It is normal if the name of Canelo surfaces every time the name GGG is talked about. That is expected because they have an unfinished business. They both are involved in a fierce rivalry. Not to mention that the results of their two fights were all controversial. When they had their first fight, both of them claimed victory despite the split decision draw that was made official. The second fight, Canelo won but still very controversial because many believed GGG won. That's why there is a strong demand for a trilogy to seal the controversy once and for all.

But of course they will have to finish their other business first like this Murata fight for GGG.

I am not aware that GGG and Canelo has this kind of rivalry issue during their last fight. I mean, I do agree that if they have this kind of issue then maybe a rematch will be a great solution for those fans who are not satisfied with the decision or result of their fight. However, this TIME i guess GGG should priority this scheduled fight of him vs. Murata it's because this fight is also one of the anticipated fight and I bet would be a challenging fight for him too.

I don't know, but it seems that Canelo has close the door already, he will be going up in weight as CW and that is too much for GGG right now who campaigns at 160 lbs. So I already forget about that idea of another fight between the two.

And as you have said, GGG is already 40 and we don't know how many fight is left in him. Maybe against Murata this year and another one perhaps before the end of the year.

Yes, Alvarez already went up and the chance of GGG to move is too slim. This fight is no longer possible for now.

Maybe we will see them in the future when exhibition calls them and for the sake of a good amount of money, but with professional fight

it's too far now, GGG may have some more fights after beating Murata but if in case that the outcome didn't favor him, that might be

the final stage of his career.

But there's also a possibility that he will go down, Canelo is just trying the heavier weight class, if he will fail then probably he will go back to the weight where he dominates and that means the possibility is still there. Therefore, if you guys want to see GGG vs Canelo trilogy, you should wish Canelo will lose on his upcoming fight.

The virus is spreading everywhere, changing the venue wouldn't help because they are also looking for a venue that will attract a lot of people, and IMO Japan is the best venue as the Japanese will definitely support their own even though they know that GGG is the better fighter. As the omicron virus continues to disrupt the world, let's hope the cases will be minimize so this fight will eventually purpose, hopefully in the 1st quarter of the year.
With the Japanese government's firmness on this I feel this is a pretty good measure to prevent the spread from spreading, but on the other hand we also have to be willing to wait for delays like this fight.
actually I was really looking forward to this but indeed we won't be able to do much because instead of taking risks with a virus like this maybe it's better to just follow the advice from the government

Seems that this first quarter of the year is not looking good because of the omicron variant.
We may see this fight in the second or third quarter of this year.
But while waiting, GGG and Murata can prepare for their upcoming fight.
GGG is already in his 40s, so let's see if he can still wait this long and still have the power inside the ring.
It may be GGG's last hurrah inside the boxing arena. So yes, this is quite interesting to watch.
I hope it's like that but there's still no guarantee as long as this variant and this virus is still around, I even think it will be more than the second or third quarter if the virus doesn't disappear.
and yes, he's not that young anymore and it could be like you said that maybe this will be the last time he will fight considering that GGG's age is not a good age for a professional boxer even though there are one or two people who violate the age requirement and can still fight

Hahaha, I don't know if Canelo will still give that trilogy with GGG if he does and if there's really interest from promoters and big handlers
maybe they already offer him that fight but instead he went up and challenge himself with this new weight division, but if in anyhow he loses that fight, we will see if there's another talk about these possibilities of the trilogy.

We never know also if GGG will dominates Murata, there's also chance of getting upset.

Another talk about this once they both fights are already done..

Possible if GGG would have those consecutive winning fights then who knows right?

That's the only way. But on how much consecutive win, that's the question. GGG should not even look up to that fight to happen but instead, regardless of who's the opponent just focus on it. Murata is a champion and he needs to snatch that title for a much bulky titleholder that might get Canelo's interest again.

But to me personally, I don't like now the trilogy. GGG vs Murata should not be accompanied by talks involving Canelo.

Well, everytime we are talking of GGG, there's always a name Canelo attach to the conversation as we all want to see a trilogy between the two. They are the best in their division and it was only GGG whom Canelo did not dominate in a fight, so for the last time before GGG will retire, we want to see a Trilogy.
Thats a fan perspective but overall they are the ones who do make out decisions whether there's a trilogy or completely cut off that rivalry because there would be no point on proving out something
which had already been given a total period.
I agree on that point that whenever we do talk about GGG then there would be having those kind of talks or attachments in Canelo which i would say an unavoidable kind of mentioning these names.
GGG would snatch out that title for sure and i dont have doubts on that.

I agree, it's just like Manny and Floyd, seems to be their names are attached to each other until Manny retires. As for Canelo, he didn't give GGG a chance for a trilogy so we really don't know what will be the score. But as we can see Fury vs Wilder has it's trilogy and so many others in the history.

But it seems that GGG has remain in the 160 lbs and reclaim his belt and will likely to continue with his career until he retires without getting that Canelo trilogy.
The organization would be always have the final say or decision whether a Trilogy would happen or not and next would be those boxers itself but it seems that Canelo isnt really that interested for this one.
For now the thing GGG must do is to win up those possible fights ahead until he retires on at least he do have a good record as he hang up his gloves even though he wont get a trilogy chance with
Canelo which lets just accept that fact but hey, who knows on what would happen next?

No, the organization will just support in case both boxers will agree with the fight we are talking. However, GGG has to beat Murata first so the hype will continue and Canelo would eventually accept this trilogy so he can tell the fans that they should not doubt him, for sure no more fight if he still wins.

If they'll hear the fans and they want to make money, then for sure they'll fight, or  Canelo will give GGG a chance to fight with him before he will officially retire. GGG is going 40 years old this year, which is near retirement age. Hope that would happen this year, otherwise, we should not expect anymore.

How loud should the boxing fans be so that they will both hear them? I guess it is clear enough that the demand of the fans is for them to face once more and seal the score between them. I think even GGG himself is chasing Canelo but Canelo is now avoiding a third fight. I think he is now pursuing other fighters and not anymore interested to face GGG for the third time. If it won't happen soon, that fight prospect should better be shelved. It is unfair if Canelo would only face a much older GGG.

If against Murata, I don't think this will be a hard fight for him, at least a more quality fighter, but this one, I'm sure he can win it with ease. Though it seems like it's not gonna happen again but I hope his last Hurrary will be against Canelo, for sure fans would be happy to see that.

Murata is a tough boxer but if against GGG, he's really facing a whole new level and I really believe that GGG won't be having a hard time to defeat this Japanese boxer which they say that he's more famous in Japan than Inoue and that he's viewed as a hero in their country.
I'm also expecting that GGG can have the last dance against Canelo before he decides to hang-up his gloves and that would definitely make the fans happy as they're also looking forward to see their trilogy.

Canelo is exploring for another class of fighters, the very reason why he changes division.

He wanted to look for other opportunities. If he wins his upcoming fight, we might not hear any possibilities that he will comeback

and reign again with his former division. He will pursue and proceed with his new venture. It's more on how both promoters will

take the call, but even fans are loudly expressing their interest. It won't happen unless both camps agree.

GGG is a different level of Champion and I doubt Murata could beat him. I think GGG will teach him a lesson and hopefully, he will learn from his experience. Since this is rescheduled and we might not see it soon, I guess we just have to hope they'll still continue to train so they'll be ready once this pandemic problem will settle down.

I'm also expecting that GGG can have the last dance against Canelo before he decides to hang-up his gloves and that would definitely make the fans happy as they're also looking forward to see their trilogy.
Just hope but don't expect a lot as I don't think Canelo will ever go down in weight if he succeeds in the new division.

That's a nice idea and move you got there, Murata needs to take action in the middle or late rounds when GGG's tanks ain't that full anymore and tests GGG's capabilities in the early rounds. I think that's the best choice Murata got because if he try to follows GGG's hype in the early rounds then that might be the end of Murata as we know that GGG is good at close fight and definitely had more experience than the Japanese boxer.
That being said, I do think that GGG have still the upper hand in this upcoming match even if he's much older than Murata. Also, Murata's skills/capabilities will be tested on this fight as it's going to be a really big break for him if he eventually defeat the crowd favorite and champion GGG.

It is not that I am or have a partiality towards GGG, but I think that Murata in this case has all the opportunities to be the best before the best, for me GGG will return with everything and does not want to lose at all, if Murata who has had more opportunity in terms of more fights, he has gained more experience and will face one of those that I consider the best, he has to show that his training and experience has to be superior to that of GGG, also if he wins the doors that will open For Murata they are impressive, I think that this boxer if he wins he would be reaching a peak without a doubt.

I myself admit that I am also losing interest in that third match already. The two are fast becoming a mismatch. Canelo is still very much in his prime. He is at the top of his boxing career. He is powerfully reigning right now. On the other hand, GGG is pretty inactive. He is also probably approaching his final years in boxing already. At 40 years old, a boxer may still remain strong but never in the most perfect of shape anymore. This fight better be forgotten.

Canelo has said multiple times in public that he is no longer interested with a 3rd fight with GGG. But it's a pity for us boxing fans, because we have seen a lot of trilogy in recent years being settled, like the Wilder vs Fury fight, and yet Canelo doesn't want to give that to GGG.

Maybe when he retires, his critics are going to push for this narrative that he avoided a 3rd fight with GGG so only time can judge how good Canelo or if there will be some question mark on his legendary career.

Oh well, I think we did our part to call for Canelo to have another fight with GGG. But it seems him and his team fall on deaf ears already, so we are now giving up.

GGG is now going to face another tough champion in Murata and let's hope that the fight can happen in 2022. GGG is not getting young and could just have a couple of fights in him. So he needs this fight very badly and seal his legacy without Canelo's name.

He will and let's hope that he will win because after that fight people will be calling the Canelo vs GGG Trilogy again.
At these betting odds below, GGG is a huge favorite so he will likely win this fight.

Same here. I also don't want to see a trilogy fight against GGG since it's not that significant anymore. GGG is out to its prime where Canelo is still on. It's more good to follow Canelo's mission to beat those boxers on Cruiserweight and see if his goal in getting the title at different weight classes will be a success.

But as far as boxing analysts are mostly concerned, no way Canelo will surpass what Pacquiao did in terms of a pound-for-pound fighter. But Canelo is not there to surpass that. They have a different environment that they worked in.

But Canelo's avoidance of a third fight with GGG will always be an interesting note in his otherwise outstanding career. Just as we do today, history will probably also question the real reason why he didn't allow a great third match with GGG to happen. All kinds of speculation would be put forward. But it will only raise more curiosity. It will never answer the boxing fans' deep question.

But both men will have to shape their legacy separately having missed something. I hope GGG will still gain more achievements in his final years in boxing. Murata is just one stepping stone.

^^ Perhaps that is GGG's target now, I mean he could have chase Canelo and move to 168 lbs as well but he decided to stay at the weight wherein he has a greater chance to solidify his legacy to be one of the best in the 160 lbs. So even if the trilogy didn't happen, and it's not because of him, history will be on his favor and Canelo not giving him a third fight will be the only hole, besides the Mayweather lost in his career.

I disagree with that. Avoidance like Canelo was defeated lol. Canelo already sealed that fight. The public won't take that as an issue since Canelo is working on his way now to beat the top fighters on the next stage. GGG is already not on that top fighters list so why still insist that a trilogy is needed?

It's even good to see Canelo facing Charlo compared to GGG. There are others fighters too that Canelo needs to settle in. Those fights are much exciting and thrilling compare to the trilogy with an old GGG.
