Trying to fix dead GPUs

I have two dead GPU at hand, is there any tutor on how to fix this GPUS? Someone told me GPUs have fuse on them but I don't even know how their fuse looks like, they aren't like fuse you would find in every other electronic parts, any tutorial link?

Im fixing gpus. If you have no idea better not try do it. Replacing the fuse wont fix problem. If fuse opened it means there is short circuit in mosfets. It is better give to master.

If the fuses are on, then there is a short circuit on the video card. Without experience, you will not be able to subordinate the video card yourself, and you also risk burning your motherboard.
Better take your video cards to a workshop or find a private technician in your country who will diagnose video cards.

Very rarely is it the fuse which causes a GPU not the function. An easy way to check if the fuse is blown is to just use a multimeter and check for continuity. If there is an open circuit then obviously its blown and you need to replace it. However if a fuse was blown, chances are it'll get blown again, so find out why. Maybe faulty wiring somewhere or bad riser which is shorted.

You blew something on the GPU. Take out the heatsink and inspect it. It should be obvious what was blown. If its one capacitor only then there is a good chance you can fix it. However most likely you blew a few components AND blew a hole in the PCB board rending it useless.

Find a qualified personnel to check the GPU out for you, it's a waste of time trying to fix if you don't even know where to look into, I repair electronics gadget like LCD and HDTVs but that's that but i still can't repair graphic cards

Adaseb what if the GPU don't show any signs of something got blown ? What if the fuse aren't blown and no capacitor got damaged and yet the GPU fan only spins with no display? Is there something else to look into?

I'm not an expert in the field but I sure know how to use meter very well, the funny part is no single fuse was blown, anyways id just let the GPU rest in perfect peace lol to send it to a qualified person out of my country will cost me much money

Usually wrong riser input makes GPU chip dead.Sorry to say that. Because there 3.3v which goes to directly to GPU when mixing 12v will go there and kill GPU.

If you know how to use meter then plug gpu thru riser and measure voltages for gpu and memory.(Dont keep gpu under voltage to long,if it gets hot it go to protection) if one of them shoving 0v means need to check controller which you need oscilloscope for measure.

Before starting: measure input voltages from 8pin and from pcie. make sure there is no shorts and resistance is ok.

is there no local repairer on your area? where do you live? if you're in us or europe i don't think you have to send it overseas. maybe you just need to buy some parts from overseas, if there is no parts around you.

No there isn't, I'm from Africa and around me there is no expert at all, they mostly don't even know what GPU is and those who knew what GPU is are the sellers, imagine sending the GPU overseas to get repaired when waybill is insanely high

Put it in directly into the motherboards x16 slot and use a bootable DOS disk and run atiwinflash and see if it can detect it. I had a GPU that did this before and all it needed was a reflash to start working again.

However I never connected it backwards on the riser, usually from what I read about people who did that is that the GPU is toast because there is a pin in there thats an actual +3V or +5V and you fed that load to somewhere which was only meant to be used a signal pin.

Try and see if it boots in DOS first.

Riser connected backwards usually leads to a dead GPU. If your fans spin at full speed but otherwise card doesn't react to anything - in most cases that confirms a dead GPU. I'm going to write a post regarding GPU checking and possible repairs, but in general if you don't have the equipment better send it in for repairs. Having a multimeter and a soldering iron isn't enough.

I would suggest cleaning the entire gpu boards you had my friend, then check the fans installed on it. Sometimes fan and cooling heatsing won't work due to poor heat transfer and dissipation. Indeed, there's fuse that disconnects power on gpu so basically it tripped off when problems existed particular with short circuit because of overheating.

I wouldn't suggest doing any of that, more often than not it worsens the damage.

Haven't you tried doing or not? Because as per video review, most recommendations mostly suggested this strategies and yet as I understand the whole thing went well. Can you give me some discussion that said it really worsen the damage? I need to some inputs from you so it could help everybody here.

I would suggest cleaning the entire gpu boards you had my friend, then check the fans installed on it. Sometimes fan and cooling heatsing won't work due to poor heat transfer and dissipation. This video doesn't have anything to do with pointing the fuse out on GPUs it's all about using heat gun to resit the chips on the graphic cards, this is a different case from what OP is refering to I believe
