Oh, that's huge, the writing is, the name is still the basic name, only the letters are different, it seems I miss the original name in small letters, I think it changed @Coolcryptovator to a unique and cool name.

But it doesn't matter, it has happened, the important thing is congratulations on the new name with uppercase letters still @COOLCRYPTOVATOR.

Congrats for you changing username successfully. But I am not sure how much this help to reduce the impersonating. Hopefully if the victim is not fool or not atleast aware to identify account before dealing will be helped.

Btw how much time take to change the username ? And what is the procedure of changing username?

Even though it wasn't much of a difference to your username, I'm jealous.  Theymos completely ignored my request for a username change, though that's kind of what I expected.  It's not unheard of for members to have their handles changed at their request, but if I had to guess I'd say that Theymos refuses more often than he grants such changes.  But who knows?  It's not like he makes a public pronouncement about issues like this (and I wish he would).

In short, the OP thought that by changing the name it would achieve something about those who imitate it on the Telegram - and the admin accepted this as a justifiable reason. In addition, this name change is almost imperceptible to most users, the name actually remained identical.

So I have decided to change my Telegram username to @COOLCRYPTOVATOR. At least it wouldn't look the same as my profile Telegram username. But still doubts it won't help much since my forum username still in with the small letter.

With the current username and Telegram username, I believe any reasonable users wouldn't fall into the scam that attempting by an impersonator. As much as I have been trying to prevent impersonator and that's the reason why I changed username. Now depends on the person how they could prevent scammers.

Changing the username takes a week exactly. I send the request to theymos a week back.

Are congratulations in order?  I really don't know, but thanks for the head's up anyway.  To be honest I doubt I would have noticed that your name is now all caps if you hadn't mentioned it.  Don't take that personally, there's a lot that slips by me.

As for your reasoning, I don't know if that's going to solve all your problems with Telegram.  There are still ways to mimic your new username, for example: C00LCRYPT0VAT0R (spelled with zeros) doesn't look much different.  I know that the letter "L" in lower case can easily be misleading when replaced with a capitol "I" in Telegram, but I'm not sure of how other letters appear.  I had a situation where someone was trying to mimic my user name by replacing the "L" in Wolf with a capitol "I."  I reported that user to Telegram and now he's gone.

To prevent people from confusing me with an impersonator in Telegram I included my Telegram username in my BitcoinTalk.org profile.  Since then I haven't had any issues.

This is very kind from you - to take the the decision to change your name - and I am sure it was not easy to decide that. Just re-read what you quoted. Here, let me help you out with a highlight representing the answer of your question Sometimes this works... just provide a very good reason, as OP did.

If your reason is very good (not just a "hey, theymos, can you change my name for free?"), like OP had, your wish may become true. In his case, his request was for the benefit of some innocents, not for his ego. It was for a greater purpose. There is a huge difference between a pure will and a wish made for protecting others... Read also OP's background story.

Thanks everyone for your input. To be honest a few users of the forum who were victims of the impersonator advised me change my Telegram username like this I have currently. Once I changed Telegram username then it drives me to think that anyone would sill can create a similar username as my forum profile display name. That's the only reason I requested theymos to change my forum display name as well. I know still scammer could impersonate my username somehow. But it's my belief that the current username is quite safe from the previous. There was no any other intention to change my username like gain weight or prove myself as an established forum member. If you have reasonable reason to change your username then the admin would help you for sure. There is no need for special criteria as far as I know. This thread I just create for the record to avoid any future confusion.

It won't help much the possible victims but it will be helpful for @Coolcryptovator because s/he will be bothered by the victims and at the least that he could do is that s/he has this thread to prove that s/he wasn't the scammer and that s/he was targeted by impersonators.

Few days ago I saw that your username changed to all caps and I thought why? Well, now it's more than clear. I'm not really sure that it will prevent from scam attempts from impersonators. But if you think that it will help, it's good for you that theymos accepted your requested.
Once I thought that I would like to change my username, but any good names didn't come to my head. Well, it's something like making a tatoo .

Oh, come on.  Do you think Theymos really takes into account any altruistic motives when someone is requesting a name change?  It might appear to be the case with OP, but when it's also an option to pay for the name change (admittedly nobody is going to pay 50BTC these days for that privilege) I seriously doubt that's much of a factor. 

As much as I appreciate Theymos for keeping the forum alive, I don't believe for one minute that he'd move a muscle to stop scammers on telegram.  Just look at how they flourish on his own forum and that should be enough to prove my point.
