Hi guys this is my first post. Reddit didn't like this post for whatever reason so I figured I would go straight to the source.
Anyway I'm quite interested in finding out who satoshi wasn't, in my much longer effort to figure out who satoshi was. Based on this I'd say Hal Finney probably wasn't satoshi.

I read somewhere that Hal mined the 78th block and that he only mined for a little while before turning it off forever. Seems like this wallet is him.
https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/59649

In this post he talks about how he's leaving the btc to his kids, who appear to have sold it within a few months of his death. (this is a couple of transactions down the rabbit hole from the 59649 wallet.
https://nakamotoinstitute.org/bitcoin-and-me/
https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/8302760

Also one final thing, in Block 9 satoshi mines 50 btc to this address and then as the story goes he sends 10 btc to Hal, but I can't seem to connect that 10 btc back to Hal, altough maybe it gets to him and he never combines it with his other btc.
https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/12cbQLTFMXRnSzktFkuoG3eHoMeFtpTu3S

just kidding I lied. one more thing. One of Hal's last posts on here connects back to my occam's razor satoshi, Adam B. Who has been trying to help create a 2nd layer of Bitcoin ever since then, apparently this one was called zerocoin, now I think he makes one called liquid.

Hal don't have to combine his bitcoin. You and me don't have to combine our bitcoin, if we don't think it is necessary. Combine is not accurate, it is consolidate, input consolidation.

If you don't want to break your wallet activities, you should not consolidate your inputs. Did you think Hal did not want to consolidate his bitcoin inputs, exclusively the input from satoshi, because he did not want to break the anonymity of his bitcoin wallet?

How to cheaply consolidate coins to reduce miner fees.
Quote
This procedure is potentially harmful to privacy because it uses many inputs in the same transactions which provides evidence of common ownership.

Anyway I'm quite interested in finding out who satoshi wasn't, in my much longer effort to figure out who satoshi was.
I think that majrority of us at some point contemplated and tried to "figure out" who Satoshi is (me too) but once I realized that bitcoin creator being anonymous is one if its strengths, I stopped with that.

Regarding Hal Finney, I wish he was behind Bitcoin, but unfortunately I don't think that he was.

When I first got to know Bitcoin, the first thing I looked for was who the creator of Bitcoin was, where did it come from, and what kind of person the satoshi said, is he tall, short, black or white, it's all confusing until now, there is no real authenticity about satoshi, maybe on Bitcointalk and google I've seen satoshi in writing, not original, for that right now i am, doing the same thing as done by: @Rikahip, stop looking for satoshi and don't want to say blah, blah, blah, blu, blu, bli, bli.

OP, your story, most likely we have seen the umpteenth time about, transactions, BTC addresses, Blocks, codes and so on regarding satoshi and Hal Finney, maybe this time i should assume satoshi is me and i am satoshi, maybe other people should think so too.

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/59649
Are you correct on this? Hal said he mined block 70-something. That doesn’t guarantee he mined 78th block unless he shared it somewhere; you didn’t share a proof either.
This is the address of Hal Finey where satoshi sent 10 bitcoin- 1Q2TWHE3GMdB6BZKafqwxXtWAWgFt5Jvm3

From this address, I found this address- 142SuQBUHiBAmcQgNL9Dbhj1aEYuCRmtSv which received 0.69 BTC & some more before. This address is connected to the 10 BTC satoshi sent to Hal Finey. Out of the 10 BTC, as said above, 0.69 BTC was sent to this address & they are still there with a total balance of 6.89 BTC.

Did you mean Adam B is satoshi? Confused but I don't think so.

Trying to find someone who doesn't want to show up or to be found is not an easy task especially if what you are tracking is anonymous. Though most people wanted to know who satoshi nakamot is but failed. Some may find but still need more proof that he/she is satoshi nakamoto we all looking for.

Op, there is one interesting thing about the quest to know the real identity of Satoshi. The interesting thing is that Satoshi cannot be known. Yes, all other people that has traced him and identified or linked two or more people appear to have failed. But in honesty, one of those persons is Satoshi. Yet, other people are also showing up claiming to be Satoshi. Just know that Satoshi is very much around, and still involved in Bitcoin projects either by himself or in proxy. No one creates something like Bitcoin and backoff completely.

Just know that Satoshi is very much around, and still involved in Bitcoin projects either by himself or in proxy. No one creates something like Bitcoin and backoff completely.

Unless that person is dead or in jail, and both possibilities are quite logical in everyday life. In fact, it doesn't matter at all who Satoshi really is, because everyone who wants to find out who he is, doesn't understand how important it is to this remain an unsolved mystery - unless someone thinks it would be better if Satoshi is still active and makes all the major decisions.

In the end, one of the most likely reasons why he left was that his closest associates started visiting secret agencies, and some others started complaining that he made all the decisions himself - which in the end was not good for his health or decentralization. The only logical decision was to disappear, which he announced when he left the matter in the hands of some other people.

With Satoshi's blessing, and with great reluctance, I'm going to start doing more active project management for bitcoin.

No one creates something like Bitcoin and backoff completely.
On the other hand I do. The creation of Bitcoin wasn't a company's startup which was planned to conquer the world with its innovative ideas. The disappearance of the creator is probably the best part of this invention. Satoshi must had schemed this before he released the software.

The purpose of it was clearly revolutionary and highly anarchic. If a person was felt by the users as the owner or the administrator or the founder, would you feel the same freedom you now feel? Their opinion would be taken differently and everyone would want to follow what he does.

Not to mention that his political beliefs would affect Bitcoin one way or another.

Yes and I agreed. If satoshi would be active until now, Im not sure if btc would have gained this achievement or worse failed. But considering the brain of that guy, Im sure it could have been more improved. His just too wise to be still here and witness all the drama of cryptocurrency especially on regulations and sec bullshitness. If youll ask me if I still want him to be active, yes but for the better purpose I think this is way better to be left unknown.

It seems like based on my research that Hal Finney isn't satoshi. Or at least that Hal made very specific efforts to make it seem like someone else was satoshi and left no fingerprints of his own.

Here's a little of the early work of satoshi whoever he is:

"Total circulation will be 21,000,000 coins.  It'll be distributed
to network nodes when they make blocks, with the amount cut in half
every 4 years.

first 4 years: 10,500,000 coins
next 4 years: 5,250,000 coins
next 4 years: 2,625,000 coins
next 4 years: 1,312,500 coins
etc...

When that runs out, the system can support transaction fees if
needed.  It's based on open market competition, and there will
probably always be nodes willing to process transactions for free."
https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg10142.html

i appreciate that they hadn't coined the term 'mining' to describe generating blocks.

gosh I was going to post this 4 hours ago but I got so far down the rabbit hole that I can't remember what I was doing.
maybe another update will come soon. Lots of messages between Hal and Satoshi.
https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg09964.html

probably a whole world of knowledge just in the replies to that post.

The fact that no one knows who's responsible for Bitcoin is what gives its power, in my opinion. Let's assume Gavin was Satoshi and instead of Satoshi Nakamoto, it was written in the whitepaper “Gavin Andresen”. The whole system would corrupt; everyone could consider Gavin as the true owner of the project and he may was even approached by governments.

Figuratively, Bitcoin would have a central point of failure.

Exactly, Vitalik's influance (along with few organization) on ETH community is the proof.
Yep. That's a perfect example. You can't really consider Ethereum decentralized due to Vitalik's influence.
