Why can't I post images?

Because you need to be a Junior Member to do that. To become a Junior Member you will have to have posted in three activity periods and have at least 28 activity. However, you can bypass these restriction by buying a Copper Membership for a small fee here.

I'm a newbie and based on the existing rules I can't show image when I post and it can only be shown when someone who has jr minimum rank or above quote my post and it's true. But look at this, when I check the post history then actually I can show the image even though I don't see it visible at the time of posting. Is this a bug or is the image just hidden in the post and not in the post history?

I think it'd show up on your post history fine since it's your image. Not sure about people seeing others' post history though.

Edit i just checked your post history and saw it, it might be that there's more security with post history (eg no "reply" buttons that have session codes)?

I'm not limited to replying to anyone's posts when I check post history. Since I am only limited to 360 seconds for each post as I am still a newbie then I think there is no limit to reply from post history. Admin may not forbid newbies to do it, but just can't display images when the post is not in the post history. Sorry, if that's what you mean.

It's not a bug. Images posted by Newbies are hidden in their posts because of (NSFW?) image spam in the past. If someone chooses to check their post history, it's okay to show the images.

Note that you can already create IMG-tags, and once you become Jr. Member, the images in your older posts show up too.

That may be true, forum rules apply fairly to all newbies whether they are momposting NSFW or not as no automatic filter can detect a user posting NSFW unless someone reports it.

Don't worry, it's not considered a bug as far as I'm concerned as you still can't display image when you make post. I understand it's because of your current rank limit. Although copper members can help you display image on post even if you are a newbie, it only take a minimum of 17 more post to display them by default because you have already got 8 merit. Keep moving.

It is a hidden feature of the forum.

I guess it is similar to the hidden feature. Click on post history, and post with image from newbies, then you will see images. By default, images are disabled if they are posted by newbies, but if you check that post in post history, images will be displayed.

Also, don't be alarmed if you happen to make some amendments to a post with images and after saving them, you see the "Images disabled due to security".

That thing only happens for a few seconds and after you refresh the page, the images will show up.

I think it's not a bug since it is only shown on post history but the thread you have posted the image won't be shown unless you buy copper membership or ranked up to jr. member. Just think that it is a feature in this forum that many people like newbies didn't know about. It is shown in post history since you used the bbcodes for images
