If I'm being blackmailed by somebody who asks me to buy bitcoin and pay it to their account why can I not report this to bitcoin?
Do you know the person? If yes then you sue the person in the court of law. Or report him or her to the local authorities for scamming or fraudulent activity. You can't report anyone to bitcoin because bitcoin is own by nobody. It is a decentralized digital currency for exchange of goods and services in other words, bitcoin is an internet money to buy something online. And nobody get it. You can't trace whom you have sent the bitcoin, but you can only trace the address which the public key but the owner is unknown. That is whenever you are dealing with someone on BTC as p2p make sure you know the person face to face or well trusted person. If someone blackmail you after receiving the coins from you then your money is gone. You can only buse KYC to track the person.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

My advice for anyone who may be facing a similar problem or have been a victim of a crypto scam, report the case to your local police. There is little chance of recovering stolen bitcoins, so if still in the early stages like OP’s case, I suggest you contact the police immediately. If you’re worried word may get out that are being blackmailed you can call the scammer bluff.
BTW I don’t why this topic was bumped, the OP hasn’t been active here in a very long time.

I know about these kinds of situations, and I think they should try to solve this problem. However, if you ever are blackmailed and don't know what to do about it, you can easily write a request to https://digitalinvestigation.com/blackmail. All you have to do is to insert some information and follow the steps. The best thing is that everything is online, and they care about all the cases they receive,d. I was blackmailed two years ago while in college, and they were the only ones that helped me to get over that period.

This being a resurfaced thread whose case I recall, it does seem more like an attempt to publicize the business through the account’s name, and not much else. At least from a practical point of view, the account had no further activity once the OP was created, and never bothered to come back to provide further details or query any further.

I don't think that's the case, just the data diggers that perform spirit rituals while digging deep into abyss into the in hopes of bringing the long-inactive OPs back from the eternal slumber.

Happens to other threads as well.

correct me if I'm wrong , have you been a victim of ransomware? mostly people who where blackmail are people who are files in their computer are encrypted or unable to open unless, you paid them a certain amount of bitcoin, or they are holding a file or something that is very important to you,
you have no choice but to pay, and wish that they will give that once  you pay, if its not that important then format or don't bother to communicate with them.
also this topic is like over a year now.

also this topic is like over a year now.

Then why are you responding to a question that was asked more than a year ago and to a member who hasn't been active for an extended period of time?
