they will always do whatever it takes to stop bitcoin, and they will not stop until their efforts succeed, they are always finding fault with bitcoin mining, I accept they stopped bitcoin to provide electricity, and create a clean environment for its citizens, but the question is why the government doesn't act fairly, because the miners of gold, coal, oil etc. why not stop, even their companies are supported by the government, such as in my country PT Lapindo which has released a lot of waste, thus destroying people's houses, but the government is silent and does not do nothing
We all knew already why they can't blame the large factories and minings of all sorts just like you stated. Those said companies are still standing tall until now because of the fact that they're sanctioned by the government itself. When it comes to that issue, they became deaf and blind.
But when it comes about bitcoin, they're so loud always try and try to take bitcoin down and finding some holes. Why? Because the government itself won't benefit from every transactions, even becoming a middle man of crypto is still impossible.
It's because some of those government officials especially in the higher class are also investors in those said companies and we can't deny that there's some "under-the-table" exchanges in order to renew their business license and continue to operate even if it already defy some laws. This issue are in-fact real even in our country.

Bitcoin on the other hand is new to them ears and it's not beneficial to them, that's why they're finding some potholes or issue within to destroy and take down bitcoin, they also can't sue someone because there's no one who practically owns bitcoin.

in other words they look for loopholes to gain profit by attacking the other side of bitcoin and after getting it will close their eyes and ears so they can relieve their thirst but unfortunately bitcoin is not a factory and company that can be controlled

Government needs to throw away this greed of them and allow bitcoin to function open. They already know the benefit of bitcoin. I wonder why they be against what is important and beneficial to the society,  I'm sure some of them are into crypto secretly.

It is possible that the states of the European Union may, at the request of the Swedish regulatory authorities, decide to ban the mining of those cryptocurrencies that use an energy-consuming proof-of-work algorithm. In any case, the states at the last summit of the G20 countries pledged to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to the rapid global climate change on our planet. Considering that states in general do not support cryptocurrency, they will not lose anything because of such a decision.

PoW was due to energy waste. Also China’s reason for banning Bitcoin has nothing to do with protecting the environment from harm. They should actually focus on the proper supply of energy.

... or the topic could be:
The topic of this thread should be : "they wish they could stop Bitcoin"
Much better, I tend to agree with you.

Let them do anything in their power because those who trust bitcoin and support it are more powerful than them because their capacity is limited while we as users is unlimited.
all the people in the world will act one in the future to support this market fully while they are still having problems in stopping bitcoin to progress.
i will continue the support and the using until adoption worldwide will come.

In the final draft of the MICA framework, the much anticipated cryptocurrency regulation also includes a provision forbidding the environmentally unsustainable consensus mechanism.

Maybe not for now, but the development of the era will bring Bitcoin can be adopted by all countries, considering that currently Fiat is still relevant to the current conditions, according to the government. With its decentralization, the government is afraid of losing its control if legalizing Bitcoin. No matter how strong it prevents Bitcoin, but in fact until now the development of Bitcoin is actually unexpected as we saw in 2021 yesterday

I like the view on Glasschain for this purpose. https://glasschain.org/Bitcoin-Footprint

check out the energy consumption. but then again, its only bad because of the amount of transactions it actually processes.

who will pay for it when block rewards get smaller than fees. the output spenders

Adoption is on the move and its recognition thats why it couldnt be stopped nor inevitable but we know that fiat would still remain no matter what and bitcoin or crypto would remain as an
alternative. There's no way that it could replaced out those traditional things that we've been using through ages. Stopping is there but they couldnt done it technically thats why they do
put out their efforts on regulating everything which is attached to it via those platforms and services.

It is not about energy consumption but the revenue. Government want to tax. Since they cannot able to control it, they rather choose to ban bitcoin. Even if several countries like (China, EU etc.) will merge, it is practically impossible to stop, because bitcoin is now too big. It gets harder and harder for anyone to control or stop it.

Let the government do what they want, but it would not stop people from using bitcoin..

As long as there is a demand for something, people will find a way to supply that demand, be it legally or illegally. Bitcoin are going to be a lot harder to stop, they cant unless their going to shutdown the internet. It is decentralized, meaning it belongs to everyone and no one.
If by turning off the internet, of course not only bitcoin will stop, but all transactions will stop. Bitcoin is getting stronger and becoming a digital asset that cannot be stopped easily. We are part of a group that supports bitcoin and we all make big bitcoins. the pros and cons of bitcoin will continue to exist. But no one will be able to stop bitcoin, bitcoin is not regulated by anyone even if it's the government. They can only issue regulations or rules for the use of bitcoin.

Turning off the network is not possible and if it is possible it will not only affect bitcoin. Turning off the network cam also affect the banking system and the transactions of fìat .  If they have the power to stop bitcoin they would have done it since even before now, at this point where bitcoin has gotten to nothing can be done to stop it.

That's rude. How they plan on compensating the miners who have created huge mining farms across the globe? Does EU considers how much they might have invested in setting up those farms! The cost is huge and if they suddenly bans such activity what and where would they do and go??

Come on EU, you can plot better plans for the future man.

Edit.

Moreover, if there is any other way to do proof of work then please enlighten us with the same and they would be happy to do so.

Edit:
Changed the topic
''Why are they against PoW?''
to
''They will try to stop Bitcoin''

They are against PoW because the energy resources of a given country is limited.
PoW mining energy needs grow at geometric increases, multiple of times greater than these countries ability to increase their power production.
Therefore they have to ban PoW mining to protect their power grids from collapse.
They really have no choice , for if their power grid collapses they will be in the stone age for 3 years or longer.
The death toll from no electricity would be insane.

They don't care about bitcoin, it is the PoW mining alone that is the issue.
Ethereum is bypassing the issue by converting to PoS.

Bitcoin does not have to convert to PoS, but they are going to have to do something to quit putting the power grids at risk of failure.
Otherwise their will be a worldwide PoW mining ban, odds are before 2030.

They just can't point fingers on other industries that harnesses similar or even greater energy and produces similar or greater wastes because it will hurt their relationship with such industries. Bitcoin and crypto mining relying on PoW are easy targets, mainly because not a lot of countries and businesses are into it just yet. I understand the sentiments of those who signed on the Paris agreement that are trying so hard to reach their pledges, but they should also look into other industries that uses large amounts of energy and produces just as much waste in the end.

Then again, the fingers are already pointed, and sure enough bitcoin and crypto will take direct hit and be persecuted harshly and might even be blamed as the number one contributor in rising temperatures.

Pointing fingers at other waste-producing and environment-harming industries is just whataboutism. That doesn't mean crypto should be off the hook or is right. Those issues need to be tackled head-on and that's the only way crypto can move forward in its adoption and recognition in the modern global economy. So crypto (in general) should not be pointing fingers at other industries, but rather cleaning up its own issues without the concern if someone is doing it on their side. And steps have been made, it's a different story from when it started.

Maybe it's just gossip? Usually such news is amplified when the market is down or at the bottom. Manipulators take advantage of this in an attempt to buy cheap coins. Then it will turn out that bitcoin is not that bad for the environment and the asset will rise again. It should be noted that bitcoin was around its peak in November. That's when it started to fall.
