I don't see a correlation between money and happiness.

The correlation (first chart) is actually quite striking, particularly on a logarithmic scale.

There is also considerable evidence (second chart) that the standard deviation of happiness within a population drops as per capita GDP increases... i.e., as the average wealth within a country increases, the levels of inequality of happiness reduce. We might expect to see this in poorer nations, as people are lifted above the level of mere subsistence... but the trend is valid in developed nations, too. This for me is somewhat counterintuitive... given rising inequality within developed nations over recent decades, we might have expected the lines to run the other way (although the chart does stop at 2007). There are of course many other potential factors to consider; I have several ideas, but I don't want this post to turn into an essay, so I've leave it there Cheesy.

The topic is quite interesting. In our country there is a famous saying on Facebook as follows: "We have 100 different problems, but only 99 problems can be solved with money". The meaning of the saying is the role of money in modern life. Money makes everything easier.
Let's try to imagine the application of money in life. love for example. Love + money will be a sublimated love.
Family life with money will be a life without worrying much about living expenses.
Don't say money has nothing to do with happiness. Think of your 40-year-old at a big high school meeting, without a house and a car compared to everyone else.

You cannot buy happiness but you can use money to be at a better type of living which won't put you at distress in life. We've got several descriptions about being happy and relating it to money and it varies.

But for me, I'll be happy if I'm living financially free and that's what I want. I've got more time to myself and family and that's the description for me of happiness. Being able to enjoy life with them and at the same time, I'm already out of the rat race.

I don't see a correlation between money and happiness.
In my country we use to say that money doesn't buy you happiness. I would rather have a family that loves me than to be rich.

You would rather have...so it means you don't have either, and at this point how do you think you can say it for sure?
As for that saying, maybe it doesn't bring happiness if you're a total moron but in all the examples people like to give as arguments I see only people that got rich, then lost the money they won, and end badly. So basically it was losing the money that got them unhappy. Well, maybe money won't bring you happiness but I challenge you to find someone who thinks poverty brings anything other than gloom and despair.

We all love to quote those sayings, act all poetic and righteous but I wonder how many of those claiming money won't make them happy would stop at stabbing their own relatives in the back for a couple of millions? Yeah, it's easy to say now I won't do it, but keep saying the same with the money in front of you!

This for me is somewhat counterintuitive... given rising inequality within developed nations over recent decades, we might have expected the lines to run the other way (although the chart does stop at 2007). There are of course many other potential factors to consider;

Pretty simple, the difference in what makes you happy is also proportional to the income.
A user that has bought his first 10 yo car with $2k car is happy with it, it makes noise, it's not comfortable, it can't go over 90, but he made a great deal, he is happy. A guy buying a 200k Mercedes finds one day that the tire pressure indicator on one of the wheels is off, he goes infuriated to the dealer and demands it to be fixed immediately cursing all day for the time lost. It's more about expectations and self-beliefs than actual happiness.

Same for people, for some who have been living all their life in poverty finding a 10mp2 home and having in reserve enough money for food for one year is awesome, for somebody in Europe who had never experienced poverty or job insecurity not affording one year to travel abroad to some tropical island because he has to pay tuition for two kinds can make them unhappy.  But make the first case live in the same conditions as the second for 10 years and after that having just 10k in his savings would also make him distress and discouraged.

When Joy, Peace of Mind, and Security are all present, it is fine as long as our movement doesn't negatively affect others.

~
It's no secret that a man's happiness can be measured by how much he earns
Men who have a lot of money are definitely more free in making their choices and also have low life pressure

I'm not here saying money is everything, but everything costs money
When you have a lot of money, there are many things you can control

There is a popular opinion in the locale that "A man who has money doesn't easily get angry or offended, lol". This statement goes the other way as well, that "A man who doesn't have money is easily offended by everything and everyone".

I have put this statement on analysis a lot in mind, trying to watch my mood and correlate my happiness with the amount of money I have each time. Everytime it seems like i have overspent and almost becoming broke, there is a feeling of irritation and sadness that comes with it. Also when i get some credit alerts, there is an associated joy.

I know it is not proper to tie your happiness to finance, but i did some research into the subject and found a study that was conducted with the result that happiness increases with the amount of money one makes up until a point  where there is no greater degree of happiness from making money, but unhappiness if ones income drops beneath that range.

(See study here - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/20/how-much-money-you-need-to-be-happy-according-to-wealth-experts.html)

What is your opinion on the subject of "money & happiness"?

Money doesn't necessarily bring happiness but what it does it creates comfort, someone who does not have money is constantly is searching for a way to get it, he is always thinking about how he or she will be able to eat or sleep tonight, and therefore creating anxiety that looms over and keeps your mood down, and a rich person does not have to think about that which creates a sort of comfort and allows them to live their lives as they want, but then again every person has their own problems, and with money comes other issues and other things that create anxiety, but that is just my point of of view.

What is your opinion on the subject of "money & happiness"?
It depends on the people itself. I have been encountered with rich people band they said they can't get pleasured easily because they can always buy stuff with their own money. while normal people have dream to buy stuff and if whenever they get a chance to buy that stuff then they have achieved stuff and get pleasured. Somehow I feel it whenever I have money to buy stuff.

It's definitely a good feeling if you are financially stable and enjoying the good company together with your family. But only few people have achieved this goal because the truth is most of us have different issues about money and family.

Happiness does not only come from finances because even poor people who don't have good finances are still feeling happy despite of their status in life. So i must say, happiness is built within. If you can be happy with small things around, then there's no need for you to earn huge amount of money. It's a matter of satisfaction and contentment even in small things.

What is your opinion on the subject of "money & happiness"?
This is 100% true. When I have close to zero money and having hard time surviving life, there is really less stress in my life, because I have a certain goal and that goal is to survive, as long as I can survive then there is nothing wrong in my life and I am happy with whatever I am doing.

However the moment I have a bit of excess money, I try to do something with that money to make it even more and that creates a huge problem for me. Just this past year thanks to crypto going up I ended up with a good amount of money for me, it is nothing compared to many people but for me it was a good amount, and it was one of the hardest and most difficult periods of my life. Thankfully .... I lost it with this drop and now I do not worry about anything, am I capable of living until my next paycheck? Yes, then that is more than enough for me and I am happier.

I agree with you. Nowadays, you can almost have no means of survival without money, due to this, some resort to criminal activities, even those who are supposed to be really good people gets left with no choice but to resort to such things. But even with these facts, I still believe that theost valuable things in life van never be bought. Also, I kind of disagree with that popular opinion of yours since I have witnessed for myself a bunch of rich people being easily angered and offended because they know they can get away with almost anything and so even with the slightest mistakes, they tend to take it very seriously not because of the offenses but because they want to show off their capabilities. At the end, it all just comes down to how your parents or guardians have raised you. Money can't buy everything and genuine happiness are often seen on poor people.

Every individual has a different perspective regarding money and happiness. For me, it is not mandatory that if I have money I will be happy but no doubt they are related somehow. I feel I am more comfortable having money as this is important to live a healthy life and health is one of my priorities. Indirectly it is also making me happy because I love to eat good food which also keeps me healthy. So, you see all these are interlinked in this current world.

Money can easily be tied to happiness and is only natural since most of the things in this world are driven by money. Heck, even lovelife can be a piece of cake with money. But honestly though, there is no better feeling in the world than being satisfied by with what you have(not in an unproductive way obviously). That freedom from the anxiety of being on top of others or maintaining your spot on the social hierarchy or status. That is why I am so amazed by keanu reeves; by the way he loves his life simply yet full of happiness and satisfaction.

This is very true. Happiness is a state of mind where it depends largely on the person himself. He may not have the riches, but he is already contented with his life and be happy with whatever he has. But for some, even if they have enough money, they are not happy with it because they want more. But it is always better to be financially stable so you are not always in stress where to get money even for your basic needs. It is hard to be happy if you don't know where to get your next meal for your family.

Assuming that you don't have a background depression or something of the sort (so that nothing will make you happy), and aren't going through some serious stuff, like illness, family problems, breakups, money does actually makes things better.

Another important thing is being a well-rounded person, that takes interest in many different things. People often fail to point out this fact. For instance, if all you wish for is money and power - you'll never be happy. You will, but for a very short period of time, and then you'll get used to it pretty quickly and will have no more aims because the initial ones were not thought through and sucked.

On the other hand, money opens possibilities, and that is important for someone who wishes for more than just being rich. If money is just a means of reaching something else you really want (e.g., traveling or getting the desired education and so on) - that can make you happy, and not being able to have those things because of lack of funds can be frustrating.

not because of money, but indeed because of his calm psychological condition.  don't put money in his heart but put money in his hands.  sometimes it's not because a lot of money makes a man calm and not quick to anger, but how to feel safe, a feeling of calm can beat the feeling of the difficult economic crush.  but very few people have that character.  usually from religious circles because their belief in the throne and women is only a deposit and does not need to be fought for excessively.

Money can't buy happiness but it can help you to be happy, better to cry on a roof that doesn't leak and have a car and an insurance and investment rather than smiling through without any way to find food for the next day, being happy without money is just ignoring the problem which is being broke.
Happiness is a choice though, so I would rather cry on a mansion than be happy on a street or muddy and leaking roof that's a lifetime burden if you can't change what you are today. That's why I prefer to make more money than suffer because people who experienced poverty know what it's like to have no money to spend when you have something that you wanted to buy.

And being broke is too challenging because you have to think how or what are you gonna eat in the next day. That's why I said happiness is always a choice, you can be happy without a money/broke or you can be sad with a fancy house.

Security adds to the happiness of a person and one way for a person to be happy is able to provide for his family and it needs money. Whichever line of work you have as long as you can provide and have money to secure tomorrow you are going to be happy.

But if you are unsure of what is to come and might not be able to put food on the table, you are likely going to be irritable. Men do everything for survival, kill and steal had been an option for the crooks.

Money and happiness both are totally different things. Happiness is a mind state where your everything is going great but in bad situations money can not convert bad situations to good. Sometimes both relate to each other. Money gives you options to make life better in every prospect , but you can't say money is key of happiness. Poor person can be a happy person but rich person can not be in happy mood. Happiness mood means your every work going through your way money can't do this for you.

There is a popular opinion in the locale that "A man who has money doesn't easily get angry or offended, lol". This statement goes the other way as well, that "A man who doesn't have money is easily offended by everything and everyone".
Well I agree with this statement because in reality this is true. This might be not applicable for rich people who used to have lots of money but for someone who is poor and struggling to survive, having money in your pocket can change your mood.

Money cant buy happiness? probably the kind of happiness that is priceless like the love from our loved ones. But money can make us happy and that's a fact, you can buy anything and everything that can make you happy.

Anyway it still depends on what kind of person you are since we have our own way of thinking regarding this matter.
