The benefits of smoke detectors very clearly outweighs the costs of smoke detectors in every household, by a very large margin. Further, smoke detectors are not intrusive. Unless there is a fire (or the battery is running low), most people will not even notice the presence of a smoke detector.

In the good ole days of Trump these fake Americiums would have been stopped at the border, but nowadays Biden lets them through, just like he let through Bill Gates and the Wuhan Clan (or so-called Covid), which is a fake Chinese knock-off Wu-Tang Clan. If you recall, proper Wu-Tang warned us of the dangers of taking the Covid vaccine in their famous song 'Protect Ya Neck' (I'll be stickin' pins in your head like a f- nurse), but Wuhan Clan of Bill Gates says we have to take the vaccine. But I don't know how we got onto Covid and vaccines, this is supposed to be about smoke detectors.

It's an unrelated subject, but I saw one of those pro-vaccination clowns posting some so-called "data" on another P&S thread yesterday. Can't remember exactly who or where. But they made some stupid argument that actually undermined their own point.

100 infections: 80 of these people are vaccinated, 20 are not.

Stupid, right? To convert it into smoke detector language, it would be:

100 fires: 80 of these homes had smoke detectors, 20 did not.

So the obvious conclusion is that these so-called data people have it all wrong.
Having a smoke detector means you are 4x more likely to contract a fire, with severe symptoms, or maybe even an asymptomatic fire like one that starts in a waste paper basket but then gets put out accidentally before anyone notices when someone drops an open can of coke in it ppppfffssstt.

Anyway, smoke detectors, right? Those things are clearly unsafe.

Everyone knows that fires always end so what's the big deal. Just wait it out. Smoke detectors seem like some sort of millennial contraption for people who think they must know immediately if a fire starts even in the middle of the night, and wake the whole neighborhood.

Most likely, big pharma stands to make more money if smoke detectors were not used. Smoke detectors most often result in people leaving their house unscathed, not requiring any medical treatment.

I have recently discovered that many fire departments and local governments are spending your tax dollars to give out free smoke detectors to people who can't afford them, as well as putting smoke detectors in schools and other public buildings. This is pure socialism! Say NO!

Better yet, we have the right to start calling for the criminal prosecution or even the death sentence for smoke detector manufacturers! USA! USA!

I never believed in it. I think this is complete nonsense, I am always getting issues with smoke alarms, but I think if I will buy a good one and not the first one on the shed, well I will have much fewer headaches. In the end, this is the safety but I've heard the smoke alarm only when I was cooking - well I am really bad at cooking
