Should you sell ethereum and btc to buy Solana/SOL?

Why sell if you can buy both then hold? since its crazy to pick only one and wait to pump we can actually maximize our capital then buy those potential coins around. And we should believe that never put your capital on single basket since we don't know if the pump will continue, its hard to get FOMO and baghold that's why we need to be smart on taking decisions so that we can possible accumulate profits on multiple options.

There is no need to sell your Bitcoin and Ethereum if you are able to afford some Solana at the same time. Because you can make profits in all of them in time. I don't know whether it is a good time to buy Solana also. Solana is a fairly promising project, the reason for this is its price increase, as you described in just a couple of months, more than 3 times. But I would not go out of steadfast monks like bitcoin and ethereum for the whole cutlet and invest in Solana, especially since Ethereum has grown even more than Solana over the past months.

If you want to gained quick profits probably that's a good idea since SOL(solana) had the most fastest growth rate in crypto market , but don't assume it will keep holding at the top, just be aware, because whales can manipulate the price of solana without knowing, i mean how growing so fast it's right now there's a possibility it will plunges so fast as well.. Indeed there's no enough proof that this token will last as it's new in the space., not the same with bitcoin and ethereum wherein always has a chance to recover after the dip and it's proven by the way since the very first start. There are now some people who think that SOL has the potential to even overtake Ethereum...and maybe also have the chance to take on the throne by Bitcoin though I would not be thinking of that for the meantime. Now, if you think that there is a strong likelihood that it can be the real Eth killer then there is no reason why you would not want to hold some SOL. But of course, better do it when there can be a dip in its price...and it may happen soon as there will always be correction when the coin has been rising for some time. Solana's peak price was close to $200 and that might be reached again anytime soon. I haven't invested in it but it's probably good as a long-term investment but still, have your own assessment on this coin. There are many altcoins that have been at the top and with their peak but after a year or two, they're totally out of it. And if you want to sell your btc and eth for SOL, I won't do that but if you think that your solution for you to invest in it. Well, invest wisely.

For example, Solana is basically a blockchain on a novel consensus mechanism that its developers were confident can actually prove itself out in the wild. It works on what they call "Proof of History". Any consensus mechanism has to work on scale and that is demonstrated only in real world conditions like this.

The block generation has stopped because the consensus mechanism broke down at scale and multiple forks are happening. This clearly shows that the consensus mechanism is nowhere near mature enough to work at scale. This is why if you are betting on Solana then you will be caught dead in the water when the sentiment cools off.

The consensus mechanism didn't break down. The network was flooded with TXs and didn't have the proper QoS to prioritize network critical TXs.

You will get all types of suggestions for the question you have asked and honestly none of those suggestions really matter.
It's you who has to decide how you want to proceed with your portfolio because it's your coins and you shouldn't regret later because of someone else's decisions for you.
Solana is a potential coin but it has been highly pumped recently. This doesn't mean it won't pump more or fall down but you just have to acknowledge this fact before taking your decision.
What goes up also comes down and may be since Solana has pumped up it might face a minor correction as well.
I have a bag of Solana and I am in it for a long term because I believe in the project and I think it will be a very good long term investment.
If you are still confused whether to buy SOL now or not then you can also DCA (Dollar Cost Average) by buying some coins now and keep buying at frequent intervals to average out the buying price.
Selling BTC or ETH should again be your choice and I would recommend not to sell them because diversification is a good strategy.
Try to put in new money into SOL and DCA to have a good average buying price.

There many coins that has 100%+ growth in short time but he volume is not high as SOL so the hype is not big as SOL price growth.
Solana platform may people said it was just same like ETH and will be ETH killer, but i don't think so because ETH was having this concept years ago and solana is just made it recently. And we don't know what ETH will be making in the future with ETH 2.0, there must be something big behind that being developed by their team to make ETH much more valueable in the future.
So i think it won't replace ETH let alone bitcoin

If you want to invest for the short term I think there's nothing wrong with buying solana coins.
 But if you want to invest for the long term it would be nice to have both (bitcoin and ethereum).

You should sell ETH and SOL to buy BTC. Why? SOL network cannot stand DOS attack, and has to be paused and restarted. ETH is also the same, always congested with fees higher than BTC, premined (illegal ICO), and not sure POS migration will be free from trouble. BTC is the most stable of all, and even though it's not "fun" as there's no NFT, DEFI, etc. at least it's free from trouble. I personally think SOL isn't "the one."

Despite the fundamental, however, crypto market is highly irrational, so SOL price might still be pumping for a while.

I think Solana's price is being manipulated.
The price of a coin does not fall when the entire crypto market falls.
The price rises very quickly for no fundamental reason.
The ecosystem is very small and there is still a lot of work to be done.

What do you mean? You should probably elaborate if you want to mount a defense of Solana's consensus mechanism.

The network was stuck as a particular block number for hours. Generation of new blocks needs consensus between a majority of nodes about the global state of transactions. In every consensus mechanism, it happens by prioritizing transactions and putting them into blocks. If a chain simply stops producing new blocks, it means that the consensus mechanism has weaknesses that are not letting it scale.

I am sure the devs will come up with some patch to fix the issue and "restart" the network. Yet, it only goes to show that there is a huge difference between writing a whitepaper and making a network work in actual network conditions. What "network critical TXs" are you talking about btw? Please do share. IMO, If a particular type of transactions is network critical then isn't that itself a bottleneck and a vulnerability?

I don't think so but instead, I will not miss investing in Solana if I have some extra budget because it's the current promising coins that have a chance to further increase their price. I think some people will switch to Solana especially those who invested in some altcoins that haven't increase their price the way they expected. The opportunity is calling them before it will go up to creating another record-breaking ATH again. They need to invest when the price is still low because when they invest at the peak of its price, they don't get any profit anymore.

If you would have sold all your btc and eth Holdings and would have put that money into Solana back then when the price was below 1 $ then you probably would not have to work anymore now because you could have made a x200 on your investment. I would never do that now though, because i think the big pump of Solana has already happened and i don't think that it is more likely that Solana does a x10 from here on than Btc or Eth doing a x10.
