Should you sell ethereum and btc to buy Solana/SOL?

Solana is a new promising altcoin that surpassed dogecoin to be ranked up to seventh place on CMC. And based on its price last August 15 2021 it is only 44$ and now its current price is 157$ based on that super Sonic price movement from 44$ to 157$ for just one months, I think Solana is good for short term investment, what would be your insights about this guys. Good for long term or short term investment?

You cant be sure that solana is only a short term project. Have you seen the progress they did for the last few months? I dont think we can say its a PnD and wouldnt last for long term. I dont have any solana holding but I can see that they did well and they can still improve more. People are looking for something unique and we can see that solana is one of those top yier project that will pumped hard in the near future.

There is no doubt that it suits only for long-term investment. It is on the highs now, so if you buy now for short-term, you will definitely lose. I agree that Solana is a very promising altcoin, but I am not sure if there is a good time to buy now. What you certainly shouldn’t do is to exchange Bitcoin to Solana, you should have one part in more conservative assets (Bitcoin) and one part in more risky currencies (Solana) - diversify!

if it's for short trades to profit from the SOL fast pump I don't think it's a problem. but if it's meant for long term investment. I think my ETH and BTC are more valuable in the long run.
what we need to know, SOL is already making the pump too high shortly. this is just a trend and there is a high probability of a decline when everything is finished with SOL.

I agree. Before investing in a relatively unknown project like Solana, we need to get more information on their long-term development plans. And just yesterday Solana was hit by some major technical issues. At some point, they had issues in validating the transactions, which was blamed on "resource exhaustion" by the development team. Just because Solana is technologically superior, it doesn't automatically mean that it will be able to replace established altcoins such as Cardano and Ethereum. First it needs to prove that it is able to handle large volumes without snags.

Solana is not something that is pumped like doge driven by Elonmusk, which when the hype of Doge disappears the price will fall, Solana provides innovative and fresh technology that attracts investors for the long term, although now Solana is in decline but that's a normal correction and I sure solana can be a promising long-term investment.

Uou've already answered that this is only good as a short term, not an investment because investing is more into the long term. coins whose prices go up many times only in months are very at risk of going down very deep, so if you get a profit it will be wiser to take a profit.
Solana has surpass dogecoin rank but it will be again take over by dogecoin after solana pump end and started to dump.

If you want to invest in Solana, you do not have to sell Ethereum because Ethereum worthy than Solana so maybe you can use the other money to invest in Solana.
It is no problem if you invest from a small amount because that is the investment you do not have to buy in a large amount.

Bitcoin controls the market because of its sheer size. When it goes up people take profits and put it into other projects causing everything else to go up. When it goes down people sell other coins to buy Bitcoin because it’s the safe long term bet.

I don't think you can replace the two main cryptocurrencies of the moment for an emerging one like Solana.We don't know what the future will hold for it while Ethereum and Bitcoin are proven cryptos that will be staying with us as long as crypto will exist.No matter how good this Solana has behaved I would never replace Bitcoin and Ethereum with it,I know in the long term I would be at a huge financial loss.For short term maybe but it is like a gambling experiment,you may win big but you may also lose big.So in the end for me is a No-No to both scenarios.

I think that Solana has already played its aces and that caused price to make that price growth from June to September. They have announced, developed or done what they wanted, and now it is time for Solana devs just to keep working. That is why short-term investment wont bring much imo. But long-term is always a lottery. Solana need to develop and quickly something new for short-term investment to be reasonable.

If I were you, I would have kept my Ethereum un Bitcoin untouched, but rather exchange other altcoin to Solana. As I believe that in the end of the autumn there will be another Bitcoin price pump.

Btw, Solana blockchain was down for several hours recently, and that is not the first time this happen. This is a good sign. This could drop price badly. As well as this: Solana developers have decided to restart the network after over seven hours of downtime. (ouch!)

Solana is likely to be a tough competitor for Ethereum in the future but it don't think it may beat Eth, it all depends on BTC reacts in upcoming days. people are very much concerned on missing Solana it came to $40 before a month and now the trend is totally different, I think for long term solana might be a good coin for investment because the future looks pretty cool.

If you are going to buy it on top, then it is not good, wait for it to really drop before purchasing and hold on it. But as far as shifting your funds from ETH/BTC is not good in my opinion. I mean those two prime movers are already solid, keep your investments on them and try to buy SOL when you have the budget and then sell when you profit already and then that is the time to move it to ETH/BTC and not the other way around.

It would be a wise choice to invest into Solana as it is a really promising project. I expect the price to even reach $1000 at least in the future. However, I don't think that it would be a smart choice to sell Ethereum and Bitcoin for buying Solana. Because you can make a lot of profit in Bitcoin and Ethereum also in the long run. Rather than selling them, you can buy Solana as an extra to them.

It is just sad that none of the people who can actually explain about these Alt-coins no longer visit the forum. For example, Solana is basically a blockchain on a novel consensus mechanism that its developers were confident can actually prove itself out in the wild. It works on what they call "Proof of History". Any consensus mechanism has to work on scale and that is demonstrated only in real world conditions like this.

The block generation has stopped because the consensus mechanism broke down at scale and multiple forks are happening. This clearly shows that the consensus mechanism is nowhere near mature enough to work at scale. This is why if you are betting on Solana then you will be caught dead in the water when the sentiment cools off.
