Good Day, fellow miners!

Hope all of you are already rich Cool

Recently I've been contacted by a power generation company that wants to build a mining hotel.
They want to start with just about 10MW and then double, triple, quadruple....

They have a few buildings on site, here is how they look like: https://youtu.be/VbW3fngQB2Q
Some have lots of stuff to remove:

Of course, some work with walls will be required, we will have the air inflow on the ground level, install filters there, and then miners will be placed on the 1st and 2nd floors near the walls with active exhaust ventilation.

I know some people here are pretty creative, if anyone could share any ideas about anything, including automation, it would be great!
We can schedule a zoom call or discuss here.

I am thinking about building all software-related things with my team, as I couldn't google any complete solutions to automatically troubleshoot miners en masse without a human involvement.

Ventilation and power automation solutions are OK - they are present on the market.

Please share your thoughts, if you don't mind Smiley

---
UPDATE 1 (2021-DEC-24):
First miners installed in the building: https://youtu.be/O4VCHQ08kMI
This room will have the capacity to supply 1/2 MW.

Looks great!

Hope you hire a licensed electrician this time so that this farm doesn't catch a flame!

Good luck on your business ventures.  Cheesy

Thanks, it was not related to anyone being licensed, even proven technical solutions fail sometimes.
This time we will have a slightly different setup.

Looks great!

Interesting concept for sure but I would like to see how they can pay for that electric bill plus guests usage and still be profitable enough to stay in business, especially in a bear market.  I like the idea and I think you could pull it off for sure I would just ensure the financials make sense.

One of the mining hotel locations is being built right now:

Other locations are in the process to have existing buildings remodeled and mining containers installed.
At this point we were able to acquire all the necessary equipment within acceptable time frames and we hope that virus won't spoil the fun.

Will update this thread later with more content.

Some flights with equipment from China got delayed.
Assembling the first room in the building at the smaller location. This power plant is capable of providing only up to 4 MWh.
It will have a few rooms like this and containers outside.

And here is a video of the first container:

https://youtu.be/hl-NKTJaBPE

Actually, setting up such mining hotels is an interesting job. You get to meet variety of people - from construction workers to the fund managers who want to invest. And you have to know how to properly speak with both types of people to get what you need.
If anyone wants to share their experience - please do so, I also want to learn best practices from others.

You perhaps meant to say 4MW (MegaWatts)?.
MW is the the measure of power capacity available at any point in time whereas MWh is MegaWatt/hours which is a measure of total power usage over time (hours)...

Mining is not easy as many people think and is very difficult to have mining farm as private, because if it's easy it would have be every where, the picture in background is showing that the farm is large and i appreciate it very well.

Since there will be a whole lot of heat in there, how about the  cooling system ?
It seems to be a cold out there though.

We are fine with cooling - it will all be handled by fans. I am looking into routine automation platforms for miming, and actually already found some.

As of now, everything is going well, thanks for asking.
Because of sanctions, this mining farm is able to make the prices even lower than before. Probably some of the cheapest in the world for the industrial scale mining.
And there is no need for swift, thanks to Bitcoin!

UPD: This post is not about finding clients. Just as it says in the description - I am looking to learn about the innovative Mining Hotel management solutions and share progress.

I see no PDUs and many small MCBc near the miners, they all look a single-pole so how do you wire the Natural and Ground? can you take a closer picture showing the MCB wiring and explain a bit your set-up?  your setup is kind of similar to mine, I don't use PDUs (want to start using them for better management) and I join the power cord wires together, this is probably against the code for many countries like the U.S so it could scare a few folks away lol.

Sure, we decided not to use any power outlets for as much as we can, since I had a fire accident once and it was determined a weak point.
So the circuit breaker is right there and it is very convenient to control miners on the spot.
Miners connect to the power source in the blue boxes right below the MCBs:

Joining power cords, in my personal opinion, doesn't hurt, if you've done the calculations (which I am sure you did).
The owners here are extra careful and they don't want to have a slight chance of hurting people's equipment, so would probably not allow us to experiment with the electrical part.
Chinese people just brought lots of miners, and it seems like they still have lots of them sitting in China and not doing anything (I am surprised, because the hashrate already recovered).
Or maybe they still mine, just on a smaller scale Wink

I see no PDUs and many small MCBc near the miners, they all look a single-pole so how do you wire the Natural and Ground? can you take a closer picture showing the MCB wiring and explain a bit your set-up?  your setup is kind of similar to mine, I don't use PDUs (want to start using them for better management) and I join the power cord wires together, this is probably against the code for many countries like the U.S so it could scare a few folks away lol.

Yeah, you are right Smiley they came from China, together with the maintenance team... they have thousands of these machines, and while there is an opportunity to make a few cents, they don't want to miss it. On the large scale it pays off.

And then there is condition of the miners...

Sure, we decided not to use any power outlets for as much as we can, since I had a fire accident once and it was determined a weak point.
So the circuit breaker is right there and it is very convenient to control miners on the spot.

This is the main reason why I join the power cables this way, electricity prefers more surface contact and as tight as possible, I checked the local market I didn't find any power outlets or PDUs that seemed safe to handle a few KWs worth of power, so ditched that idea.

The problem with your approach (and mine) is the time it takes to connect those power cords, it's a lot of effort especially if it's 1-2 people doing it on a large scale, it's a lot easier to just connect your 3 or 5 wires to the PDU and be set to connect 10-15 miners.

The other problem is that most of those connectors (yours is blue) don't have wholes that fit 1-2mm2 or anything as small, usually the smallest will be 4mm2 which means you are forced to join a few power cords together to be able to tighten them.

But all in all, this way is a lot cheaper since high-quality PDUs are very, very expensive.

And then there is condition of the miners...
Those poor Avalon's (841's?) are in horrid shape... Where in the hell did they come from?

The miners you see on the floor are just about the average of the majority of used miners that come from China, the majority of miners in China used to move their gears twice a year to places with cheaper power, so it doesn't seem like they have spent a lot of money on the infrastructure of at least one of the locations since they only mined there for 1/3 or the year or so.

Also, the majority of mining operations were near 'water' at places with high levels of humidity, getting a used miner that does not have some sort of corrosion on it is not normal, a long story short, the majority of used miners in China are ABUSED and many do not even work.

This justifies the fact that buying mining gears from trusted resellers will cost A LOT more than buying directly from the farm owner because a good reseller will test the miners, clean them, change a few 6 pin connectors which are usually corroded, pack the miner in a proper way and ship it to you, this process can increase the miner's cost by 10-30% easily.

Seems like you've dealt with China Smiley That's exactly correct. They also have "high water season" which forces to move miners around a lot. They even build unofficial secret hydro power plants, where conditions are not that great.

Also, the majority of mining operations were near 'water' at places with high humidity, getting a used miner that does not have some sort of corrosion on it is not normal, a long story short, the majority of used miners in China are ABUSED and many do not even work.

So the sign is in Chinese - guess what -- most of the miners in there - and probably a lot of the workers as well - came from Chinese farms so it makes sense that the OP used some signage to make them feel at home. A different post by the OP states that this place IS in Russia.

or maybe the supposed mining facility is a big scam?  chinese signs in russian territory ?  ...  omg...

Your clownery in this thread is pathetic.

First, you claim to make this project to be targeted by the "Anonymous" Grin
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5388084.0

Then you make this allegation...

For anyone reading this:
We've been in contact with this person and he wanted to work with us. Now he can't do it for political reasons (sanctions, can't raise capital to place miners in Russia).

I also understand that your own project is ruined, because it was based on mining with cheap electricity:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5347550.60

Try to accept your failure like a man. If it's mental - please try to seek professional help.

I have no interest in having any further conversations with you. Good luck with your endeavours!

I certainly don't need you, i have my facilities where i mine. Plus, you're the one sanctioned, not me.

Anyway it doesn't make sense me to continue because nobody from abroad  , aside from north korea, will be crazy enough to contact you whatsoever for the foreseeable future.

People will know better where to allocate their funds, they're not stupid.

For sure now they  know something more..

Ah don’t hate a guy cause he was born in the ‘wrong’ country.

He also said he does not want investors.

What does interest me is if Russia 🇷🇺 declares martial law and shuts the net down will hash rate drop like a mofo. at the moment hashrate is way down.

I suspected the Ukraine 🇺🇦 has had major net and power outages which may have put many miners off line.

If Russia decides to cut the net off will its miners be cut off?

Will China 🇨🇳 help the miners in Russia out?

This war may finally be a real test for BTC.

Will Btc become a free world coin ?

Now This is not politics per say. I am not taking sides here. I was born in USA 🇺🇸 and served in USN.

but I have been around long enough to see the patterns of war. Mostly rich motherfuckers manipulate the masses to get richer.

Some good questions and points here...
if Russia shuts net down how this would affect global mining picture I wonder??

with most governments trying to implement CBDCs and more and more countries recognising BTC as legal tender
bitcoin sooner than soon is to become the new world currency

Cause is not before and effect is not after

Thank you for the questions!

1. If Russia decides to cut the net off will its miners be cut off?
- Some will be cut off, but then satellite internet will do the thing; however, due to the high cost and latency, I believe: (a) not all miners will be able to afford it, only the larger ones (b) their luck will be lower (more stale blocks), so miners in other countries will have a better probability of earning more.

2. Will China 🇨🇳 help the miners in Russia out?
- Very unlikely. From what I see China is really strict on mining. And Kazakhstan will not help either, they are having issues right now, so their miners are partially relocating to Russia even in these uncertain times.

3. This war may finally be a real test for BTC.
- Seems so. It should pass the test, as long as we all have internet communication....

4. Will Btc become a free world coin ?
- Hope so.

Just amazing seeing these images, Wishing you guys the best of luck.

Thank you  Cheesy

- That would make miners in other countries richer, but it is still not very likely to happen at this point. I can imagine Chinese version of firewall in place, which can be circumvented with VPN traffic going to the private server, or satellite internet.

2. with most governments trying to implement CBDCs and more and more countries recognising BTC as legal tender bitcoin sooner than soon is to become the new world currency
- We will know it is happening once oil and other important commodities will start trading for BTC.
