As @stompix pointed out, the people themselves may have reason to dislike their president who has a lot of admirers in the Bitcoin world. Adopting Bitcoin as legal tender is a progressive move but the president will need a plan to make people realize the benefits or even to bring them those benefits.

Those people are not a forum or a shitcoin discord/ Telegram. They are a real country with real problems and flipping a few NFTs for profit cannot be the answer for a whole country. It must be accepted that the people are probably too tech-illiterate to make good use of the opportunities with crypto.

If this is meant to be a banking replacement for them, this should also be explicitly communicated. Launching a wallet and then airdropping everyone some Satoshis is a marketing move, not a long term plan. Have we heard of any long term vision from the president on how Bitcoin will benefit his impoverished nation?

That's also very true as it happens in every country when they hate the current president all its projects are going to be hated. Bukele's Bitcoin experiment has been hated even when they are benefitting from it. They should realize how lucky they are that their government has plans for their future and initiate this Bitcoin law. The people in other countries have to go through a long process to get their hand with BTC.

To the rallies we have seen on youtube about Anti Bitcoin in El Salvador, there are only less than 50 people who joined. How are they affected by the Bitcoin adoption, USD is not even forbidden in the country?

Supporting this all the way , Because i see nothing but the government trying to Feed people the idea of Bitcoin will be helpful but did not let them decide for this as they are the one who will use it in case.

Government of EL salvador decide for their people's welfare but has no chance to ask them about what they really feel for this.
we may be Bias on this because we are crypto supporters but El Salvadorian needs explanation and understanding before letting this enters their daily living .

Dollar means stability, at least in this narrow aspect of a stable purchasing power. In a country torn with chaos, stability is something people can be desperate to have, even if it's only about the price and nothing else. So some backlash to mass adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador was expected. Add to that the fact that El Salvador has the highest murder rate in the world, and it doesn't seem surprising that this backlash results in violence. People there are largely poor and desperate, and a financial change like this might mean that they'll be better off, but can also mean that things will get even worse. Hopefully, though, there will be benefits of Bitcoin adoption, and that can ease the tensions.

I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.
why so are we only going to allow them ?
but there should be authorities that are stopping those violators because in the end this is still a crime and they are destroying someones else priority or business and it will be scary if your going to use btc atms in public or buying in shops and you use btc because you might get attacked unexpectedly by a random strangers .

Dollar means stability, at least in this narrow aspect of a stable purchasing power.
It mostly means reliance and becoming a colony rather than stability. If it were stability El Salvador economy and the country in general wouldn't have been like this to begin with! They already tried being a "colony" and it failed.

Quote
and a financial change like this
I don't think it is such as big "financial change". They didn't "replace" fiat with bitcoin, they just added bitcoin alongside fiat and nobody forced people to use bitcoin.

That's an insane move being done by Bitcoin haters. I think they hate adoption which couldn't help on their country's development. I can't find any reason for them to hate Bitcoin adoption because if they don't want to use it, they still have other options so destroying Bitcoin ATMs will never help.

dollar supporters destroy bitcoin atm in el salvador, maybe these are just people who are not happy with the presence of bitcoin in el salvador, they are already very afraid, i think the government should seriously deal with this problem, because if the government ignores and does not take sanctions against them, according to I think other damage will continue to happen..

people nowadays love to throw tantrums if something didn't go as they wanted. I wouldn't be surprised if it really came to that. I just hope people who use BTC would be prepared if they started getting targeted, blamed, and attacked by the people who are against the implementation of bitcoin in El Salvador.

I am curious what steps would the El Salvador government take to de-escalate the situation.

That's just disappointing that people are like this just to protest over something and it's not that even that big of an issue because it's not like it's going to be sealing the fate of the country. Ignorance does breed hate because this is what the people are showing right now.

It's too early for them to do this because there are no things that make them worry about the result of the implementation of bitcoins in their country everything seems right and it was a success they just went overboard with it. It's obvious that they are being paid to do this and they think they can cause confusion to the people now that they already enjoying this new regulation of their government. Whoever the people behind this, they might be one of those people who lose some high percentage of their profit when bitcoin was implemented in El Salvador.

@Bukele’s twitter has a few references to the events, and hints ties to the opposition stirring up the vandalism, not specifically to USD supporters in terms of ideology. This is bound to happen as the opposition is against the Bitcoin Law, and will likely beat the government at every opportunity.
Being yesterday a holiday and a commemoration of the 200 years of independence from the Spanish Empire, there were bags of people everywhere, with demonstrations and counter demonstrations. Easy pastures to stir up some smallish alleged anti-bitcoin protests amidst it all.

<…> I don't understand Spanish. What does "bukele drogo narco cerote" mean?Does this have something to do with drugs and Latin American nacro cartels? <…>
Some people in @Bukele’s administration were linked to alleged narco trafficking ties (see https://twitter.com/ElFaroEnglish/status/1394420029710495744). This is likely to be exploited here and there to get to @Bukele.

"Cerote" in El Salvador means, I believe, something like "stupid", but it can also refer to "turd".

Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

Check this:
https://twitter.com/LaPagina/status/1438209829097590791
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-15/bitcoin-atm-burned-in-el-salvador-amid-anti-bukele-protests

Interesting.
If this is true, it's clear the Spirit behind it isn't a good one. It's evil spirit. Says alot about the currency that is prefer by evil spirits for New World Order entities.

They are acting like barbarians. Dont like something - destroy it. I dont understand their motives. Bitcoin is not the only currency in El Salvador. It has not replaced US dollar, this is just an additional payment method. I also dont understand what they dont like in Bitcoin. Dont like something new? Then dont use plastic cards for payment also. With the actions against Bitcoin they just make it more popular. Black PR.

P.S. Destroying ATM is really stupid, it is insured definitely. This is same as in movies - shooting the monitors to destroy data on hard disk drives.

Well, they really are idiots if you ask me. If they want to use dollars then use it. Bitcoin doesn't affect the dollars price and yet they destroyed the ATM machine. Just let them be and maybe they'll realise it that they are wrong for destroying the machines.

Thats the point , even if they don't favor the use of Bitcoin then they can continue using their Dollar/Fiat why need to do this? they are not even forced to use bitcoin in which only adopted as option for those who wanted to have faster and safe online transactions.
and also many of their people are working abroad so using bitcoin is faster and cheaper for them to sent .

But we do not know what their people will do later and if they do not like bitcoin, maybe they still do that and will not use bitcoin. I think their government does not force the people to use or not use bitcoin in their country. So their people can still use their fiat currency but they do not allow to destroy public facilitate. I wonder what their government will do later related to that news and hopefully, they will still install the other Bitcoin ATM in the other locations.

They will still install as they are already implemented the adoption of bitcoin but what we need to know there if those guy who destroy those ATM will be put in jail if they can sample one jerks doing that for sure those bitcoin haters will not tempt to do it but instead leave those bitcoin user alone on there decisions. Best for El Salvador government to continue raise awareness on bitcoin so that slowly by slowly their citizens can also adopt it.

Actually El Salvador government didn't push their citizens to use bitcoin, everyone have their own choice, those people should not did that. In my point of view, those people did criminal activity by destroying Bitcoin ATM, I personally think that what they did wasn't just that but actually they trying to destroy El Salvador's good economic future. Maybe they have some USD and don't want to suffer financial loss. That's so selfish, sacrificing many people's good future for their interest. That's my opinion.

Even if someone has US Dollar funds with him/her, how he is going to suffer losses if Bitcoin is also made the legal tender? USD usage will be largely unaffected. Those who were using USD earlier, can continue using that. The only difference is that previously it was mandatory for everyone to use USD everywhere because that was the only legal tender. Now those who want to go for an alternative do have a choice. So what the USD supporters want? They want to force everyone to stick with USD?
