I see many users in this forum trading loaded and redeemed casacius coins. Can someone who has recently redeemed a coin share information about how to do it? Is Armory the only client that can take codes found on the coin and locate and load the associated BTC from the blockchain into my wallet? Thank you for advice.

I use Ballet’s ‘Sweep’ function. If you don’t have one already, they are very inexpensive.

Coinomi Wallet app also works, but I trust Ballet more due to the hardware wallet association. I’ve used both with success.

The core wallet should work just as well

- edit - really any wallet capable of importing a private key would work - just make sure you use a non-custodial service.

At this stage of the game in 2021, with price of BTC at 60k, whats the argument for peeling a casacius? Unless you need the money today what other reason would there be?

Agree with Blue here. As the price of BTC hit north of 50k, there aren’t a lot of regular Joe’s out there able to afford to purchase a Cas. The last few listed for sale have stale responses while you can’t even find denoms of .01 or lower any longer. To each his own!

If you have a funded 25btc or even a funded 100 btc bar you won't get much of a premium.  If you want access to 100 btc it can be as easy as redeeming the bar.  Is getting 1-5% over spot worth the possible risk?  That's the risk people weigh and some feel it's not worth the Hassle.

The value of Casascius Coins has gotten to the point where I wouldn't even want to carry them out of a bank.  I've been wanting to sell a 0.5 Casascius coin for a while now but it feels crazy to even have that amount in your possession on a physical coin.  So crazy when you think that the original ones were given away by the thousands.  I wonder how many of those bad boys are buried under some dirt at various festival locations around the country...  Back to your comment, HOW would you sell a funded Casascius coin?

I get it. If your trying to sell a 100 BTC coin for 6 million there's a lot of risk for getting taken. It is hard to find buyers right now. But, they are out there. Tons of people who are willing to buy these at a premium. The problem is there's no organized safe place to sell them. But as time goes on that will change. I suspect as time goes on these will be selling at double, maybe triple funded value. Just have to patient if you can, and wait for the market to evolve. Every time someone peels their Casacius they just increase the rarity and price of everyone else's coin. I dont own any Casacius, I missed the bus. I would be tempted to peel as well if I had 6 million sitting on a coin. Be patient if you can, never peel, the flood gates of fortune are coming.

I can see the vision. A world where people are beating down your door to buy your Casacius. Multiple bidders driving the price through the roof. Its coming. Just have to be patient. Physical bitcoins will be the most highly sought after collectables on the planet.

I appreciate all the comments. It's a lot to think about. I am leaning towards auctioning it funded. But that isn't simple. I assume I need an escrow and then after receiving agreed payment, escrow transfers the safe deposit box into the buyer's name. Then the buyer is responsible for delivery. If not local, then what? Anyone here done a transaction worth >1 BTC in the last few months?

If you plan on selling here...read...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277761.0

If your planning to sweep...read https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5303860.msg55941150#msg55941150

I don't like using any hot wallet to sweep anything above $1000 in btc...so once you get your BTC off safely and it's confirmed at your receiving end ..then use other s such as coinomi or ballet for the shit coins

There are couriers that can do this for you.
