There has always been animosity between fiat and bitcoin. This is because fiat has not been able to fully accept the presence of bitcoin. From this news, it certainly explains that cryptocurrencies need to grow over people's trust even more. To be the money of the future around the world.

if this really happened like the destruction of elsavador bitcoin ATMs then we can say this is a fear that hit the USD dollar against the bitcoin world, moreover they have to do things like that by the way they came to Salvador just to destroy bitcoin ATMs, We can define this as they are starting to panic with the bitcoin adoption process, which has been re-adopted.in certain countries today

Most likely it was planned by banks, paid supporters of the US dollar, I think it's a joke.
Banks for obvious reason can't do much about bitcoin now so they are using other mechanisms to get rid of Bitcoin but it isn't going to work, Cryptocurrencies are now widespread and there should be at least 50% of the total people that use banks also use bitcoin in some way or another and seeing this number rise is their fear.
Well their methods are getting more and more aggressive, it seems they are realizing that they are not going to be able to stop bitcoin with their propaganda and their lies and now they are relying on force to try to get their desired outcome, but this only makes them seem even more desperate, after all we know that sooner or later many governments around the world will prohibit their citizens from using bitcoin as their currencies get incredibly weak, but at the end people will do what brings them the most benefit even if that means going against the law under those circumstances.

On the day celebrating El Salvador's bicentennial of independence from Spanish rule, protesters set fire to a Bitcoin ATM in the capital, San Salvador. Currently the government provides 200 Bitcoin ATM machines. Protesters in the capital's central square held high placards denouncing dictatorships and the words "respect the constitution and no Bitcoin" El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele condemned the protests and said: in a televised ceremony he said the protesters were being financed by the international community.

During all these years.. we were discussing about the possibility of fiat and cryptocurrency co-existing. But that possibility looks increasingly unlikely nowadays, as fiat proponents are viewing cryptocurrency as a more efficient competitor. They have this fear that cryptocurrency would make fiat obsolete. And what happened in El Salvador is just a trailer. We will witness increasing hostility from the governments as well as fiat proponents on the coming years. For the fiat fanboys, it is a matter of their very survival and I expect them to fight cryptocurrency with tooth and nail.

I think this is one of the few explanations possible, otherwise we will need to believe that people that probably until a few months ago did not knew anything about bitcoin and that have never received a bitcoin payment, and that most likely will never do, have a reaction so strong against bitcoin? I simply do not buy it, however it is fair to wonder how far those that are funding these protests are willing to go as having control of the monetary supply is critical to have control of a country.

I don't see the big issue as to why they are doing this. There's no news circulating around, or at least none that I know of, of El Salvador's bitcoin adoption process inconveniencing people in the process. Like are there people who lost their job because of this? Or at they simply doing this out of spite and in support for their measly dollars? Times like these really brings me back to that one quote Ezio from Assassin's Creed left us with. "They condemn what they do not understand".
This should be the case. Although personally, I wouldn't just sanction them with incarceration or fines but would also rollout information campaigns about bitcoin so the people would understand how it really works. Because these people just hate on bitcoin due to the fact that they have no idea what it is or how it works. "Respect the constitution" is already a dead giveaway to that

And in the end the government will win, and I think this is just the beginning and it's only natural that there are pros and cons because not everyone understands bitcoin and its purpose. and for those who don't understand bitcoin and cons can be easily influenced and this kind of thing often happens in any country, just the problem is different and in the end the government will win. Just wait for the next few months, will it get more chaotic or vice versa. and the government must act decisively on this incident and also conduct an investigation what caused them to destroy it and there must be a mastermind behind it.

Even I don't understand why those people are destroying the bitcoin ATMs and making protests against bitcoin ? What loss/damage does it cost them to use bitcoin and even if it does cost a damage then why don't they not use bitcoin at first place. It's not like the government is prohibiting the use of USD and only accepting bitcoin. They still have both the options and people can choose what they like. This act by those people seems like some anti-bitcoin group is funding them to do such actions against bitcoin. If the government wants then they can penalize or punish the people involved in such acts but it's for their good that they are not doing any such things.

Violence and hooliganism are regular occurrences during politically motivated protests in Latin American region. The government needs to react with an iron hand. Or maybe this is what the protestors want. Then they can claim that the government is being too authoritarian on the protestors. In a way, I support the moderate approach taken by the president, Nayib Bukele. By allowing the protests to continue, the president has made sure that the public gets to see the vandalism and violence that they bring with them. And in the long run, this may turn the public opinion against the protestors.

In this way, the public will be able to judge how the perpetrators of the destruction, which I think are not victims or the people, are burdened by the decisions made by the government. we will see how the government of El Salvador handles this problem to continue to provide security and financial guarantees for the use of bitcoin and crypto in the country.

It will just increase the hate on bitcoin but that doesn't mean the gov shouldn't punish these people. They just need to make them pay for the harm they caused and they won't do it again. If they can't pay for the mess they created then send them to prison.

IMHO, I believe in a democratic country everyone has the right to say or comment their observation about the issues that affect us all, But vandalism, looting, and violence is not part of our rights, and why they destroyed a Bitcoin ATM in the first place, the Bitcoin ATM has nothing to do with them. they can do peaceful protest and make it more civilized.

It's easy for them to oppose bitcoin, but it's too hard to accept it. I hope they have the opportunity to learn and understand bitcoin.
why don't they have a chance to learn what bitcoin is? every time is an opportunity to learn bitcoin especially now information about bitcoin is no longer difficult to find on google. they just refuse to believe in anything new (bitcoin), they think that bitcoin will cause an economic crash as China says..

@bryant.coleman I am here for “it is not replacement, but addition to another option”. Bitcoin can run parallel to the fiat currency and that’s exactly what is happening in El Salvador, if you don’t like it, don’t use it. There’s no compulsion but these violent tactics are highly condemnable.

It was only one machine out of 200 and everyone has to talk about that. Million people have made BTC transactions and bought something, interest nobody? For 30$ in Bitcoin you can buy something good to eat and drink, that ist realy nice. But a burning ATM is interesting. Look at that: Quelle: https://twitter.com/nayibbukele/status/1441846960332361730

Opposition, that's the answer and renting out some groups to wreak havoc as if they don't accept the existence of Bitcoin in El Salvador. But what we know, even though Bitcoin is legalized, is not to shift the position of the Dollar. Then why would they do such a heinous thing. So it's a shame that El Salvador has to take care of these kinds of people.

Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.
The article doesn't mention anything about these people supporting the US dollar, so your thread "headline" is false and deceitful. These people are protesting against Bitcoin because it is symbolic of the current government who are applying band-aids to major wounds in the country. Having a second official currency doesn't change anything for the average person in El Salvador and it is actually even worse now. As the government decided to go on a spending spree with taxpayer money that could have been spent on improving roads, education, utilities or any number of other benefits to society. Instead they choose to waste money buying up this highly speculative cryptocurrency and force the citizens to pay for their gamble. That is why people are protesting.

That's the usual media exposure, they're showing the worst even it's not really that much. But when it comes to good news, they're not showing that news to the people. This is how the news/media works. But with this progress that the president's account himself is the one that reports, this is still fine despite there's no news that are vocally speaking about it.

Well, not all are fond of Bitcoin to start with plus a lot are still opposing it. One of the issues I see is that the people here are not that aware of what is this Bitcoin all about, nor have the capacity or the time and effort to learn about Crypto or Bitcoin itself. Well, not all see Bitcoin as an opportunity, hence it's not that they refuse to believe but instead, they are afraid that some may be left out. Especially the poor ones, who don't have or limited access thru to modern technologies.
