Just heard that website and it sounds like a cloud mining. Unfortunately, there's no way you can recover those fund, sorry for the loss.

0.5 BTC back in 2015 was only around $100, but today it's just under $30 000 and I realize that many today are starting to remember that they used to have BTC a long time ago. However, if we look at the thread linked in the post above, it seems that the whole story ended the same year it started - so I think the chances of getting your BTC back are almost zero.

However, the owner of this ponzi scheme is publicly exposed, so maybe you can find and contact him - it will only cost you time.

I never heard of this site before I check their website if what it looks like so it's a cloud mining site that is offering an investment with a contract.

I found this https://www.ebay.com/usr/pbmining and it seems that the owner is living in Canada base on his eBay account registered May 9, 2012.
Other than that they don't have personal contact info to reach them.

They already have a bad reputation here on the forum. So I think you don't have any chance to find them or to contact them.

Just forget about the bitcoins, you are never going to get them back from a Ponzi scheme promoter.
From what I read in one of the threads, I believe they exit scammed. They ran out of funds to pay out, and so they used an excuse of losses due to invasion of privacy and blackmail.

Kidding aside, dont expect for those coins to get them back.Just move on and take this as a lesson learn.Cloudming mining is shit.

I skimmed thru their ANN thread starting from 262 and he was doxxed pretty hard because he has left traces all over. It's as bad as not hiding the whois data of your phishing website from public, see: Definitive proof the owner of pbmining is a scammer   But there's also a good chance he may have learned his lesson after that.

Long answer: If you're very rich and willing to waste lots of money and time to track and sue them, it's not impossible, although IMO it's not probable.

They only pretend to return customer's funds by return very small fraction of what they stole.

Fortunately, the fund has gone forever, because when you had invested there was one of the Ponzi schemes and as far as I know there was a trend of investing in Ponzi.  A few people have gotten back their funds and a few people who invest at the last moment lost a lot of money. So I think you are one of them who had invested in last time. There is no possibility to get back money from them. If you can manage legal authority against them then there is a possibility but not sure if the fund would be refunded to you. This is not an easy task to arrest them, so it's better to forget and concentrate on the future

I've also invested some coins in PBMining, Eobot, and other such sites in the past and all of them ended up as exit scammers. I'm still wondering how much money have I invested in both of these sites, though I believe that it was roughly below $50 in bitcoin for each of these sites back then. Anyway, that recovery thread that they posted years ago never really returned anything substantial to the community. It was a way for them to buy time to clean up their tracks before they completely disappear. That 0.5 btc could have been a lot more right now if only you held on to it and not trusted any cloud mining sites that popped up on the hey days of 2013 - 2015.

I am afraid the chances of getting this money back are close to zero. There are a lot of people in the queue to recover money from pbmining and from what I can see from the long list of scam accussation threads, no one has managed to get anything back.

Almost 7 years past already and unfortunately there's nothing you can do to recover your funds back which is scammed by them, I wonder many years past but you didn't move on from that fund? Maybe you should take that as learning experience and avoid any cloudmining site which offer you to gain a long term profit from them. Also bitcoin transaction is not reversible so don't expect anything if you already sent your funds to unknown platforms.

To be honest, no one really bothered to really find him, or sue him after his identity became known - and the reason is that it all happened at a time when Bitcoin was only worth a few hundred dollars. I'm sure any qualified investigator would easily track him down, unless he really tried and disappeared somewhere in the wild.

There is information about him even before he became a bad boy on the Internet, and all those who lost hundreds or thousands of BTC should go to Canada (Saskatoon) which is the right place to start the search.
