That's an important website, thanks for the link. But I do have a problem with it... Bananas are radioactive death sticks, and that site doesn't mention it at all. They are covering for Big Fruit and are probably funded by them.

IMO, the best way of getting people to use smoke detectors is to explain the benefits of using smoke detectors. Simply providing the data as to why smoke detectors are going to prevent fire-related deaths is going to get almost everyone to want to use a smoke detector.

Similarly with vaccines, giving the data as to why getting the vaccine will benefit them is going to get most people to want to get vaccinated. If you try to force people into doing something, many people are going to reflexively try to resist.

I got my first scintillator when the Japanese melted down four reactors (and blew at least one spent fuel pool containing MOX fuel sky high), and the U.S.'s response was to have a new safe dose 10,000 times higher than the old and shut down the Pacific radiation monitors.  Obviously I couldn't trust the goobmint to give a straight story, and I didn't trust the crazed 'tin-foil-hat' idjuts either.  What's a guy...who has a fairly high salary...to do?  Well, I got the gear I needed to find out for myself.

I was in Si Valley at the time.  As a matter of fact there actually was no significant problem that bothered me enough to do anything about, even on the Left Coast.  It turned into a side hobby and I obtained various other scintillators and various kinds of samples just to fool around with and gain some hands-on experience.  Purely scientific interest with a tinge of expectation that if there ever were an incident which posed a threat, I would be more prepared to analyze it for myself since there were ZERO other entities who I could trust to do the work.  At least not in short order.

The funny thing is that I had some relatively hot stuff which would send the scaler into an impressive state of hyperactivity.  Since I knew something about the actual dangers, it didn't bother me in the slightest.  Normies, however, would wet themselves and run screaming from my lab (aka, my living room table.)  The same normies who would run to the vaccination center for their experimental gene therapy jab.  Why?  Well, they are called normies for a reason.

My advice is to be very careful about discussing your disdain for smoke detectors.  There is a great deal of people out there that don't even want to let you participate in society without a smoke detector installed in your home.  Talking about not having one could result in the loss of your job, friends, not to mention you won't be allowed into restaurants or to participate in any public events.  Even your children will have to come to school with pictures of their smoke detectors installed in their home or else they will be refused a public education.  In fact, smoke detectors are so important, I think we should double the money supply and cause a massive wave of inflation that will no doubt forever hurt the quality of life in this country just to make sure that everyone has a smoke detector made by a couple of companies the government selects.  Even if there is debate whether or not the smoke detectors actually work.

Everyone knows that fires always end so what's the big deal. Just wait it out. Smoke detectors seem like some sort of millennial contraption for people who think they must know immediately if a fire starts even in the middle of the night, and wake the whole neighborhood.

No they don't. I am not aware of any evidence to support this (including the revised claim that smoke detectors emit radiation).

Obviously that's what Big Phire and the lame stream media want you to think. People who do their own research know otherwise.

Most likely, big pharma stands to make more money if smoke detectors were not used. Smoke detectors most often result in people leaving their house unscathed, not requiring any medical treatment.

I have recently discovered that many fire departments and local governments are spending your tax dollars to give out free smoke detectors to people who can't afford them, as well as putting smoke detectors in schools and other public buildings. This is pure socialism! Say NO!

The benefits of smoke detectors very clearly outweighs the costs of smoke detectors in every household, by a very large margin. Further, smoke detectors are not intrusive. Unless there is a fire (or the battery is running low), most people will not even notice the presence of a smoke detector.

I don't think there are any unserious people that are actually against smoke detectors, let alone serious people.

I never believed in it. I think this is complete nonsense, I am always getting issues with smoke alarms, but I think if I will buy a good one and not the first one on the shed, well I will have much fewer headaches. In the end, this is the safety but I've heard the smoke alarm only when I was cooking - well I am really bad at cooking
