Is post and activity the same?

I just started Bitcoin talk recently and I posted a few things and I noticed that my post section increased but the activity section was still the same. so please can anybody explain the difference between post and activity ? I would really appreciate it.

The old rule was that activity is based off post put takes 2 seconds to increase per post (4 posts would mean the 4th as cticity point takes 8 seconds for example).

If you've not got activity points for a while, just wait to it to refresh.

You're limited to 14 activity points for every two week periods also (starting on a Tuesday - based off a timeframe statically set on the forum's server).

Activities are given every 14 days and its depends if you are active with that days.

You don’t need to be active all the 14 days to get 14 activity on each period. In a single period, if you have 1 post only, you are eligible for getting 14 activities and you can get that 14 activities anytime. Say on current activity period you have 1 post only. And then after two months you posted 25 times. So, you will have a total of 26 activities.

Sincerely speaking, someone with just 4posts count is not supposed to discover that post is growing more than activities. This is because, at the early stage both grows almost at the same pace, until a certain time, activity will now delay for about 14days which reflects on Wednesday.

Why are you even interested in that, both the activity and post are same and not upto 10.
I'll rather advice you pay attention to the most important of them, that is the merit. Thank you.

Sincerely speaking, someone with just 4posts count is not supposed to discover that post is growing more than activities.

They technically do not have to discover it using their own accounts, reading through the forum and viewing other users who have a disproportionate amount of activity and post is enough to stimulate curiosity and cause newbies to ask.
On their own account, they can also notice the time gap between when activity matches up to posts.

I'll rather advice you pay attention to the most important of them, that is the merit. Thank you.

I'll wouldn't advise hitting newiws down for their curiosity, a lot of the forum is confusing to new members and they should feel free to ask questions whenever they get confused. Merits should not even be focused on as it causes some users to write simply for that purpose.

There are limits and different waiting time between two posts. Your limits will be less when you rank up higher.

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Posts and Activities are a distinct but in a way, your post stands to reflect how active you've been and gets the activity meter counting.

Upon your registration with the forum, every post you make from 1-14 always counts towards your activity hence, your post count and activity reflects the same number. Once you've successfully gotten a total of 14 activities, your post count stops to reflect in your activity.

The next phase towards this calculation is, you making at least a single post in a day, which counts towards you being active for a day out of the rest days that comprises a 2weeks activeness lookup. You being active for 14days (2weeks), means you'll get a total of 14 activities for those active days and it keep reoccurring as such.

Interesting.. Your post and activity will be useless if you have no merits added to it. What does matter in the bitcointalk forum is your rank not the activity or number of posts contributed.
The core aim of this forum is to be enlightened and to have sound knowledge of crypto. Whereby everyone is been rewarded with merits based on their contribution

You can only earn 14 Activity points per 2 weeks. However if you make a post less 14 in a span of 2 weeks. The remaining uncredited activity on the previous 2 weeks will carry over on the following weeks or so until you reach the total unused activity points. You should at least post once on a period of 2 weeks to get that 14 activity balance that will carry over.

I really wouldn’t give Activity much though. People look into it due to it being a co-requisite for Ranks, but for 99% of the Accounts, it’s going to be the easy part to achieve, being therefore Merits the ones that normally mark the pace to ranking-up.

Nevertheless, Activity has some minor details that are not trivial to understand nor remember (namely how it kick-in counting during the first days, and how you can later on regain Activity for those 14 day windows you posted in, but did not post enough to obtain the maximum 14 Activity points – if I recall correctly). The core idea to retain is simple:
You can obtain up to 14 Activity points per Activity window (corresponding to 14 posts, regardless of whether you make more or not – although there is that about recovering the potential Activity).

In your case, your account was created in between the Activity window that goes from the 1/12/2021 6:25:14, to the 15/12/2021 6:33:20 (see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA/edit#gid=1012758442). Since you have already made more than 14 posts, the maximum Activity you will obtain is 14 in this Activity window (which you already have). Your other 6 posts don’t generate any more Activity in the said window, but they would generate activity in the coming window (15/12/2021 6:33:20 .. 29/12/2021 6:40:00) providing you make at least one post in that window timeframe – that enables scooping-up past posts to count towards Activity). Nevertheless, 14 points of Activity is the max. you’ll get during the next Activity window (you could make 8 posts only, and recover 6 more points from the surplus of post this week that count towards Activity).

Honestly, it’s pretty messy to go into the details, and I’d simply stick to thinking that, in general terms, if you want 14 Activity points per 14 days, just make at least 14 posts during that period of time (you could a few posts every day, or even make all those posts on the same day – with criteria).

It is already explained how both works. Post and activity points are related but it's not the same. Post will increase when you post anytime you want where as activity points will only increase when you post but there is a delay before your activity points increase. As explained above, activity points is limited to 14 activity points for 14 days. Basically, it will take around 1 month and 1 week to reach 30 activity points.

Yea, this can be correct. Well I just felt that only 4 posts is too early to notice the changes. Or maybe the user was impatient. However, he has been answered correctly.

There is no way someone can be interested in post count and activity and should not be more concerned with merits.
Activity and Posts counts without merits is as good as nothing.
In as much as you think that newbies being aware or anxious of merits will make them write for merits. Making them write quality for merits is better than them writing shits and spam because they careless about the merits.

Post count is the active count of your total post and to make not spam and also for the merit requirement they limit the activity of the user already given above the statement of how many days. Dont get bothered with the activity because it will automatically count once the designated date comes and you make your post, if you are quite active for sure the post count will surpass the activity count.

What should matters more to me is merit, it is the members that shares merit and only to posts that are qualified for the merit not just any post. Unlike activities that will later count depending on the amount of post that has been posted. OP is still having only 10 posts which in some minutes the activities will count as the same as the posts until it reach 14 posts and continuous posting which will then make the activities to be counted only 14 per 14 days. The activities is yes not what we should bother about.
