Few days back on Sep 16, 2021 again i received an email from Cryptopia that i should register on Cryptopia Claims Portal in order to claim my account. I did that but then for account verification they ask so difficult questions which no one can remember like account registration date or withdrawal / deposits details. How can one remember these details Everyone know that Cryptopia have scammed and i have personally written off the money which i had in Cryptopia and told myself its lost forever. Why Cryptopia sends these emails and hurt our feelings

First, make sure that the portal is legit before providing sensitive information regarding your account. Check your email used to register at Cryptopia. Registrants, changes to account settings, every deposit and withdrawal will require confirmation via email. If you haven't deleted those messages, you're in luck.
I guess this thread belongs to service discussions, please move it.

There are many fake sites which ask you for your KYC or personal information in order to claim Cryptopia lost funds.
Just be aware of it and stay safe.

Doublecheck the link included in the email(and the email sender) if it's actually redirecting to the legitimate cryptopia website.
Also taking note that Cryptopia has been down for how many months now? So I'd automatically be skeptical.

Oh crap, I also noticed such email but didn't bother to check it and tried registering. I used to have an account there but couldn't remember if I had any money there. Fortunately, the account was created using my old email, will now check if it was a legitimate site. Supposing it was a real one, I also couldn't verify my security questions, in order to recover the account.

The email came from no-reply@cryptopia.co.nz which i think is legit. The link for the Cryptopia Claims registration will redirect to you to this portal https://portal.cryptopia.co.nz/The domain name seems ok to me. Isn't ? Below is the body of the email:- Dear Cryptopia Account Holder,
We invite you to begin the Cryptopia Limited (In Liquidation) account holder claims process.
Registering on the Claims Portal is necessary to enable you to lodge your claim.
Failure to participate in this process may mean we will be unable to return your Cryptocurrency.

Seems to be legit. Make sure you're checking the URL the correct way, by hovering your cursor over the link. If you're 100% sure, go ahead. For context, you can check out this blog post by Cryptopia: https://twitter.com/Cryptopia_NZ/status/1402875702853074948

Seems to be legit. Make sure you're checking the URL the correct way, by hovering your cursor over the link. I have already made the account and provided the required information as per my best knowledge. For sure, no one can provide the absolute correct information as no one can answer such difficult questions. In the end, the cryptopia sites says that you information cannot be validated and hence funds can't be recovered.

It's actually the same email I received, thus, I didn't stumble upon a phishing website. I tried to register simply out of curiosity, however, despite entering every detail requested, I never managed to sign up. I don't remember having a balance there, so I just abandoned it.

Their website seems to be cryptopia.co.nz This is also indicated on their Twitter account: https://twitter.com/cryptopia_nzIf you visit that website, you are being redirected to a seems like blog website ( https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/cryptopia-limited/) And all about Cryptopia updates seems to be there. There are multiple links and articles there that about Cryptopia closure, so it will help you for sure.

If this is yet another front for a scammer data mining, then even if you yourself can't recall the information, the scammers might only need to look through your post history and make an educated guess as to whether or not the information will gain them access via one of the "real" methods of recovering funds.

For as long as the email address you used with the exchange is still accessible and you didn't delete registration, withdrawal, and deposit emails, everything's still there.
But I'm quite surprised at how late others received the same Cryptopia Claims Portal Registration email. I got mine late last year. This made me ask, are the liquidators handling this with competence and efficiency? They seem to be doing things without urgency or even determination. They seem not to be serious at all. They're doing things merely out of compliance.
I still have funds in Cryptopia and while I am not hoping that I will get them back, I'm also not completely ruling out the possibility that there will indeed come a time when a refund will finally take place.

Why Cryptopia sends these emails and hurt our feelings Scammers will not comeback just to give the money the owe to their users and better verify the information you receive since for sure this one is another attempt to scam the crypto users who hope for refund, that's why people need to be careful upon the same attempt so that they will not get scam back for hoping the refund. Better move on and stay away to those platform who already run since if we see any comeback or relaunching nor attempt by using their name then its a scam.

Just check your email unless you did a message wipeout to clean your inbox. Just curious here, it's just last Sept. 16, you got that email? I have got mine last year in December. Not expecting there will be a good result but since then, I didn't receive any update. Portal registration is necessary. No choice but to comply there.

I think the Cryptopia domain was sold by someone including the data or it might be a real Cryptopia but this is suspicious I also receive an email from them to claim a portal registration.
I have withdrawal details and date and registration date according to my email but for deposit details, I don't have them so it's impossible to recover our funds from crypto.
They might be trying to fool us again and I receive the email last December. No one will trust any words from them again and I'm sure they need something from us like personal documents or they might ask to deposit a little to withdraw your old funds just like other scam exchange do.

As much as I remember, only the deposit/withdrawals history is what they are asked for on the forms. If it leads to submitting personal documents or sending an amount to withdrawal, obviously we should not entertain it. And the fact that it now takes 9 months since we got that email with no progress from there, just makes me think if there's really an ongoing development on the issue. I know it takes time but progress should at least be given within half a year.

But what choice do the users have? As much as they don't want to be fooled again, if the liquidator asks them to fill up a form like this claims portal registration, I think they would be compelled to comply. They still have funds stuck in the exchange. And they're still hoping to get them back. I guess this portal is legit. After all, this is under the control of the liquidator which is Grant Thornton New Zealand, right? But the moment a deposit is asked, it's another story.

What's troubling me is the fact that it's asking some kind of verification questions, it's something pretty simple such as the registration date, which can obviously be found on your email, if you search your emailing history. No matter what I did, I couldn't sign up to their claims portal. I'm not sure if it's an effort to steal personal data, but it really frustrated me that despite my efforts, I highly doubt that I entered something wrong.

What sort of compliance it is which have no check and balance ? If they are not serious on refunding anyone, why they are interested in collecting this data and wasting our time. I have forgotten about the Cryptopia exchange but this email brings my memory back and make me sad that i lost nearly one full bitcoin (though bitcoin was not that huge price at that time).

Everything they do because they are legally compelled to. They cannot simply abandon the ship at this point. Otherwise, multiple cases will be filed against them. So what choice do they have? They have to show that they are doing something. They have to show that there are developments resulting from their efforts. But I'm afraid this is all just minimum compliance. In other words, just a show. But I hope I'm wrong.
