Legalized Gambling where you live..where does it stand?

I am just kind of curious how legalized gambling is coming along in whatever part of the world you live in?  I'm from Illinois in the United States and we just recently legalized many forms of gambling.  It's progressing pretty quickly too.  I'm hearing a lot of radio ads, seeing ads on TV for different sports books and what not etc.  I see this as great progress.  Free will is something we all deserve and though I know gambling can cause serious addiction etc, that shouldn't be up to our governments to decide whether we should be allowed to do it or not. 

So I ask you, how is it coming along where you live?  Is it fully legal, coming close to being legal, or illegal with no change in sight?

So far where I live gambling is still illegal and prohibited, besides referring to the country constitution and rules that are absorbed from religious rules. Maybe you know what I mean. Those of us who are in the environment of the majority of religious adherents must remain obedient to the applicable rules. Nevertheless, gambling in secret is a practice that we cannot avoid.

It's pretty much open. Sports betting and casino games are allowed but it depends whether or not the platform you are betting on is licensed. It's all about the money government gets you know hehe.

Another major difference is land-based casinos can legally operate but online gambling platforms are completely prohibited.

In where I live it is legal and there's no problem playing gambling anywhere even online as long as they have license and in regards with online gambling as long as they allow my country then I don't have any much of a problem. So they are pretty much open in terms of gambling in my country which I'm thankful for since I see some users here really struggling to use different methods in order to play gambling games online.

In my country its illegal to play gambling publicly and therefore there is no concept of legal gambling or licensed gambling. People in our company play gambling online and also the do betting online or in the offline black market of bookies. The reason is that it is religiously prohibited here to play gambling and is not considered a noble thing.

Horse racing, lottery and online gambling sites are allowed, while land based casinos and traditional gambling games such as roulette and slots machine aren't allowed anymore since 2000's. Many years ago slots were also very popular even in humble pubs and small markets, but I have just a vague memory of this, because I was too young on those times.
I believe those machines were destroyed by the government with steamrollers and now you can find them only in clandestine gambling houses. Moreover there isn't any indicator there is going to be friendly regulations soon, because the religious sector is too strong in national politics and they are totally against gambling practices.

I would like to see the countries which are making gambling illegal instead just limit the amount people can deposit on the gambling websites and casinos instead. Gambling is not immoral and is a form of entertainment which should not be banned. This is censorship and I know the reason they do it because it can lead to gambling addiction but that is why I propose that they limit the amount a person can spend based on their income to stop it becoming a problem. This might be hard to implement but I think it would be a better option then banning it completely.

in the early years of reform in the country where I live, gambling has become a legal and government-supported activity. Because maybe at that time the government was not fully organized evenly and did not have time to take care of things other than the main interests. The gambling system still uses intermediaries from bookies who roam throughout the region to spread information. Well, lottery gambling at that time was a popular gamble. But over time since 2000 until now my country recovered and started to set all the regulations so that gambling is prohibited. Finally, gamblers began to disperse and find online gambling to avoid acts that are considered criminal.

That's the story I experienced about the development of gambling where I live.

What country if you do not mind me asking lets to get off the hook for operating a illegal gambling website? AFAIK you cannot get a permit if it is illegal in that state because the people who give the permits will check where the business is located and where it is offering a service to. Even if the company and the servers of the website are located in another country where gambling is legal it is still illegal to offer gambling services to states that have made it illegal.

The habit of people who gamble but the government applies conflicting regulations. That's why gambling is considered a place we shouldn't visit. With the existence of online gambling, it is clear that it will facilitate us to continue gambling. Some of the casinos were closed where I had visited before the pandemic hit, although it was just a singing club and backstage there was a place for gamblers to hide from the local police.
In agriculture, [gambling where I live is illegal, but when you look at the environment around you, it seems like government regulations don't apply at all.

Where I live they just legalized fantasy sports betting. Now I’ll be able to bet on fantasy sports without being on vacation or having to spoof my location. With all the freedoms constantly being taken away from us lately as a result of this flu fear, it’s nice to be given a little something back. Who knows, maybe this shows that there are people out there trying to restore freedom, but more likely gambling companies hired the right lobbyists to grease the right palms and politicians being eager for more tax revenue.

Gambling in my country is still illegal and will likely forever be illegal...

Gambling is taboo in my country because of government regulations that still adhere to religious teachings. even places where illegal gambling stands are always closed. I think it's good to prevent underage people from gambling and becoming gambling addicts.

^ There are various games that consider as coming to illegal just like online games that are against the house edge. But on sports betting, I don't think so, it seems that is legalized here in my country. As long as you are not fighting against the house edge, you are on the legal side.
Probably the government has an insight into online gambling that will easily be addictive, not like sports betting, you need to wait more time before you will have the result, there is no need to sit in front of your PC or laptop playing and consume hours to play.

Legal but it's totally different.

There's no ads in different medias about it. It's plain and simple, the government doesn't really push it but they're taking a huge part from the gambling industry.

At first, is gambling supposed to be illegal?
Gambling is left to whosoever are interested in it and becoming addictive is nobody's concern. The government are not supposed to restrict us from placing bets and using gambling platforms of our favorite. The right age to gamble is 18+ while in some countries might be reduced like 16+. The only way government can come in is to reduce the access of gambling to adolescents and children below the acceptable age.

In the country where i live, running a gambling company is still prohibitted for individuals and companies as well. This sector is monopolized by the government in form of a single society who run gambling contests for national championships only.
Honestly, it's difficult to determine if this is good for the community or not as i personally believe that gambling is a personal choice and the authorities shouldn't interfer in this field. Howevr, it's clear that our government can't find the way to tax the gambling activities for both companies and individuals.
This would surely mean that individuals aren't allowed to use other forms of gambling, especially we are not allowed to have international cards (Visa,Credit,Paypal,...). But since the start of the crypto era, many users enjoy gambling within based-crypto gambling websites as they can purchase cryptocurrencies from local sellers then sell their earnings to local buyers as well.

There’s a money in gambling so in my country its legal though with regards to crypto gambling, there’s no announcement yet but still we can gamble at any currency online since there’s no regulations that strict us from gambling. This is good and yes many countries already legalized gambling since this can help their economy rise again and to prevent those gambling activities on a black market.

Our government is very supportive in gambling and we even allowed foreign companies to operate on us considering that they’ll pay taxes, it’ll be good. Lots of Chinese companies came into my country to operate their gambling activities, its legal and we don’t have problems with regards to gambling. We can also play on most of the crypto gambling site freely without worrying if its legal or not.

The current situation is I would say not legal overall, I mean most of the gambling businesses are mostly controlled by foreign owners although in paper the owners are local, and our government has the law that it's illegal for the locals to gamble since gambling is only for foreign. I understand the intention as they don't want people to get addicted to gambling but the government wants to benefit from the taxes they collected from casinos.

I don't know if it will change but in times of pandemic, maybe it's possible as the government will certainly find a way to increase their revenue and probably they see already the potential of the source which is the gambling industry.
