Whether you know where to begin, the risk that investing in cryptocurrencies must be bear by the investor because it won't be gone unless you're only getting to the less volatile cryptocurrencies such as stable coins. And the total number of cryptocurrencies that we've got became. As per the source of CMC, the total number of cryptocurrencies listed there is 10,698. While on coingecko, it's only 8,276. And there are those coins that are not listed on both sites.

It's hard or almost impossible to pick one cryptocurrency which will perform the best in the future because as you already said there are thousands of them out there. Coinmarketcap has 10.968 cryptos listed at the moment, as others in this thread already said, you can probably forget about at least 9000 of them. What i can almost definitely say is that all those meme-coins that emerged within the last weeks and months will not have the best future because 99% of them will be dead and gone within the next few months. I think that maybe 2 or 3 meme-coins will survive of those hundreds that were launched.
I would stick to established coins like ETH or BTC if you want to make a relatively safe investment.

Well said, and i can understand the pain and depth of these lines mate.
Now most of the altcoins are useless.
And as no one has seen the future, so it’s really hard to say what coins to choose.
But yes OP if you are thinking of long term investment then choose the coins with largest marketcap.
These coins have less chance to get in losses.

I can say many cryptos that has a future but since you indicated that word "best", I would still choose the first cryptocurrency that has been created and it is Bitcoin.

There are 2 kinds of people. Those who sees cryptocurrency as an investment therefore, they are putting some money on it hoping that it will grow up a few years from now and those who are always using cryptocurrency in their daily lives and they are paying most if not all of their daily expenses with crypto. From the 2, many are doing the first one including me.

There are many cryptos out there who has a good future few years from now but still Bitcoin is the most preferred one. Just focus on the top coins whenever you're investing and you're good to go .

Does it really matter? Those moneygrabber projects makes me stand on my feet before I can even start investing on BTC and ETH, yes shit coins get me where I am today not the big coins in the market, I guess that's why we are warned to only invest what you can afford to lose.

There are many cryptocurrency tokens and coins on the market, but there are a limited number of coins that have a good future and the rest are shit coins. However, we can consider the top 50 coins of coinmarketcap as good coins.  Their future will be much better

Those coins are like ticking time bombs before it goes off to grab your investment, and what I mean by that isn't by scams but the coins you're holding is of no value now.

True. Digital currencies have great future as mass adoption is progressing worldwide  but there are more than 5000 crypto currencies listed on coinmarketcap but all of them are not good because they have very weak or no use case. I think in the long term only those currencies will survive which have good use case like Ethereum, Polkadot, Uniswap, Cardano and few more. In future, we may see a new coin with good technology and good use case , such coin can also take the lead in crypto market.

The answer to your question is really quite obvious. Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency with the best present & future. If bitcoin fails then they all fail. Buying bitcoin is the best thing you can do to protect your families financial future.

Presently it's all about Bitcoin and Ethereum but the 'future' part in your question is what I can't really say anything about because anything can change at any time

Besides Bitcoin, probably Monero due to its privacy focused development. Although Bitcoin is no. 1 and will likely remain the same for a long while, I think Monero will soon start to gain advantage in front of any other crypto. As we can all clearly see, authorities are on a run for surveillance and as much control as possible of the world. Therefore, there is a  high chance that people will someday start to feel something missing... their intimacy.

When people will realize everything dictatorial is being done today under the name of "fighting terrorism", they will for the most part start seeking a way out. And considering the strong push of today for a digital currency.. it might actually happen quite sooner than most expect.

There are several crypto coins and tokens that has great future, but where the work is to finding them, and finding them on time, probably when there are still very cheap in price, but another thing is that we tend not to believe in this kind of projects when they are still at their lowest level due to the numerous number of scams and rug pulls that we have been experiencing in the industry, but the lucky ones are those who find the projects in their lowest level, believe and invest in them, one of such projects I recommend is STUDENT COIN, this is a very promising project which went fully public 2 going to 3 months ago, it's already listed on several exchanges and still more to come, check it out on coinmarketcap for more details.

I chose long-term investing, but here is the good part about it. The choice. I can sell it whenever I like to do it. It's the best way to make more if you know when or how. While investing with commodities, options, mutual funds, especially banks, etc.. you have no right to just do it instantly.
There will be a broker, a middleman or the bank just won't let you because they don't want to or it's against whatever contract you signed with them.
I like it this way because I feel more free to decide to sell all the way or buy back whenever I feel it's time.
But like you said, you just need to know where to begin starting with gaining more knowledge about it which could lessen the risk.

All of those people who you named are also looking to make profit from the middleman position, so they are not really interested in you making profit, they are interested in you trading, the more you trade the more profit they will make. Remember the "wolf of wall street" movie scene with Matthew Mcconaughey, what did he say? If the investor makes money or loses money that doesn't matter to the broker, they only care about you continue to profit, sure if you make a profit that means you will continue trading as well, but they could just call the next guy as well, all they care about is their fee.

In crypto nobody makes you trade, you trade yourself, sure exchanges make a profit from your fee but those exchanges are not calling you on your phone to convince you to trade, you can buy or sell or not do anything whenever you want without anyone pressuring you.
