School Students learning bitcoin basics in Slovakia..

Is the Government of Slovakia aware of this? I don't think there's a ban issued by their central bank but they do not recognise it as a curency either. They will probably have a hard time explaining the risks of using BTC and its legal status later on hehe.

I cannot help but wonder what would be the next step for educating kids and the next generation. I could think of cartoons and other kid animations talking about bitcoin.

Hopefully, they'll be teaching the importance of managing your own money, and not blindly trusting another third party, i.e a bank. Its all well, and good teaching them about Bitcoin, but I'm not 100% sure that's completely relevant. At the moment, the vast majority of them will be using fiat, and of course in the future Bitcoin might have a more central role in the general public lives, but Bitcoin can be introduced into education when that is a fact, rather than speculation.

Although, I'm not trying to take a negative stance here, cryptocurrency whether it's Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency will definitely be a part of everyone's life in the future, and if anything they should be teaching students about how to avoid the common pitfalls when it comes to safety.

Maybe, right now, it is just a light introduction to these kids via cartoon comics. Just to have an idea what bitcoin is. Slowly, they will learn more about bitcoin and crypto in general. And that is the role of the academe if they are serious in integrating cryptocurrency in their curriculum. To have comprehensive education towards cryptocurrency and the risks involved.

if indeed the school supports it and the children can accept it well then that's a good thing because there are rarely schools that teach this kind of thing considering the development of bitcoin now getting better. it is true that as much as possible children start being introduced to bitcoin because it does not rule out the possibility that they can also use it in the future. As long as bitcoin still exists and continues to grow, it is hoped that they will be able to use it well in the future.

if kids this young was being exposed to bitcoin , then why not ours? best to accumulate that book and let youngsters read it for them to have fast development and knowledge about this best currency ever created.

though there are a need for deeper evaluation and attention yet this is a great steps for us parents to act .

We should educate our children about the latest technologies. So Bitcoin become a part of the future economy and the current economy as well. It doesn't matter children will use that or not, but at least they should have a basic knowledge about Bitcoin and how it works. So in near future, anyone can't mislead them. It's a good initiative that Slovakia teaches basic things about Bitcoin in the classroom. If you create huge pressure then children won't learn anything. Once they will learn the basics thing so they will be more curious to learn more. Some of them might become specialists as well.

Anyway, I welcome Slovakia's initiative, if more countries include Bitcoin & cryptocurrency as a part of economical books then we would see a massive adoption near future. On the other hand, students will be familiar with Bitcoin from the beginning.

It is commendable I must say. This will go a very long way in the lives of those children and the country as a whole. The concept is so huge and there are endless possibilities around it, and introducing it to them at this early age is good.

Wow, I wish the government in our country will adopt crypto so bitcoin education will be included in the curriculum. I already see the bright future for these students, as long as they'll focus in crypto, they'll definitely find the best opportunity and they can also help build a good community.

One way to increase adoption is to promote crypto, I think these kids are smarter than some people who thought bitcoin is just an Ponzi scheme that's why they enter to invest.

I think it is a brilliant idea to link the lemonade stand that are normally used for innovation by kids.. to introduce them to the idea that Bitcoin might be used as a payment option.     The youth of today, will be the future of tomorrow....

I hope that can attract awareness from the local authority to also learn bitcoin and allow their people to learn and use bitcoin.
If they can teach school students about bitcoin and they have a big interest in how to save their money in other forms, that can prepare their future because they will have an investment for the long term and they can sell their investment anytime.
That is good news in that country so it could attract another school to follow teaching their student about bitcoin.
But I am curious about what is inside that book because they are still young not many of them want to learn a serious thing, especially if that is related to money.

Teach them young and start them educating peoples money that will help them understand on how bitcoin will change the future payment system and it will be advantage for them on how bitcoin works and how to cope up with blockchain technology. This is a good sign of mass adoption and bitcoin education first hand.

I hope something like this happens in my country But it seems that in my country things like this will be very difficult to happen for now because there are indeed some government regulations that are not profitable for crypto, especially bitcoin in my country.
on the other hand I think things like this will be very good for supporting children's lives in the future.
Reflecting on crypto which does have a fairly high technology and is one of the businesses that can be recommended (in rough language) I think that with children learning this from an early age they are indirectly taught to keep up with technology so that they are not left behind and can compete there, on the other hand they are also educated to create their finances from an early age.

My personal opinion is that it is unnecessary to expose children to such information, because it is simply too early for them to be burdened with it. It is quite one thing to read a book, and quite another to understand what it is all about - and it is even worse if the person who needs to clarify these things is not an expert at it. I don't know how the book is conceived and how the teachers are trained, but from the fact that someone lives in ignorance, the worse thing can only be that they learned something completely wrong.

Don't worry, it's a 20 pages illustrated book that is about the basics, nothing complicated.

The only problem with it might be that it kind of implies that everything other than bitcoin and decentralization is bad...apart from gold.

That's wonderful, it's actually a miracle. Even if it is too exaggerated or biased, it is not bad to counter the message we get from governments and central banks that whatever is not created and/validated by them is basically a scam.

This is a very good start for the kids and for the future,been exposed fully to the bitcoin basics.
This will help increase the total number of kids involved in this,and great and better ideas can result from such kids likewise.

We will be able to start educating our children on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, without the need for schools, on the forum we learn many things, all constantly evolving to study and apply. The more time passes the more interesting the speech becomes, in addition to the book we will be able to adopt a draft for children for 10 years, could it be an idea?

I really do not see the fuss even if the government does not recognize it.

I am sure your government and mine do not recognize a lot of things and yet schools teach it,,, maybe it could be for history like how we learnt about cowrie shells as a form of money in the past (but surely not recognized or legal nowadays). Maybe it could be for general knowledge. Even if Bitcoin was banned you would still be doing a good thing educating young kids about it so they do not end up going out into the world and wondering wtf is Bitcoin

How can I find the original tweet with this news? I am just curious if this really is learning Bitcoin basics or just one of English lessons, where kids read English book? Or, I dont understand school program. Why students in Slovakie ( basically 5-7 grade perpahs), where Slovak is an official language, study Bitcoin basics on English. I am sure that their ministry of education can translate this book to Slovak. But, even if this is just an English class, learning basics is wonderful.
