved way over the years, you will understand that creating a mobile app would bring more damage to the community than good.

As far as I know, there's no specific target, nor additional features, the processes here are very simple and really lite, no complications of anything, creating a Mobile App will lead to cronning the app, and scammer can easily take advantage of that.

With that being said, Bitcointalk forum is in good hands, good shape and perfect in all of it's activities, as of today there's no resemblance anywhere, It's simple on a mission and standard of its own.

Don't see any damage to be done not unless if they change the UI or other things upgrade which eliminate how easy to use the forum the same what we are using right now. But the same like other user who disagree with this idea I will also join them because there's nothing to be change here nor to have an upgrade since this is not really needed. Forum is accessible on any device you are using so creating an app will just be additional work for them and it will cost a lot of money to build this one.

It would probably be beneficial, but I can't see it happening any time soon, at least officially. Dare I say it; I think eventually something will be developed for phones. Although, that's just my personal thoughts, don't think I have insider information, because I don't .

However, I think that all depends on if/when the new forum software gets released. I can't see it being done for Simple Machines Forums. That would be a waste of resources, unless the new forum software gets pulled for whatever reason.
 

When you are away from your home and work ....you still want a good experience visiting Bitcointalk.org... so why not have a App specifically for those instances?

I don't login via phone, but do use it to browse exactly in these situations, in fact I probably do most of my reading on it. However, the browsing experience without logging in, with a normal browser is absolutely fine. I can see smaller phones having an issue, but if you've got a somewhat large phone, or use a tablet then it's absolutely fine.

The problem comes with posting, but if you aren't logging in you don't need to do that.

    Why did you think that mate? Then I don't think what you are saying is necessary, because even if we are using a mobile phone, we can still open an account here on Bitcointalk through the browser.

Also, this bitcointalk is not like other forum platforms, this bitcointalk is exclusive for crypto enthusiasts who want to have ideas and knowledge about cryptocurrency.

There is a mobile app for Bitcointalk I have used it on a few occasions during the early days in the forum, but to be honest I don't enjoy the mobile app compared to the website site, because the browser website gives more graphic overview that is user friendly and appealing to our sight compared to accessing bitcointalk on the app. I prefer to access sites using the browser URL because it gives you the full feature of the site that may not be accessed using the apps, the only way an app can be preferred is when the app is designed to serve a specific purpose or introduce a new feature that can be exclusive to the app, but since this is not the case most time people prefer to look away from downloading and using app and bitcointalk is not too heavy or multi-feature to warrant the use of the app as mandatory for accessing its feature.

I'm more comfortable using bitcointalk using a desktop or laptop than a mobile phone device. I feel more like what I'm talking about here in the forum compared to the mobile device via browsing.

Why? don't you have a desktop or laptop? though, there is no problem if you use a mobile phone when you open bitcointalk. Oh, maybe you are referring to the Bitcointalk that can be downloaded from the play store or apps store because if you ask me, I don't think it's necessary. This browsing style is now better.

If this app is put on the app store or playstore, we could be onboarding more members onto the forum which could indirectly benefit the crypto ecosystem but like any other big forum name out there... It's best to keep it as is.

Btw a web based app wouldn't be a bad idea as this wouldn't be any different from what we have here but having to build a app that needs a database and the alike would be big no as this would make it a target for possible data breaches.

I see a lot of people saying that it is a bad idea, but what device is with people 24/7? ===> Answer : Their Mobile phone...  I personally think it is a great idea, if it is well executed. I have used different browsers on my Mobile phone and it is a frustrating experience with all of them.

Also, most young people do not even use computers anymore... but they are seldom more than a few yards from their phones. Why not just hire some good developers and just create something more user-friendly that are targeted at Mobile phones.

Of course that's a good thing, but try to pay attention to what impact it can have that can damage the forum, with an application that people can easily access with their cellphones of course this is good because it will attract a lot of people to the forum but on the other hand this will cause the focus of discussion the forum becomes a mess because new people rarely read the forum rules so more administrators/managers have to be added to manage and supervise the forum.
However, mobile phones have limited features that make it difficult for readers and translators to understand certain languages meaning that it is not as complete as using the web instead of an application.
I think I'm still very comfortable with a web forum like this because not just anyone can access it and it's managed properly.

The creation of bitcointalk forum as application may not be a wrong idea but just maybe it's not yet necessary if not the appropriate persons in charge here would have taken that into consideration without much repetition of this same kind of thread about making the forum as a mobile app.
If you ask me, I'll say it's convenient the way it is and I see no glory or advantage an application would bring about.  Mobile applications on app playstores are always requiring for updates of mobile apps even after download and for me it's always boring for me doing that most times.
