I agree. Many beginners just invest seeing their friends just earn profits and invest on the same coin and tend to fall into panic sells which in turn leads to loose huge money. So, yes it's our responsibility to alert them of risks involved in it. This would certainly make many think twice before investing. As money is involved its necessary to analyze before investing. I believe your friend is being pushed by the price spike of Bitcoin and that is not the best time advice someone to invest in crypto currency I must tell you the truth. Some people may advice that at all time is the best time to buy Bitcoin without considering the effects on newbies that are reading their post here. Buy Bitcoin when there panic that it will crash to $30k or $10k and any time its value appreciating and people are saying Bitcoin is going to $100k or even $200k please just sell.

This is very true, and to any no-coiner, I'd recommend buying any 5 figure price right now. When price dropped over 50% to $30K, people were asking if it was too late when it seems more or less clear that it wasn't. This is why to any no-coiner I would recommend Bitcoin at more or less any price for the long-term. I also remember some people investing at $10-20K in 2017, which seemed stupid shortly after when price dropped down to $6K, but the reality is that it wasn't. They were more than willing to buy at $20K, given price could reach $1 million, but not interested in doubling down at $6K which says a lot.

Some people have to buy the tops as they aren't willing to buy the discount it seems, regardless of if prices takes years to recover to that level. At least when price reaches it's previous ATH they appear to be less willing to sell after holding for so many years, unlike others who bought at 10K and sold a few months later at 20K for a quick 2x profit. No doubt buying back in at a much higher level.

Often I find the answer to recommending Bitcoin as an investment isn't about price, it's about exposure. If you don't have any, that's a very risky position to be in. More so than buying a top.
