Pretty much. Mirror ran on the Terra blockchain, and took Terra's algorithmic stablecoin UST to be worth 1 USD. Last week, UST broke and depegged, taking down Terra with it. Mirror's pricing oracles seem to be taking 1 USD = 1 UST as fact, but 1 UST is now trading at $0.101 so stock pricing is broken (example: oracles are reporting $TWTR to be worth 38.23 UST (~= $3.84), while stock market pricing is $38.24 USD). Even if pricing was accurate taking the depeg into account, a lot of trust has been lost in Terra so most people are probably looking to get out.

I wasn't expecting to win this contest, but I certainly didn't expect that this would be the reason I'd end up in last

Usually they should be backed by the actual stock or they would be 1/10th of an actual stock for example. If they aren‘t actually backed then it‘s just as sus as TUSD was

Theres coins like these on other chains that actually work pretty good (can think of an algorand project from the top of my head).

There never was any real stock backing these mirrored tokens - I don't think the SEC would approve of any company trying to do that. I haven't looked too closely into how they actually worked, but my rough understanding is that they worked sort of like a perpetual futures contract that tries to use something similar to funding rates in order to incentivize people to long/short the stock depending on the price of the token relative to the actual stock.

Wow... I mean I'm not surprised, but I don't get how people continue to trust these types of projects; since they always seem to go down sooner or later anyway.

Things aren't looking really good for pretty much all of us (especially @DarkStar_) and sitting at spot #17 I doubt that I could even make a comeback this year. Even those that shortly outperformed your stable coins or the bitcoin price itself are now all sitting way below that :/

Pretty amazing how even with Bitcoin losing exactly 50% of its USD-denominated value, it's still number 2 and outperformed all altcoin portfolios.
Goes to show yet again, how risky it is to invest in alts instead of Bitcoin...
