I am thinking of running this tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuf4T308tHQ

I want to run dozens of instances and can run for years on my servers.  Maybe I can find something.

What do you think about it?

Forget it! Do you think that someone with much greater resources than you, has not already come up with the idea? I would suggest you to deal with cryptography and the probability and the power you need to crack any of those hashes before you plan such projects. Youtube videos convey many things in the crypto area as if they were so totally easy and understandable. You can of course let it run for years, but even then the probability of finding something is very very very low.

Complete waste of time and resources not only will you not benefit anything from it you will probably destroy your computer in the process after running it for 10+ years trying to get something from it. The only ones which you will be able to crack is the ones that are commonly used which have passphrases like "password" and you will find that there will be a ton of competition to take coins out of it. Look at some brain wallets which have simple passwords and see how much is deposited and when and then see how long it takes for the coins to be sweeped out. Its a pointless exercise.

I believe brainflyer is the most efficient implementation out there and has already gone through the most significant keyspace and using a remotely weak passphrase would've resulted in an immediate compromise of your address nowadays.

There is no point trying to compete against others, those that are vulnerable has already been cracked and no one is using brainwallet as it is now.

Not worth it in my opinion.

@ranochigo mentioned about brainflyer, you can read it here: "Why I'm releasing a brainwallet cracker at DEFCON 23".

And who are still using brainwallet this 2021?

Also another good thread to read for you regarding your quest: Collection of 18.509 found and used Brainwallets.

I think instead of trying to rob other people you should spend the same computing power you are about to waste "for years" to mine altcoins. There are a lot of them that can be mined using GPU and some with CPU, mining these will give you guaranteed and honest reward and you are not stealing from others this way!

Complete waste of time and resources not only will you not benefit anything from it you will probably destroy your computer in the process after running it for 10+ years trying to get something from it.

This tool takes a completely different approach to the one seen so far. It doesn't need a lot of computing power  because it is not brute force. BitcoinWalletCracker searches the internet for new content on the basis of which it generates new brainwallets (sha256). It targets sentences, phrases, and quotes.

It doesn't generate billions of wallets from random strings just from content found on the internet.
That's why I got interested in it. I know the tools I've seen so far don't make sense, but it's different in this case.

I believe brainflyer is the most efficient implementation out there and has already gone through the most significant keyspace

Not worth it in my opinion.

Brainflayer is a completely different tool from BitcoinWalletCracker. It works on a completely different principle. BWC isn't bruteforce tool.

I think instead of trying to rob other people you should spend the same computing power you are about to waste "for years" to mine altcoins.

It doesn't need a lot of computing power. Please read above and watch video.

BitcoinWalletCracker is the first tool of this type, that's why it interested me, yesterday I ran a dozen or so instances and we'll see what comes out of it.

My friend who launched several hundred instances of BWC told me that he found two addresses from BTC. I'll check it.

BitcoinWalletCracker does not need a lot of computing power. You can run multiple instances at the same time. In my opinion it is better to find OLD brainwallet than to mine bitcoins using miners (mining BTC is just a complete waste of time).

I don't know how exactly your tool works but if it's in the same realm as a brute force approach, I don't think that even years and top of the line equipment is going to help you crack bitcoin or the wallet because with the string of characters and the length of it, I don't think that it's going to be an easy thing to do. Probably you will crack one but the problem is it takes a lot of time and you have cracked it but the universe is already dead and the wallet doesn't even have any coins in it.

The question of legality remains, but you can always try to contact the previous owner via OP_RETURN of BTc transaction. Many old thick wallets no longer have their owners.

In my opinion certain kind of work is quite pointless and worthless, you will spend your resources and time on a work that has no value at all, in my opinion it's like some kind of virus that he mistakenly cracked to get your wallet or he wants to use your CPU to mine some coin.

Not ethical, the Bitcoins still belongs to the owner. I imagine anyone trying to run this doesnt really care.

It's the same. Brainflyer isn't bruteforce either, the user has to feed brainflyer with suitable strings for it to search. Which is also incidentally the same concept of yours; a dictionary attack, but in this case you're crawling websites. Brainflyer allows for the user to feed it information using another source, like a web crawler. If you're going to tell me your program somehow can reduce the complexity of the brainwallet, then it works on different principle. You're just changing the inputs to the bruteforce.

I understand your concerns and I had them myself, but BitcoinWalletCracker is open source, it is a script written in PHP, I checked and it is free from malicious code.

It can always be safely run in a virtual machine, e.g. VirtualBox.

After 4 days of running bitcoinwalletcracker (over 100 instances), I found 1 address with bitcoins but I don't know what to do with it and whether it's legal. However it's fun  Grin Grin Grin I can't believe it's that simple.

More about PM.

This is a common scammer, he advertises his malware on the forum, in different languages.
