Wow, I don't think that will happen to a gambler who can only spend a small amount of money each week, like me.
I don't really understand, how do you lose 20k (trying to get some big wins by buying 'bonuses' instead of spinning the spins)? If you don't make a spin, then how can you get a big win, by you buying a bonus, I think it's the same as you doing a spin, right? Or can you say, you expect a jackpot?
I can't imagine, if you only expect the jackpot, then how can you keep spending your money until it reaches 20k? I think it's something I can't do, instead of expecting a jackpot why not just normal bet with betting options with big odds, I think it will be a bet with lots of trials which of course, the chance of winning big is very open.

^ I have doubt that has a common strategy that will probably easily wipe out your entire balance is the martingale strategy, people that can afford a big amount will usually use this method and since this is a big risk, it could also be a big win if you are lucky enough on that day. That is right, $20k is quite big enough but I think if he bet in a maximum level amount it could be enough. Nevertheless, a possible reason why it become $20k is because of chasing lose instead of having self-control, the problem of most gamblers who want to take a risk but I think that is fine if losing $20k is the amount that you can afford.

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

Certainly you're still quite lucky enough because you managed to stop even if your mind tells you to take back and recover from your lose, because that's the most crucial moment before you get yourself addicted from gambling. The problem with gambling addiction stems from that 'false hope' where a gambler thinks that he can recover his losses by gambling again. I call this term as the 'gambler's cycle' where a person continues to gamble believing that he would be able to recover his losses by gambling.

Personally, I have seen my brother suffered from this addiction. Heck, he even has this urge to gamble away his monthly income despite telling me that he would "STOP" after winning one such round.

Like what Rufsilf said, it is a good thing that you managed to do a 'reality check' on yourself and stop the damage from increasing.

That's right, you were trying to win back your past losses. Those who come to the casino to win back can never leave the casino satisfied. Try to change your mindset towards gambling and make playing poker or betting on sports a kind of entertainment like going to the movies or meeting up with friends. Only by changing your mindset will you stop being addicted to gambling and be able to truly enjoy the game and not the winnings.

Maybe it's time for you to seek some professional help.Nobody in the forum is an actual expert about hot to deal with gambling addiction.Perhaps there are some gambling addicts,who got rid of their addiction.They are the right people,who can help you.I've never had a true gambling addiction in my life,so I can't give you any valuable advise.Saying "just quit gambling" simply doesn't work.
I've had a gaming addiction 3 years ago,but this is way less harmful than being addicted to gambling,drugs or alcohol.

Based on his post he is ok he doesn't mind about the loss, his profit comes from his trading and he seems to be able to recover that in the future, he just want to stop playing at the right time, we gamblers have this something in mind that keeps telling us that the next roll is where we recover all our losses, which we all know are false hopes, he requests exclusion after he placed his bets so he can stop playing which I doubt since there are a lot of casinos here that he can play, that is very much similar to where he is playing which is Stake.com the one he is playing right now.
Good luck to him hopefully he can find a way to succeed in controlling his urge, he has done it in trading, he can also do it in gambling.

Gambling addiction is terrible.  Ask yourself a question - "What interests me in life besides playing slot machines?"  Do you like sports?  Do you love nature?  Do you like sex? 

You need to improve your lifestyle. 

One more point.  One addiction can be overcome with another addiction. 

For example, instead of gambling, you can start playing computer games.  This is also interesting and exciting.

Money comes and go so you just have to take a break and breath well, eat good food, go catch fun and relax your mind. Loses is never stoppable in gambling. If you have become an addict and try to play other games or reduce gambling activities in my opinion that is not a good way, because as long as it is related to gambling, the possibility of addiction will still exist and will do the same thing and remember the losses that occur.
My advice is to quit completely if the addiction is harming you, and in whatever way you think you can handle it until you are completely free of the addiction.
And after a long time if you want to gamble again you can bet on your new self and learn from your previous mistakes and follies, and still better not to.

Be grateful that you realized so quickly that no one is safe from heavy losses in gambling. Apart from stopping everything before it's too late. You can learn from mistakes and everyone has experienced it.
The rest is to make gambling just for entertainment, nothing more and nothing less. It is the mere limit of entertainment that will not make someone addicted to gambling.

I have been gambling for over 10 years and have no gambling addiction. The craving for them is as strong as the craving to watch the next new movie or buy a new smartphone. You can buy a new smartphone, or you can do without, because there is an old one. The main thing to understand is that people come to the casino to lose money and get emotions in return. If a person comes to the casino to win it means he already has a gambling addiction and he needs help from professionals or his family.

The gamble you are doing is too extreme when you look at the time you join with the losses you receive.
you should try to reduce your habit about this and don't get too emotional when you experience a loss because this will only increase the amount of loss you receive.
and don't you forget that you live in the real world and here we need money to survive.

It's hard task finding your own will to control your gambling addiction, you nailed it, there's something inside us as gambler who keeps dictating that luck will be in our side just keep rolling and all those losses will be recovered, It's a tough job to ignore that voice behind, but if you manage to control and not to allow it to manipulate you, the chance is high that you will be more responsible for how you act inside the casino.

Your money to protect and you're responsible for making a good call in each time you place your bets. Set a limit and not to exceed. Lots of practice to be done, so you'll be able to learn things the right way.

Chasing loses is never been ideal to do because it would just make things even more worst and there's no such thing about being rich or limitless funds

It is really great that you've seen sense, it was the only way out to rebuild - just let your losses go. Do not hide from the pain but use it to remind yourself in future of how futile gambling is to you. Your money making skill is apparently trading, keep your focus on that and acquire money using those skills instead of trying to take shortcuts again in future . You're already an expert of at least one thing, don't fritter away your hard earned money to another company like this any longer! The hardest part may be temptation in future so be aware of whatever might trigger the urges for you (seeing a TV adverts, walking past a casino), acknowledge the thought and dismiss it with your new found strength of mind.
