Sure, we decided not to use any power outlets for as much as we can, since I had a fire accident once and it was determined a weak point.
So the circuit breaker is right there and it is very convenient to control miners on the spot.
This is the main reason why I join the power cables this way, electricity prefers more surface contact and as tight as possible, I checked the local market I didn't find any power outlets or PDUs that seemed safe to handle a few KWs worth of power, so ditched that idea.
The problem with your approach (and mine) is the time it takes to connect those power cords, it's a lot of effort especially if it's 1-2 people doing it on a large scale, it's a lot easier to just connect your 3 or 5 wires to the PDU and be set to connect 10-15 miners.
The other problem is that most of those connectors (yours is blue) don't have wholes that fit 1-2mm2 or anything as small, usually the smallest will be 4mm2 which means you are forced to join a few power cords together to be able to tighten them.
But all in all, this way is a lot cheaper since high-quality PDUs are very, very expensive.
And then there is condition of the miners...
Those poor Avalon's (841's?) are in horrid shape... Where in the hell did they come from?
The miners you see on the floor are just about the average of the majority of used miners that come from China, the majority of miners in China used to move their gears twice a year to places with cheaper power, so it doesn't seem like they have spent a lot of money on the infrastructure of at least one of the locations since they only mined there for 1/3 or the year or so.
Also, the majority of mining operations were near 'water' at places with high levels of humidity, getting a used miner that does not have some sort of corrosion on it is not normal, a long story short, the majority of used miners in China are ABUSED and many do not even work.
This justifies the fact that buying mining gears from trusted resellers will cost A LOT more than buying directly from the farm owner because a good reseller will test the miners, clean them, change a few 6 pin connectors which are usually corroded, pack the miner in a proper way and ship it to you, this process can increase the miner's cost by 10-30% easily.
