If knowledge alone is not enough to be successful in bitcoin investment, what else is required to be successful in bitcoin investment...I want you to know that knowledge is exceptional and also fundamental to human prosperity and progress,  so without knowledge you can't be successful...
First off I will correct the impression in case of any that success isn't actually a guarantee when it concerns Bitcoin accumulation... But then again there is a higher chance of success when certain things are in place .. So simply see this things.thats needs to be in place as the other additional requirements which is needed alongside knowledge which could increase the chances of success in the long run... There is the need for making use of discretionary income, being patient, having a safety net(emergency funds), building reserve funds, having a long term mindset, act of avoiding panic selling and whatnots..Though this things may look very basic but they are actually wey key alongside knowledge in giving an investor a smooth accumulation journey...

Yes, it's very true that success is never guaranteed, not only with Bitcoin but every other investment cause the future can't be exactly predicted, the reason why people so much believe in Bitcoin is because of how it's been very successful in the past, it made them believe that there's a potential to do better in future with more adoption.
Knowing about Bitcoin is not enough if there's no convinction, someone can know about it to an extent but not fully convinced that it's a good investment option but with conviction it would make the person hold longer instead of deviating along the line.

All you have just stated so far is cool and I have no reason to argue on that. But what I what to add is that in as much as bitcoin investment has proven over the years to be outstanding, and also a lather to success especially for long term holders. It is still important we invest only what we can afford to lose to avoid future worries.  However, I'm not questioning its ability of pushing someone towards success but for clarity sake and for lasting peace of mind in our investment journey, investing from our discretionary funds remain the best funds to invest with.

Do you actually think there's an amount of money an investor would want to lose? An investor may initially start his investment with the money he can afford to lose and he continues his accumulation until over time, he starts investing based on the amount of money he can afford to leave for a long time. The money a person can afford to lose is quite different from the money a person can afford to leave for a long time which we call discretionary income.

An investor may have a discretionary income which he can afford to leave for a long time because it's an investment, but not the amount of money he can afford to lose even though he can leave it for a long time. As bitcoin mega success is not guaranteed, long term losses are not also common. Therefore since losses are not common in a long-term, then you stand higher chances to make profit.

There's a level "the money you can afford to lose" will reach, and you can no longer afford to lose it again. We're banking on the credibility of bitcoin and not hoping to lose our money at anytime. Traders understand better about the money you can afford to lose than investors.

What people use for investment is the leftover money after settling other important financial expenses even though it's a left over money it doesn't mean people can afford to lose it for a very long time as expected of investors to hold unto an investment, do they're a different thing altogether.

Bitcoin investment is not like gambling where you depend on luck to win a bet, those are the kind of things people use money they can afford to lose and not for an investment, so I support your statement dear.

I still can not figure out what you actually mean by this. But from your rank I believe you should know and understand better that in as much as we cannot predict the future or know what tomorrow hold in stock, perhaps this is what brought about the idea of investing from our discretionary funds (which is the funds that is left over after all expenses has already been settled) and that is it. Nobody is matching or comparing bitcoin investment to be gamble. Far from that, the idea is just to play safe as an investor by doing the right thing at the right time.

Can't say you are wrong, the risk of losing Bitcoin will always be there, a good example is that ColdCard hack, those who lost their Bitcoin through ColdCard never saw it coming, they are true long term holders, I don't know when I started crying for a man on YouTube.

He came to the public for help, because everything he has was in that Bitcoin wallet, everything, he talked about how he used ColdCard as his personal bank account, he settles bill from that wallet device.

It's such a painful experience, I started thinking about myself, if such can happen to them then no one is completely safe, I can't withstand having such breakdown in this stage of my life, so no single investment is 100% safe.

You mustn't talk about my rank to prove a point cause Bitcoin knowledge is not measured by ran in this forum, you might have a better knowledge before even joining this forum. Well that's by the way, what i was trying to say is that telling someone to invest with what they can afford to lose is a good advise for gamblers but might not sound right for an investor.

It can mean almost similar with thing based on it's a leftover money but it makes more sense to term it discretionary income for investors cause a leftover money can mean an emergency funds but that's not really what investors use for investment. However if you're talking about the discretionary fund then we're saying same thing.

Yea knowledge do grows as we continue in the journey but when it comes to Bitcoin knowledge alone is not enough to be a successful bitcoin investor. You can understand Bitcoin so much and still go panicking when market drops. This are where having a clear plan and a proper risk management become important. You can only stay calm if only you know how much you can afford to invest and also why you invested it. This will help to stay calm during a difficult market conditions, as we journey in investing learning also continues.
I understand your point. because I also believe that there’s no ways persons can prove or say that they understand bitcoin to found way to escape the risk attached to it, because bitcoin is totally unpredictable. Even with people that have many years experience can also fall emotional decisions whenever the market starts moving against them, this is the reason why people should always enter bitcoin investment with long term mindset. Always know your limits and invest what you can comfortably afford. Knowledge is also important, when someone have the knowledge of what they About to do or invest in, it will make the whole process easy, especially when knowing the basics things about bitcoin.

Don't confuse anyone with gambling examples and here we are discussing long-term investment and Bitcoin. The reason why it is said to use discretionary income in the case of investment is that the Bitcoin market is very volatile and no one can say when what will happen in the market. For this, everyone is asked to invest with a source of discretionary income. Another reason is that investment is long-term and in long-term investment, the chances of a person getting profit from it are much higher. Whenever someone invests the required amount of money, he may not be able to hold that amount of money for a long time and he may need that amount of money before the end of the period or if there is a decline in the market at that time, he will definitely have to face a loss and sell it. Therefore, it is always said to invest with a source of discretionary income.

Before investing, one should also ensure that the money is in a position to be kept aside for a long time. Putting money into an investment and being able to hold on to that investment are two completely different things. A person may be able to invest a part of his income today, but if he needs that money in a few months due to some unforeseen circumstance, he may be forced to sell the investment. This sale can cause a huge loss, especially if the price is low at the time of need. In gambling, the results are usually uncertain and depend on short-term luck. But in long-term investment, one should consider one's risk-taking ability and stick to a specific plan. One should not only look at the potential gains of the market, but also consider one's financial situation, cash flow, urgent needs and long-term goals. This reduces the possibility of making decisions based on emotions.

That’s just the fact about the Bitcoin a lots of people believe that the Bitcoin can do more than how it did in past years, the future market can multiply by what we didn’t expect. Which is why up to today people are still purchasing the Bitcoin, and they will never stop that how they will continue forever. Because the Bitcoin has been the best coins in all over the world.

Yeah In every investments there risk’s which is why they have not guaranteed, but the Bitcoin is more better than any others coins like the altcoins that with the little time they will lose value from the market. That’s why people preferred to invest in only the Bitcoin because of potential volatility in the future market.

You bitcoin have given so many reasons why if compared to other investment, it ahead. When it comes to the entry point, no other investment have an easy entry like bitcoin. With as low as $5 you can begin your investment in bitcoin but other investment will require you to have much. We know all investment are volatile, that have made them unpredictable but with history bitcoin have proven that if you can hold for a long time, there is a probability of getting a good return.

But still don’t get Carried away with the possible return, still make sure you are investing with your discretionary income, because at the end profit is not certain or guaranteed in bitcoin investment.

I was of the opinion that the idea of investing what the person can afford to lose was wrong but this year made me realize that statement is right. Even though we are not praying for the worst to happen, we must understand that nothing is certain when it has to do with investing as there is always some form of risk involved. For instance, there were investors who did everything correctly but fell victim to the coldcard vulnerability, something that is completely not their fault but it happened and they lost their money. If such investor put money that he cannot afford to lose, that would not be easy for him to bear.

I understand the key important of the lose of asset you mentioned with the coldcard incident, but investing what you can afford to lose on the contest of crypto accumulation is inline with your DCA accumulation and patience tolerance, this doesn't include unforseen incident of wallet hack or whatever you may think, but yeah when you have a large amount of money in crypto assets like Bitcoin, is best you divide your portfolio and hold them on multiple wallet with second layer security measures.

The phrase “money you can afford to lose” is not only used for gambling alone, it’s advisable to use same for investments such as bitcoin because it’s a highly volatile market. Using such money gives you a bit of control and flexibility in cases of volatility, the emotional impact wouldn’t be felt as much and if there’s an emergency, you can easily sort it out using your backup funds.

Investing with money that’s not discretionary income is a wrong advice to give because that’s what you’re suggesting. Money you can afford to lose is the part of your discretionary you use to invest in bitcoin and the other parts for backup and spending.

I thought as much too because dude's think it's only applied to gambling alone which is not true. However, investing from this funds set you at peace in your investment. Again, you can barely get emotional despite several markets declines because it is already funds that has being set aside for that particular purposes and you can risk it for anything. So even if a situation that you never plan for later shows up, you wouldn't be totally destabilize.

You all seem to misunderstand me, I'm not that dumb to advice people to invest with money that's not discretionary funds, I've never advocated for that but bothered about the phrase, they're both similar but one is mostly used by gamblers so I'm just say that people should address it as discretionary funds when advising investors on what to use for investment.

Anyways lets not stress this argument back and forth, since they're same thing anyone can use whatever phrase whether "discretionary funds" or "money they can afford to lose".

I prefer saying "something I can afford" than something I can afford to lose, but I don't think all these should be a problem as long as we are investing with our discreationary income which is either seen as our left over funds or what we can afford, the example you gave using coldcard implies that anything is possible which is why the idea of using what you can afford while investing in Bitcoin is very important, to avoid being hard on yourself when the unexpected occurs, I think being part of Bitcointalk forum especially taking part in discussion on threads like this one, has helped in shaping our minds on the right things to do when investing in Bitcoin.

Learning withdrawal and at the same time learning Bitcoin investment process are literally nice idea to a very reasonable extent. Just the postulation of JJG's on outline of Bitcoin Investment Idea, is an educative idea to work with especially on Bitcoin investment. And investment needs quiet time and best commitment to have the needed knowledge to help escape losing capital investment rather than optimizing in profit making. So, I see that the best option should be learning the withdrawal methods before going into investment to gain at least the necessary basic knowledge of do and not in Bitcoin trading system. And if learning and investment basic knowledge are being split into categories the knowledge will appreciate and carry both task at the same time.

I think you should not be making learning Bitcoin withdrawal so tremendous, don't make it as something that if a newbie doesn't learn it before ever getting any stash that there will be a problem. By the way this thread is basically talking of investment ideas, so if you are trying to amplify the basics of trading, it should be clearly differentiated from investment ideas since the relevance of learning how to withdraw Bitcoin as an investor is almost negligible mostly from the beginning.
