Thanks guys for sharing these deals. After all, decided to go with Windscribe. Tried it for few days and it's ok. Only disadvantage that on several locations speed is very low, what makes it barely possible to use.

I know I promised you months ago that I would review NYM but I forgot it. But today I did a quick review. This VPN looks interesting but surprisingly, there is not much information available about it, despite the fact that this VPN seems quite different from others with its technology.

NYM uses a Mixnet technology, which seems similar to Tor. It makes data packets to appear identical in size and form and obscures real traffic pattern.

I'll be frank, there is a lot information about NYM vpn and it will take me a lot of time to carefully read each line and then do research. I'll be glad if anyone with experience can share what makes NYM different from other VPNs and how truly they back their words (whether what they say is playing with nice words or actually makes sense). A good thing about NYM is that it's open-source.

Windscribe just announced a new method of signing up. Now you can create an account and log in via your hash. You click on a sign up button, then click on Hashed (next to Standard), then upload a file and it will show you the hash of your file, you copy the hash, save it securely and then you'll be able to log in via your hash instead of your email. I bet people will use their memes or NFTs to log in via this method.

I don't know what others think but I prefer Mullvad's approach but it would be quite interesting to hear your opinions.

You said it: people will use public images for this. Give it some time, and you can access someone else's account by hashing a meme. They should have created a random hash instead.

It's silly to enable upload of images, especially knowing that people will not use it correctly.

It reminds me of brainwallet, where people assume their text is unique or wouldn't guessed by other people. But with image (and few different file type), compression and various standard would make the hash different which makes brute-force more trickily.

I always thought Mullvad's 16 digits are a bit short. Let's say they have 10 million users, that makes it a 1 in 100,000 chance of guessing an existing account number. But I assume they know what they're doing, and the problem is probably only theoretical.
NYM's 24-word is the opposite: it's excessive. That makes it more work than needed to enter, especially on mobile. It's not as if anyone can brute-force billions of combinations per second, and even then, 12 words would have been more than enough.

Offer is not bad, but it's not that easy to get native NYM tokens for additional discount.
It's unlikely that will ever happen unless you know you are going to spend over 66.7 GB every single day.
But you can always create second account, or just use any other VPN like Mullvad for day or two.

Maybe, but most of us got used to 12 and 24 seed words for bitcoin wallets, so this should not be an issue.
Only negative thing is that you can't recover account if you lose seed words, so better save multiple backups in secure places.

Hah, I am using Mullvad for a couple of years and have quite a few devices in my house and never had issue with this.

Two desktops ^{[one is for gaming and the other one is for general stuff & streaming (with the help of a capture card) on a different internet connection]}, a laptop, an Android tablet and my phone ^{[the other Mullvad account is for other family members]}.

I wanted to give away free VPN account on Bitcointalk and I remember I asked LoyceV about that but I don't remember the details of his response (I couldn't just give away it as I remember). By the way, this method is very creative. I can upload an image on talkimg, post here and if someone tries it out on Windscribe, they might get access to a free VPN that can be filled with a surprise plan

I thought that if you upload an image on a website and download it later on your computer, the hash of the image file would be different because of a different metadata (I mean date created & date modified details) but seems I was wrong.
Surprisingly, when I opened the file in Photoshop and saved it and then uploaded on Windscribe, the hash didn't change (did something wrong happen?) but when I changed the name of the file, hash changed.

In the same way, you can create brainwallets. And I wouldn't be surprised if some people out there are scraping the web to check for a Bitcoin balance in sha256 hashes created from files.

It would be possible only if you are sharing the same account with multiple people who are all doing the same thing like you.
You could check at your current VPN setup and see how much data you are spending, and NYM vpn is relatively new, so they probably won't keep 2TB limits forever.

I don't want to go into details here, but watching a 4K video at 60fps consumes around "15-23 GB/hour", so it's not that hard to exceed those limits if you normally spend 10-14 hours in front of computers ^{[especially with multi-monitor setups]} and encrypted VPN traffics usually adds another 5% to 20% to the mix ^{[unfortunately]}.
^{- It's worth noting that for those of us who upload our gameplay content to YouTube & similar platforms and care about its overall quality, we have to record at a higher bitrate to counteract YouTube's compression, especially for fast-paced shooter games (e.g., 20 to 30-minute videos that I upload are larger than the reported data for watching such content for an hour).}

If you were referring to its GUI, it's possible with some VPN providers, but AFAIK, Mullvad doesn't log that kind of data.

I hope you weren't referring to them lowering the limits, because 8K content is in the corner ^{[it's already there, but in a few years, it'll be on a larger scale]}.

Are you sure that you have to upload content with high bitrate in order to achieve a high quality on YouTube? From my experience, converting video via Handbrake with optimal settings for YouTube content (you can experiment with this) is the best choice. I've also noticed that video quality is significantly high when I watch videos at 1440p quality.

Unfortunately, yes... Thank you for the suggestion, but based on another similar program that I use for my conversions, I can't lower my bitrate any further because it'll lead to some artifacts ^{[e.g., when there are fast movements and in parts with a lot of shadows]}.

Watching 4K content consumes significant bandwidth but if you watch movies, it's still not high because even 4K movies on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and other streaming serices, are still highly compressed. If you download 4K Blu-ray rips from torrent websites and want to enjoy the maximum quality, then sure, it will consume that much. If you also watch 4K twitch streams, that might consume that much bandwidth too because as far as I know, they use less compression compared to movie streaming platforms.

I think for some its just the thought of having a limit of bandwith that makes them avoid VPNs with that "feature". At least I know that's how it is for me, I simply woulnd't want to have that over my head, especially since quality VPNs with no limit (like Mullvad) are still pretty affordable.
