Here is the finalize thoughts and last post that i will be made regarding on my betting addictions and about this post .

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

Let me clarify on this again.

Yes, it was totally dumb to bet 20k of my profits into gambling. Learnt my lesson from it and will recover from here and hope in the future will not have the same thing happen again.

And about sportsbetting , want to clarify that personally i love MMA . from the start to the end , even before i start trading i do started to watch MMA/boxing etc. and the 'sports' i bet is on MMA with 'extra' cash. this weekend will be my last sportsbetting for awhile until 3 month (decided to go for 3 month) and fully focusing on my trading and my RL works ( to help forget about gambling ) . Will constantly update on this thread about what going on and did i success on 'exclude' myself from betting.


My aim right now : Stop gambling on (slots,online casino thingy) . Sportsbet ( i will continue even after my 3 month exclusion , checked with my previous record,  not even 6-1 years of betting in sportsbet lose more than 20k in 2 days. )

Sometimes you have to think, that you live in the real world, gambling as a method of entertainment and pleasure for you, no one can advise you, except: You yourself must be aware that gambling has been known since time immemorial, in 100 gambling addicts only 1 is really lucky with complete concentration and control.

You shouldn't be complaining right now and quitting after the $20k you've spent including profits, you should think about quitting before your $20k is gone, you need to rest and calm yourself for a while, forget gambling and losing for a while, once you calm down and sober up, then you take further conclusions to take the losses you have spent or stop for good.

Just take gamble as fun and the important thing is always gamble with what you exactly afford to lose. If you just play with a little capital then you can take the lose easily. When you gamble with a big capital then mind always want to recover the fund. And when You try 2nd time to recover the lose You will again lose your money. Thus the addiction is increased. So the important thing to don't gamble with big capital what You does not afford to lose.

Sorry to hear that. To lose 20000 $ within 2 days is no joke as this is an amount, that a lot of people don't even have available. From what you are describing, it really sounds like the typical signs of a gambling addiction to me, because you just wanted to keep on gambling probably to win the money back, that you have already lost but on 99% of the cases that is the worst thing you can do. At least you are already aware of your possible gambling addiction which is the first big step to overcome it.

That amount is very huge, even I was addicted for over 5 years plus but I did not lose up to that after series of staking with the money I even thought was very high in amount for me. One thing about gambling is to first know that you should only and only use only the amount of money you can afford to lose in a way if lost you will never think about it. I do not know how rich you are but I think gambling does not worth that amount of money, just play for fun and enjoy the best you can from gambling.

With the look fo things, I will advise you to quite gambling for awhile and then later begin, this will help a lot rather than having poor mindset towards gambling now, a kind of mindset that will want you to gamble more so you can lose more. People are more vulnerable to lose more and all when they have already lost some amount of money, please quite gambling for now is a very good advise.

Close your devices, stand up, get a walk, breathe in the fresh air and you should be fine. At least, I hope that's enough for you to actually forget about gambling and relax. I've been there, and it wasn't really easy to actually stop so instead I just let my balance empty out for the day and plan out what I should do the next day, where my mindset is pretty much refreshed and reset. Nowadays I've pretty much set my own plan when I'm gambling so I rarely fall into scenarios where I succumb to what I want, since I've limited myself before it even happens.

It's really hard to get addicted to anything because it do nothing good for oneself. Addiction is a serious topic and should be well taken care of the moment the symptoms occur. In mild cases, counseling and self-restraint would do, but for those who have severe cases, they have to seek professional help from the shrink to get themselves examined and treated the right way.

It's really important to establish limitations and boundaries whenever we do something. Like what they always say, too much can be harmful to you. You shouldn't let yourself be indulged too much in something most especially if you know for a fact that it could lead you to develop bad habits. You must know to practice self-discipline in order to avoid being caught up in a bad position.

Right now, what you can do is to accept it to yourself that you are addicted in gambling. Acceptance is always the first step into healing. You cannot treat something you keep on denying about. Next would be seeking help from the experts to guide you from your withdrawal journey of being addicted to gambling. From there, follow the advices that will be given to you and help yourself as well. Always remind yourself to only touch what you can afford to lose and not to touch other funds intended for important things.

Wooo, sorry 'bout your loss. There are several techniques that you may apply but, eventually, all leads to you being in control. You can set a fixed budget or a fixed time and stop when you loose it. You can set a limit of time and stop right the second you plan to... If you have trouble stopping, you may consider asking a friend for help, kind of watch over you and tell you that you need to stop, our you can bet socially.

I would seek professional help if I were you. You have the typical signs of a budding addiction. This is also evidenced by the fact that the more losses you make, the more you gamble to make up for the losses, losing more and more until you have no credit left or even immense debt.
Have your account blocked at Stakes and try not to bet in the sportbook area for the time being. I would take a break from it if I were you.

I've mentioned this several times but one of the best ways for me to stop gambling is to find another hobby or any daily activity that I could spend my time on. For example, reading books or working out at the gym, as much as possible you want to spend more time doing something else until you don't have enough time to think about betting. I used to be in the same position where i'd gamble on both sports and casino games then eventually stick with sports since casino games usually eat up most of my profits from sports betting.

Based on this case, it seems like you can exclude yourself from playing casino games but I guess there's an issue with the said exclusion that's why they've stopped offering it.

Well, you played the wrong game. Slot is the most addicting casino game, therefore if you aren't used to the dopamine sensation, playing slots is a bad idea.
First, forgive yourself, and take the loss. Don't play if the reason is to win back the $20k. Then, if it's better to quit gambling completely, or if you can't do that, play with small bankroll and smallest bet only. The problem with this is really controlling. I believe that the majority of games are extremely addictive, resulting in significant losses. Attempting to recoup your losses is also a bad idea, as I have personally experienced. Stopping is preferable to recouping your losses. No one force you to use $20k to gamble. I wonder why you use all of your profits from your portfolio to gamble as you already make a profit. You should use that profit for yourself and not use it for gambling.

Right now, I can stop myself from gambling anytime I want as I am always trying to control myself not involved too deeper in gambling. I already got a bad experience, so I do not want to repeat the same mistake. If you realize that gambling makes you lose money and want to quit gambling forever, you must try to control yourself and not visit online gambling or offline gambling. You are into trading I believe you also find it addicting like the say you experienced with slots just recently. Slots and dice are not base on skills casino game so its not really going to give us chances but you sound better in trading.

Sometimes, we're just carried away by our emotions because of too much excitement or even wanting to win but we should keep the risks of gambling in mind before entering it. I usually allocate enough funds for gambling and make sure to stop when I lost it. You have to control your emotions and don't let it be the one to control you.

Honestly breaking free from an addiction is not a walk in the park however I want you to be rest assured that you can because there are thousands of others who have quit this habit for good. Not bad, at least it gone 2 days on your end compare to this guy who lost 20k euros in one night but it's still that alarming. Yeah, hearing someone from acquaintances online wasn't a bad idea but you need more than that I guess to be able to cope with this problem, e.g. family members, friends, or your therapist. Only words from them can change it and your dedication to change the situation you're in.

Ways to bet on sportsbook? I thought you're asking ways to stop this addiction, yet you're still asking for ways? I don't think you'd ever get on with this addiction if you yourself has no self-respect on what you'd do the next. Although I would say it is not that effective if your "will" to gamble in your mind is still big.
The one and the best way for you to stop gambling is by controlling your own mind and will.

I've shared my experience in this thread Be a Responsible Gambler. Maybe going through that would get you on the right track. However what you lost can't be easily taken back, sorry for the loss. Also don't go behind chasing the losses. Try to make something out of trading. With the ongoing market variation you could earn atleast $100 regularly out of $20k. Anymore don't make wrong calculations, know your limit and spend.

That is really bad, but at least you have made the realization there is something wrong, in my opinion you need professional help, it is very common for people to think they can manage the problems they have but when you have lost so much money in such a short amount of time then it is time look for help as another relapse like that could be enough to wipe out your accounts and maybe getting you in debt, also if your family does not know what is happening be open to them about this as you are going to need their support to overcome this problem.

It seems that you are playing with enthusiasm and emotion, when you have lost several times you hope to win and be able to return the defeat that has occurred and it turns out that you cannot control yourself.

I've also experienced it but with a small capital, and but it will teach us how important it is to control ourselves when betting and stop when we often accept defeat because if we continue to play the losses will get bigger, you have to stop gambling for a moment to calm your mind and regret because Your loss is very large, even though it is your capital from the profit, there will still be a sense of regret.

Mate, addiction is sometime not only because the gambler often wins the bet but can also occur because the gambler does not want to stop and continues to want to recover his losses. This desire become the most difficult thing to get rid of and gamblers often look for other alternative to recover losses by continuing to bet on different things. Here is the finalize thoughts and last post that i will be made regarding on my betting addictions and about this post .

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

Good that you have learned something from this big loss and will stay away from gambling for a while. You are totally right by doing so. Take your time and have no hurry to start betting again, because a loss of 20,000$ must not be neglected. Don't try to beat the house at all costs. Set your own limits and if even by doing this you aren't able to win, just give up. There is no reason to be ashamed in giving up when the chances are against you. For me that $20k is a lot of money if you convert it here into our local currency but we all have different perspectives on the value of money I just thought that you made a lot of profit from trading in your portfolio for you not to get depressed from that $20k, I think you will be ok because you are thinking of stopping and finding ways how to stop, that's the first step.

Good decision pretty much, you lost way too much in a single session, judging from how hard I think it hit you, I assume the money is pretty big for your situation, so taking a break in general is really something that you'd really need. Slots is a fast-paced game, so the mindset must be different. In Sports bet/UFC you just can't (or won't) bet over 100 times per week because of limited match per week, but in slots, 100 spins is just a ten minutes play. So if your usual bankroll is $500, in slots, it's $0.5/spin for normal spin, or $50/bonus buy. The idea is to have some balance between winning chance and the prize. I mean, you can do $0.1/spin but it will be meaningless, conversely you can do $50/spin but most likely you'll get busted.

For me that $20k is a lot of money if you convert it here into our local currency but we all have different perspectives on the value of money I just thought that you made a lot of profit from trading in your portfolio for you not to get depressed from that $20k, I think you will be ok because you are thinking of stopping and finding ways how to stop, that's the first step.
Compulsive gamblers usually don't want to stop and will ignore all advice on how to stop, just practice meditation and you can stop when you want to stop and play within your means.

That amount is a big one lost no matter where it generates from and I am really sorry for that.What's lost is lost so we cannot do anything about it,however for the next time we can take some counter measures.The first thing to ask to yourself before jumping to play is what could I have done with the amount of money that I have lost?Well probably many things but I want to stay at just one,I would have built a mining rig or bought an ASIC with that money,that way I would keep generating small profit daily and by doing so removing somewhat the need for gambling.

He is a trader by word , maybe that amount he lost are the profit or even the capital from His investments and this is the reason why he felt so desperate and bad in the outcome of his gambling losses.

^ I have doubt that has a common strategy that will probably easily wipe out your entire balance is the martingale strategy, people that can afford a big amount will usually use this method and since this is a big risk, it could also be a big win if you are lucky enough on that day. That is right, $20k is quite big enough but I think if he bet in a maximum level amount it could be enough. Nevertheless, a possible reason why it become $20k is because of chasing lose instead of having self-control, the problem of most gamblers who want to take a risk but I think that is fine if losing $20k is the amount that you can afford.

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

The problem with gambling addiction stems from that 'false hope' where a gambler thinks that he can recover his losses by gambling again. I call this term as the 'gambler's cycle' where a person continues to gamble believing that he would be able to recover his losses by gambling.

Personally, I have seen my brother suffered from this addiction. Heck, he even has this urge to gamble away his monthly income despite telling me that he would "STOP" after winning one such round.

If you have become an addict and try to play other games or reduce gambling activities in my opinion that is not a good way, because as long as it is related to gambling, the possibility of addiction will still exist and will do the same thing and remember the losses that occur.

Be grateful that you realized so quickly that no one is safe from heavy losses in gambling. Apart from stopping everything before it's too late. You can learn from mistakes and everyone has experienced it.

I have been gambling for over 10 years and have no gambling addiction. The craving for them is as strong as the craving to watch the next new movie or buy a new smartphone. You can buy a new smartphone, or you can do without, because there is an old one. The main thing to understand is that people come to the casino to lose money and get emotions in return. If a person comes to the casino to win it means he already has a gambling addiction and he needs help from professionals or his family.

It's hard task finding your own will to control your gambling addiction, you nailed it, there's something inside us as gambler who keeps dictating that luck will be in our side just keep rolling and all those losses will be recovered, It's a tough job to ignore that voice behind, but if you manage to control and not to allow it to manipulate you, the chance is high that you will be more responsible for how you act inside the casino.

From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

It is really great that you've seen sense, it was the only way out to rebuild - just let your losses go. Do not hide from the pain but use it to remind yourself in future of how futile gambling is to you. Your money making skill is apparently trading, keep your focus on that and acquire money using those skills instead of trying to take shortcuts again in future . the thing you can do is get busy in something else , enjoy life with what you have and when you want to gamble, do it with very small amount so that even if you loose it does not affect you badly.

Even if you do actually have that in mind that you are playing with entertainment then its really impossible for you on not to make out some sort of reaction because we do value money and we dont like for it to lose thats why no matter how you divert those kind of things in mind but it cant really be avoided

Gambling needs control for the money that we will use to bet. If we can not control and have greediness, we will see the loss will come to us. If you blame yourself, you need to reflect on what you already did in gambling and be aware that playing gambling is just a fun thing and not trying to make money. But if you can win some money, you need to stop right away and not become more greedy because if you still playing, you can have a chance to lose your win money and even you can lose all of the money you have.

Gambling addiction is easy to achieve and become reality in someone's life but to quit is very difficult because it is difficult to quit is the reason it is called addiction and addicts are devoting their time to gambling which is draining money and time from them. I remember I was addicted for 5 years and some months without getting out of it until I lost so much.

The situation is generally sad.  $ 20K is definitely a big amount if you spend it in 2-3 days.  We can probably say that the OP was as if under hypnosis, "he was infected" by the game and he thoughtlessly made bets and actually did not have the opportunity to stop.  However, such conditions occur with almost any normal person with a normal psyche.  It's just that one in a hundred can be interrupted from such a state. A 99 in this state of excitement and excitement will play the same way until the money runs out.

If you have a lot of resources of money gambling is not a problem if you have limited only I guess it's better to set aside for a while your gambling habit or take a break or try to have a gambling plan with your habit. Try to take some time before getting more damage to your financial, physical and emotional aspects gambling is too bad when you get too exhausted. A self-challenge is a good idea just like I read in the other section of the forum where he managed to quit smoking and he uses every money for the cigarettes to buy bitcoins and he does that before the bull run this year. When I'm still betting, the largest loss that I got in only a day was around 20$ and at that time I'm already disappointed on myself and felt regret in the end because of how large I lost in gambling. After that I moved away from gambling sites, spend my time in playing online games until the time came that I'm no longer into gambling and I don't want to gamble again because I don't want to get addicted.

Losing $20,000 in just 2 days is already huge if you are just an average person but if you are a rich one, this amount is just a small percentage. Either way, losing this kind of amount is kinda depressing but its good to see that you are moving on with what happened to you. At least you learned a lesson here that just focus on trading and disregard gambling.

If that money came from hard work, you need serious professional help. Otherwise, easy come easy go. You shouldn't worry about it much. While it is still a bad situation, if you made the money by doing nothing, you should feel a little bit better because in some parts of the world people work their asses off to make $20k. Most people can't even make that much money in one year while some people in the West make it in a month.

Consider this a very expensive life lesson and move on.

Sorry to hear about your loss mate but when it comes to losses like any other business you have to investigate were the real issue(problem) is ....could be that you would have won but you were placing big bets which could not keep you betting for a long time & possibly winning and once this is established then can you make the hard decision. I have been in such a situation were the wrong bet size cost me to lose huge amounts because of greed not addiction. No one force you to use $20k to gamble. I wonder why you use all of your profits from your portfolio to gamble as you already make a profit. You should use that profit for yourself and not use it for gambling.

Right now, I can stop myself from gambling anytime I want as I am always trying to control myself not involved too deeper in gambling. I already got a bad experience, so I do not want to repeat the same mistake. If you realize that gambling makes you lose money and want to quit gambling forever, you must try to control yourself and not visit online gambling or offline gambling. No matter if that is hard for you, you must keep trying. That is the only thing you can do to stop gambling.

You displayed a good attitude towards gambling, I'm sure you got it from years of trading you are good at analyzing things and taking appropriate action, you will be successful in all your endeavor including gambling although with a lot of risks involved but with the right mindset and control, your winning percentage will be better.

You really have to control yourself not just in betting with certain games but I would suggest that you would allocate enough funds in gambling so you'll never lose a lot in the end. Self-control and discipline is still the key. You really have to be responsible for your actions and don't let your emotions rule over you.

this is a consequence that will arguably get regretted for quite some time.
but the OP here talks about the experience as well as being a warning to us because when he writes about this he reminds us not to make the same mistakes as the OP did.
This is where self -control must be maintained, what we do there must be self -control for that and when we lost self -control, especially in gambling then things like what happened to OP will also happen to us

Most cases on where people do only learn when they had already been wrecked badly by gambling or simply lost up big time on it because before that they wont really be minding about those risk.

Gambling addicts do mostly had failed to resolved out their addiction issue that's why some do really ask out some help on their loved ones or to professional ones and some do able to overcome addiction by themselves.

This is really a matter of self control and if you aren't really that good on handling out things specially yourself on gambling then this would really be a big problem.

It is nice to see some self-reflection and awareness in your posts, most of the time when something like this happens people blame the casino, their luck or anything else they think they can blame instead of accepting their responsibility of what they did and how they are the only ones that are guilty of the situation they are in.

That being said I still think it is a good idea to look for a professional on the field of addiction and see what you can learn from it, and while I do not think you are addicted to gambling you could face that danger in the future and it is better to be prepared and be able to recognize the signs before it is too late.
