And so far there are no swing bets yet so the odds remain 1.85 for both.

Maybe as we get to the fight date itself there could be slight odds and we might see Estrada be the favourite in this fight.

But I'm not going to be surprised because he has won the second fight.

I'm still going to wait for other odds yet, it will be juicier than the ML odds although it is very good already. Nevertheless, as gamblers, we will go and look for a better odds.

We will see, but I have to agree that Estrada might pull off as a slight favorite on the strength of the result of the rubber match. And looking as most comments here, they are on the Estrada's bandwagon for now. Unless Chocolatito shows up and bring back the time and give Estrada a good fight that will last the full 12 rounds and might steal the trilogy and get the score 2-1 in their grudge match.

Still some time for Gonzalez to train very hard for this trilogy. I still think he can pull and win here but maybe his biggest opponent right now is father time. He has been in so many wars including the two fights he had with Estrada so only time can tell if he can give us 100% in this fight or he really is out and way past his prime year in fighting. And he is just after the money before he retires.

That's one thing that we need to look at Chocolatito in the early rounds. If we see that he can't pull the trigger and somewhat hesitant to fight then obviously he is no longer the same fighter. But if he continues to bang Estrada then maybe he still have some in his tank.

Checking on the odds, there is still no movement, the same odds: 50/50.

Perhaps it's too early, but what surprises me is that sport bookies has open up the line as early as January and the fight is like 2 months from now.

Estrada might be the slight favorite, but Gonzalez will fight like a madman here because he wanted to get back the respect and honor. It was a big fight for his country and when he lose, it was a big letdown for them. So for sure, he will come back and avenge his lost to Estrada.

I'm curious on the betting odds and check if it is still the same but surprised to see that on my online bookies, Roman Gonzales have a new opponent and it is Julio Cesar Martinez.

After some research, i did know that Martinez is just replacing Estrada because the latter was tested positive for Covid and have to shut down their training camp, damn covid hehe.

Gonzales 1.61, Martinez 2.18, not bad at all.

@Baofeng, maybe you can change the title of this thread bro.

Whereas, some immediate fights are not yet listed on sportsbooks. Maybe, the match has good following from boxing fans. However, another replacement scenario here owed to covid. I guess, we should always prepare ourselves for this kind of last minute change in line-up because we are still in this pandemic era. As Martinez is going up to this division, it is understandable that he is the underdog on this fight. But the fire burning in him will be his weapon inside the ring. Can a boxer with 6 yrs experience as pro beat those 16 yrs of Chocolatito?

Right, after checking the status of the fight, Estrada withdraw because of Covid-19 effects, his trainer sort of says that he is not 100% in training so they have to pull him out.

The article is in Spanish but you can used Google translate:

Quote
The physical condition of 'Gallo' Estrada is not in optimal conditions and that would prevent his fight against Román 'Chocolatito' González from being canceled
The long-awaited third battle between world multi-champions Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada and Román 'Chocolatito' González , scheduled for March 5 in San Diego, California, would be put on hold for that date because the Mexican idol has had some discomfort and he has not been able to train 100 percent for a fight of this caliber.

^^ Just sad to see the Estrada can't make it to this epic trilogy, but you can't blame his people for not allowing him to fight. Because they could make an excuse if they losses the 3rd fight and says that the lingering effect of Covid-19 is still on Estrada's system that's why the sluggish performance.

In any case Martinez is a good replacement, very hungry to be the first person to knock out Chocolatito. So we will see if he can do it.

The thing is that Martinez is moving up in weight, so the question is, can he bring his power to this division? I highly doubt it so I'm not seeing him knocking out Gonzalez even if he is old and could be out of prime. Martinez just grab this fight because it's a perfect opportunity for him, but it could backfire if he losses this one. And if he losses the fight, what will happen to his unification fight with Sunny Edwards? Big gamble on his part for accepting it, but we will see.

Looks like he will put everything here just before the unification fight because if he loses, there will be no unification bout. Maybe they are pretty confident about their conditioning when moving up to higher weight division because most of the time, boxers will gain some power and perfect conditioning can also increase their speed. Most of the unexpected or devastating loss was from a boxer who moved down from their usual weight division. Martinez is completely fine here no problem about that.

It's really sad to the trilogy wouldn't happen, it should be an interesting and close fight. But Martinez replaced Estrada isn't bad too, he have a lot potential even lack of experiences. I love watching Martinez replays, he's very brave and good toe to toe box... similar like the second fight between Estrada vs Gonzalez. I guess he doesn't have a lot choices to fight in this division, so he accept to fight with Gonzalez rather than cherry pick.

Thye have done the right decision pulling him out he is fighting a good rival and this is a trilogy they want both fighters to be 100% in top condition, but I want them to have to finish the trilogy before they retire so they can settle the score and not let the fight hanging on who is the better fighter, there's a chance that we can see the trilogy before the end of this year.

The duel fight between Estrada and Gonzales is predicted to take place in March, in fact these two boxers have met twice, the first meeting was on November 17, won by Gonzales, in the second meeting last year Grada won a points victory, Estrada is a boxer from Mexico who making his professional debut in 2008, Gonzales himself comes from nicaragua, who started his career in 2005, it is certain that this will probably be their last fight,

Lol, kindly read what the others have been discussing because Estrada is no longer available and he will be replace by Martinez already. So your post doesn't make any sense at all.

Props for Martinez for accepting the fight in just a short notice, although he still has some time to prepare for it. He may just have to add some few more pounds to make the weight unless it will be a catch weight. I also do not think that he is capable of knocking Gonzales in this fight. Chocolatito is still good despite his age and his experience is the big difference here.

He seems to be too confident if he says he can knock out Gonzalez because no one has yet beaten him by knockout. So I don't think that Martinez has something specially in him that he can just do it to the great Gonzalez. On the contrary, he could be the one getting knock out here for all we know.

There are some circumstances where the replacement dominated the favorite one of this is the Ugas - Pacquiao, Ugas the replacement beat Pacquiao by unanimous decision, and everyone was caught by surprised, Gonzalez should not underestimate Martinez he still has time to adapt his strategy to Martinez style, if Gonzalez plays it right he can beat Martinez and we can have the trilogy in the future.

Gonzalez have seen it all, so I don't think that because he will be facing Martinez he will be underestimating him. On the contrary, he might really train hard for this fight because he doesn't want to get upset by someone. And if Martinez wins then probably we will not see the trilogy anymore as Gonzalez might retire for good.

He will have to bounce back, however, I don't think we are talking of upset here or whatsoever as both have won 1 apiece against each other, so whoever wins this is the better fighter and I think it will go on a split decision again.

The betting odds are already out, and according to - https://bettinginsiderjournal.com/boxing/juan-francisco-estrada-vs-roman-gonzalez-3-odds/, they are even on betting odds or they have an equal chance of winning.

Quote
Estrada vs Gonzalez 3 Odds
Boxer   Odds
Juan Francisco Estrada   -110
Roman Gonzalez   -110

Therefore upset does not exist.

The truth is that Gonzalez would be a shame if he retired from Boxing, as you say, if those events happen, there is no possibility that this trilogy could happen? there are many events that have happened this year in boxing, Tyson not fighting, the problem that occurred with some boxers, the long-awaited GGG vs Murata fight, the problem with Myweather with the money that was not paid to his opponent, I see that many things have escaped the boxing federation worldwide, and I think that the pandemic has a lot to do with this.
