actions financed by the international community. The sad thing is that they are funded by the evil opposition. For those who want to destroy atm in el salvador, continue to demonstrate, actually the dollar does not feel harmed by bitcoin in el salvador, but in my opinion this is all financed by bad people, there must be a certain purpose behind all of that, hopefully it will be revealed soon..

The opposition parties have their own reasons to protest against president Bukele, but the entry of Bitcoin has added another dimension to it. I won't be too surprised if it is proven later that external actors are involved. And why not? The Americans don't like anything that could weaken their currency. El Salvador is too small to have any real impact on the United States Dollar, but for the Americans it sets a bad precedent. Why should anyone use an inflation prone currency (whose M1 supply has more than doubled in the last two years), when they have a better option?

Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

He should be arrested for damaging the government property. No one is allowed to damage the public property in any country.

Anyways by destroying the bitcoin ATM makes no sense because there is no damage done to bitcoin and people can still use bitcoin easily anywhere. However incidents like these will create panic among people as these ill minded people may attack stops who accepts bitcoin.

Daym this is so messed up. Either they really hate bitcoin or somebody is funding these protests. But why would anybody hate bitcoin? It doesn't make sense to me. Somebody must be hiring these people. Just throw them all to jail for vandalizing public property because that's what they were doing.

Is their government forcing all of them to make use of Bitcoin? If that’s not the case, then I don’t see the need for them to be doing all these things that they are doing now. Breaking Bitcoin ATMs is not going to stop the growth of it in the country or even stop the government if they want it to remain a legal tender in that country.

I am sure I hardly see anyone that is interested in making use of Bitcoin ATMs, most people prefer to even use it online ‘cause ATMs attract a lot of fees. With that said, what these people have done is very bad. I don’t see the need for all this violence because it doesn’t make any sense at all breaking all these things just because of an ordinary cryptocurrency that was made legal in the country.

But why would people go to the extent of vandalism?? Sorry but This is showcasing ones primitive behavior! There are better ways to express your displeasure against this other than trying to break property that has not wronged anybody from where it's mounted. If you aren't a cryptocurrency believer keep using fiat and any crypto products won't hurt you this way. If you want to protest try doing so using banners or something and your voice will be heard!

Anyone doing this sort of hooliganism needs to be arrested and thrown behind bars. This sort of activity should be nipped in the bud. If this sort of behavior is tolerated now, then tomorrow they will start burning down the shops that accept Bitcoin. And the day after that they will start attacking people who want to make payments with Bitcoin. Enough is enough. No one has the right to damage private property. It is so wrong. Any level of tolerance shown by the government will send the wrong message and it will further encourage similar criminal behavior.

It was most likely arranged by banks, who are paid advocates of the US dollar.Because banks can't do anything about bitcoin right now, they're trying various methods to get rid of it, but it's not going to work. Cryptocurrencies are already popular, and at least half of the people who use banks use bitcoin in some manner, and watching that figure increase is their greatest concern.

If you don't like bitcoin, you can simply not use it and just continue using your preferred. Why need to cause damage? It's not like fiat users are going to be affected. Something's just so suspicious about this.

Yes sir you are right. But i don't think so that this matter is simple and light. I think there is something phishy. This not only about a matter of bitcoin and fiat currency. It could be a matter of poletical too. And for me its normal. I already predict that this type of things going to be in El Salvador. Well what we face in bitcoin when bitcoin start and run this 10 year only ignorence. We didn't get support. Because people take time to approve. It might be happen in physical now because people now ingore bitcoin in el salvador but they will approve soon. But now they can damage things because they can touch it and all are physical things. But they will understand very soon. I hope soo.

it is not surprising that there are some demonstrators who are destroying the infrastructure that supports bitcoin there because of their lack of education about bitcoin. Nayib must have predicted this would happen.

wait until the situation calms down then educating the bitcoin haters is something that must be done nayib

This is just outrageous and show on how immature some people are in terms of their perspective towards the future.

Like what most have mentioned, if you do not support something, then just do not use it. Showing any kind of external act (e.g. destroying BTC ATMs, proteststing, etc.) only worsens the situation and show on how people are close minded about considering the future of money. The fact that in El Salvador BTC was considered to be legal tender is a move that most countries should have considered.

I do hope that these people would open their eyes and perspective about their movement towards anti-BTC.

not only immature but also law breaker and wild , imagine that the ATM machine has nothing to do and only sitting in their area yet being broken?
Those violator must be put on jail to learn their mistakes.

Exactly the point , they have still dollars circulating so why bother breaking machines that only reserve for bitcoin users?

this will take time , since the government did not completely asked them before this adoption .

I don't know if what you're saying is true since you didn't cite any source, I doubt that banks are the only reason why this could possibly happen, although, it may be true, but to destroy government property? I think at this point it's those citizens who just really hate Bitcoin and how the world is transforming digitally, those who are close-minded and probably those who hate the changes made by the government.

But I guess a single ATM machine won't hurt anything, and that man is definitely paid to do that, even a hater won't do that unless he/she is paid to do so.

Some action must be taken against those peoples, dont know what is their problem with bitcoin it is only for the betterment of them only . If they learn about it and start using it themselves then they would know what exactly is bitcoin.

Hmm.. this is a very valid argument. I have seen critics argue that the government should have conducted a referendum before unilaterally declaring Bitcoin as the legal tender. But I don't think that it was necessary. If the government is going to replace USD with BTC, then obviously three is a need for referendum. But here, they have given the people just another choice. For that, I don't think that there is a need. Those who use the US Dollar will continue to do so, and the only thing is that Bitcoin users now have the freedom to use the currency they prefer to use.

things that are common in every government decision taken will cause pros and cons, causing chaos at the beginning. but in the end I think it is the power of the government that will overcome this, because the people of course have to obey the rules that have been set. I think continuing this decision is a good path, and will eventually get used to everyone to use bitcoin

things that are common in every government decision taken will cause pros and cons, causing chaos at the beginning. but in the end I think it is the power of the government that will overcome this, because the people of course have to obey the rules that have been set. I think continuing this decision is a good path, and will eventually get used to everyone to use bitcoin

Not like that... In a democratic country, people have the right to protest against decisions taken by the government (but peacefully). And for those who are saying that the government should have conducted a referendum - back in 2001, when the government decided to make US Dollar as the legal tender, there was no referendum being done. No one complained about it back then. So why anyone should be having a problem now? And back then, it was replacement of Salvadoran Colon by the United States Dollar. This time it is not replacement, but the addition of another option.

That is how greedy people can be sometimes. I believe back then they believe that the US Dollar was going to continue to be like the US Dollar  Grin but unfortunately, that is not the case and I believe what you said, it is not a replacement but you can choose to use which ever one that is ok with you, so I strongly believe that this action is backed by some person(s) and I believe this too will settle.

this will take time , since the government did not completely asked them before this adoption .

Hmm.. this is a very valid argument.
Yes i understand your argument but still this is new to the people in that country and majority of them don't even know what is this currency , Maybe at least showing respect for the people you are holding is indeed necessary and this is what i think the problem here as the people of El Salvador is seeking for their rights to be asked first before inputting something to their living.
yes they still have option but yet they are not being asked.
but of course what ever their concern is? they still have no rights to act like Bandits breaking property here there and everywhere .

For the opposition, this is like the ideal opportunity. It may take some time for the ordinary people to get adjusted to Bitcoin. The opposition is going to use this duration, to their own advantage. They are going to mix fear about the unknown, with intimidation. But the question that I have is not just related to the opposition. I strongly suspect that apart from the opposition, some external actors are also involved in these protests and vandalizations. Also for the opposition parties, there are several other topics to protest on, but they are concentrating on this one specifically.

If you don't like bitcoin, you can simply not use it and just continue using your preferred. Why need to cause damage? It's not like fiat users are going to be affected. Something's just so suspicious about this.

It is El Salvador, with corruption, riots, and maybe some vigilante anti-crypto lurking in the shadows paid for by the bosses of big finance. Of course, that is the "conspiracy theory" part of it, but we can also say that these pro-dollar "activists" might be paid activists also not by big finance but by the local politicians or local bankers there. El Salvador is not a rich country that could provide security in all its cities so these small riots are happening. Maybe there is something bigger in all of this as well.
