Well bro i also lost huge money in gambling but it is nearly impossible to leave it when you get addicted to it as after loosing a lot i am still gambling.
the thing you can do is get busy in something else , enjoy life with what you have and when you want to gamble, do it with very small amount so that even if you loose it does not affect you badly.

gambling makes people happy and forget about themselves how to manage not to get addicted is difficult ,by dismissing the thought of gambling it is also difficult ,increasing activities outside to ignore the mind is also difficult ,nothing is easy unless supported by the closest person with a calm heart which will end the addiction ,I was also in a position of addiction but with a good environment gradually I become good

Totally . Decided to quit gambling for now ( after this weekend UFC ) as already placed my bet and once i started exclusion my money is stucked on stake. Will start my 1month/3month gambling exclusion once i withdraw my money from Stake.com.

Yes ,it was dumb to go that much in gambling and 'chasing' my lost and snowballing to huge amount. Learnt from my mistake and hope no one do the same mistake like I did.

And there are still people who will insist that they are only for entertainment/fun in gambling instead of having/getting profits, there's no fun of getting lost all the time actually.

Even if you do actually have that in mind that you are playing with entertainment then its really impossible for you on not to make out some sort of reaction because we do value money and we dont like for it to lose thats why no matter how you divert those kind of things in mind but it cant really be avoided
since we are just humans and these kind of reactions is totally normal.You should avoid on getting addicted on all cost because this would really be problem that you would really be facing on which isnt something easy for it to be resolved out.

There's no one you could blamed of but only yourself whenever you do commit out mistakes and consequences just because of the actions

Gambling needs control for the money that we will use to bet. If we can not control and have greediness, we will see the loss will come to us. If you blame yourself, you need to reflect on what you already did in gambling and be aware that playing gambling is just a fun thing and not trying to make money. But if you can win some money, you need to stop right away and not become more greedy because if you still playing, you can have a chance to lose your win money and even you can lose all of the money you have.

OP is not blaming any one specially you so don't pretend that you are involved in HIs losses but you are not.
and also don't say that he is asking you to do anything because he is not .

Gambling addiction is easy to achieve and become reality in someone's life but to quit is very difficult because it is difficult to quit is the reason it is called addiction and addicts are devoting their time to gambling which is draining money and time from them. I remember I was addicted for 5 years and some months without getting out of it until I lost so much.

The worst thing is for the closest person even not know his spouse, family or friend is addicted to gambling because it can just be a phone activity that can be hidden until things has been going wrong so bad to the extent that depression will set. But having a very good person that can help the situation will be good. Medical intervention can also result to positive changes.

The situation is generally sad.  $ 20K is definitely a big amount if you spend it in 2-3 days.  We can probably say that the OP was as if under hypnosis, "he was infected" by the game and he thoughtlessly made bets and actually did not have the opportunity to stop.  However, such conditions occur with almost any normal person with a normal psyche.  It's just that one in a hundred can be interrupted from such a state. A 99 in this state of excitement and excitement will play the same way until the money runs out.

If you have a lot of resources of money gambling is not a problem if you have limited only I guess it's better to set aside for a while your gambling habit or take a break or try to have a gambling plan with your habit. Try to take some time before getting more damage to your financial, physical and emotional aspects gambling is too bad when you get too exhausted. Ideal to do is to find another ways to enjoy your leisure time than spending tons of money.

A self-challenge is a good idea just like I read in the other section of the forum where he managed to quit smoking and he uses every money for the cigarettes to buy bitcoins and he does that before the bull run this year. I wonder how much did he get from that challenge? I mean, instead of surely losing his money and contributing negative effects to the earth's echo system, he used his money to invest in something that he will get sure benefit from it.

When I'm still betting, the largest loss that I got in only a day was around 20$ and at that time I'm already disappointed on myself and felt regret in the end because of how large I lost in gambling. After that I moved away from gambling sites, spend my time in playing online games until the time came that I'm no longer into gambling and I don't want to gamble again because I don't want to get addicted.

Losing $20,000 in just 2 days is already huge if you are just an average person but if you are a rich one, this amount is just a small percentage. Either way, losing this kind of amount is kinda depressing but its good to see that you are moving on with what happened to you. At least you learned a lesson here that just focus on trading and disregard gambling.

If that money came from hard work, you need serious professional help. Otherwise, easy come easy go. You shouldn't worry about it much. While it is still a bad situation, if you made the money by doing nothing, you should feel a little bit better because in some parts of the world people work their asses off to make $20k. Most people can't even make that much money in one year while some people in the West make it in a month.

Consider this a very expensive life lesson and move on.

Sorry to hear about your loss mate but when it comes to losses like any other business you have to investigate were the real issue(problem) is ....could be that you would have won but you were placing big bets which could not keep you betting for a long time & possibly winning and once this is established then can you make the hard decision. I have been in such a situation were the wrong bet size cost me to lose huge amounts because of greed not addiction. But if addiction is the main problem then give gambling a break all together, shifting from casino betting to sportsbetting won't fix the problem!

No one force you to use $20k to gamble. I wonder why you use all of your profits from your portfolio to gamble as you already make a profit. You should use that profit for yourself and not use it for gambling.

Right now, I can stop myself from gambling anytime I want as I am always trying to control myself not involved too deeper in gambling. I already got a bad experience, so I do not want to repeat the same mistake. If you realize that gambling makes you lose money and want to quit gambling forever, you must try to control yourself and not visit online gambling or offline gambling. No matter if that is hard for you, you must keep trying. That is the only thing you can do to stop gambling.

Lucky you if you could control your urge to play gambling, but that doesn't give you any rights to blame him because of what he did. What seems to be his problem is out of his control, that's what he is trying to point out and he needs help. Rehabilitation is one of the best treatment anyone could have if they have any kind of addiction, that's more effective and fastest way to heal yourself from any addiction.

And about sportsbetting , want to clarify that personally i love MMA . from the start to the end , even before i start trading i do started to watch MMA/boxing etc. and the 'sports' i bet is on MMA with 'extra' cash. this weekend will be my last sportsbetting for awhile until 3 month (decided to go for 3 month) and fully focusing on my trading and my RL works ( to help forget about gambling ) . Will constantly update on this thread about what going on and did i success on 'exclude' myself from betting.


My aim right now : Stop gambling on (slots,online casino thingy) . Sportsbet ( i will continue even after my 3 month exclusion , checked with my previous record,  not even 6-1 years of betting in sportsbet lose more than 20k in 2 days. )

You displayed a good attitude towards gambling, I'm sure you got it from years of trading you are good at analyzing things and taking appropriate action, you will be successful in all your endeavor including gambling although with a lot of risks involved but with the right mindset and control, your winning percentage will be better.
