I'm excited, exhibition fights getting to a higher level and as an NBA fan, I would never forget Deron Williams as one of the best players in the NBA during his era, his time with the Utah Jazz was so meaningful.

This undercard fight will be another major attraction of the fight, they really know how to do the right marketing.

Deron Williams used to be my favorite player in the NBA. During his 2011-2012 (if I am not mistaken) season on the nets, he averaged like 20 points per game with 8 assists and highlights flying everywhere. It was so unfortunate to see him retire with the injuries.

I agree, sometimes you really have to think about why this players are jumping on the bandwagon of celebrity boxing matches and then gets knock out? Doesn't make any sense at all. Specially for Deron, who has a good solid career as a NBA player, but totally ruin his reputation by accepting this kind of exhibition match just for the money. I loved watching Deron Wiliams. I remember when they got into the league Chris Paul and Deron Williams actually got in around the same time I believe, and people were talking about how they would be rivals and were around the same level as well and people were talking which one will be better. Deron is already out of the league for a while now and he is now trying to get into an exhibition match basically while Chris Paul was in finals last season.

So all in all this definitely seals the deal, I mean it was already decided long time ago, no idea if this changes anything but it is definitely a nail in the coffin. He was always a powerful person, but he is fighting against an NFL guy so I am sure that guy is at least as powerful or maybe more (never watched him). Wrestling is a combat sports but you do not get punches, if you are getting punched for the first time you will sleep and Jake Paul is a decent boxer who could do that to anyone who is literally new to the sport. There's already an announcement of who he will face organizers have learned from the Robinson fight, it's good that Deron is fighting a fighter that is equal to his experience, but I doubt if this is going to be a good fight but this is the kind of fight that generates money, organizers just have to make sure to explain to both fighters that this is an exhibition and they are well trained and well-conditioned, boxing gis very much different to Football and Basketball.

Good point, there's a daily routine to maintain his physical body, but he needed to add more workouts since boxing is far different
from basketball and the trainings to increase your stamina needs some extras, though it's just an exhibition. But I'm sure both fighters will extend some effort to make sure that they will give the fans some entertainment.

Who knows if fans see the competitiveness between Williams and whoever the fighter he will face, another set of exhibition

Training for basketball and training for boxing are very very different two things. Plus even if you "train" boxing while being a basketball player, that is mostly for conditioning, since boxing is a very very tiresome sport and after just few rounds most people have huge fatigue that they can't handle, it is clear that most of the time people end up with tired arms and can't continue and it is a great conditioning training. So not like they are training to be great boxers, they are training to get their arms trained with boxing so that while shooting in a game, they won't be as tired.

Now using that training boxing won't be enough, they would need to get a lot better and a lot quicker. They won't do that, they will train a bit but not really take it seriously, just for a few weeks and that’s it, then they are back to their lives. This is simply exhibition for making some cash and nothing else.

I think there should be a clear guideline as to who is allowed to fight in a serious boxing match. Boxing is not an easy sport anybody could just enter. This is actually the event that I fear the most where real boxing might become slowly obsolete with these kinds of matches and exhibition fights.

The problem with most exhibition fights stem from the boxers, the viewers, and the entertainment they offer. Surely, it gives so much entertainment when we watch some old boxers fight famous people but this somehow defeats the spirit of boxing. But from a business perspective, these types of matches are very much sought after due to the revenue it offers to the players.

There's nothing wrong to try to fight against somebody in a gym or a training facility. If Deron William's only goal is to experience his interest, he could have offered a sparring match to somebody close to his weight and skills. Since there are lots of individuals, who are not into boxing that enter boxing, and some made money and were successful about doing it, it will create more fights of that kind in the future. We, as a viewer, have an option to watch it or not.

If we are annoyed by that, better ignore them and not support them all the way. No choice after all as there are people who are fans of watching those and willing to pay tickets and PPV to support the said match.

Most industries are just a reflection of what the population wants, there is a demand for these kind of fights which comes from a sector of the fans and the industry is doing nothing else but to supply what people want and earn money in the process, just like what happens in any other industry.

However this is not something that worries me, this happens from time to time, once people see the fights are terrible then the demand will go down and these fights will disappear for some time, allowing us to enjoy the fights we have always enjoyed.

As someone from Illinois, I have to say that I am pretty excited for this fight! For those who may not know, Deron was a star guard for the University of Illinois. He led them to a championship game (which they unfortunately lost) and had a very good NBA career. Correct and there's nothing at stake like professional record on this and this dudes just to want to fight for pay check also for fame that's why we cannot expect any huge box fight on this event, but although this fight is good to see knowing these two guys are popular and to see which one of them will sleep in the ring.
