Both my girlfriend and I have been infected with Covid-19, not sure which variant though. The disease was passed to us from one of her stupid friends, who was careless and was out drinking every night.  Symptoms include, headache, sudden fever (up to 38 C), sore throat and coughing, while my tonsils look swelled and inflamed.

This is the fourth day after I got diagnosed as positive, while the quarantine supposedly last 5 days. I highly doubt it that I'll be able to get back to work by Saturday. Have you been recently infected? What symptoms did you have, and how long did the infection last?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Most people only experience mild symptoms, if any symptoms at all.

Worth noting that most everyone in the world will eventually get Covid. Even the folks living remotely in Antarctica had Covid outbreak - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59848160. There is no point in controlling a highly transmissible upper respiratory virus. It's too late for that.

So if living in the most isolated continent in the world will not protect you, it's better to embrace it. Anywhere from 3 in 10 to 4 in 10 cases are asymptomatic, and roughly 10 percent of cases (probably even less) are severely symptomatic. Roughly 5 percent of confirmed Covid cases result in a person being admitted in the hospital. Approximately 0.1 percent of overall cases result in death (0.1 percent death rate without vaccination, to be clear). And, some have speculated, for every one confirmed Covid test case, there could be 4x as much unconfirmed cases, at a minimum.

With Omicron, highly transmissible and less than 100 deaths world wide, perhaps millions of confirmed cases. A death rate of virtually zero.

Covid is now more mild than the flu.

I know people who've been infected recently (in the UK), and it's all the omicron variant, which is sweeping through the population very rapidly. Check the data for your country, but it's likely omicron that you have. If so, it's relatively good news in that the symptoms for this variant are on average much less severe.

Forgot about work for a while. Hope you both get better soon.

I was tested and was negative. Before I went for the test I was having symptoms like feeling dizzy,  constant headache and cough so I had to go and check my self up. I have some relatives and friends who were test positive buy they got treatment and vaccination and they are fine and strong. Don't worry @OP you will be fine too.

Thank you, I've recently read that despite Omicron variant being currently dominant, the analogy of cases between Delta and Omicron are approximately 60/40. Unfortunately, can't find the source of the article, its information could even be invalid as we speak. What's frustrating though is that I'm suddenly developing a fever, starting from early - late afternoon, every single day.

So this means the docs couldn't reliably determine which variant you have? That's seriously fucked up.

Im pretty sure i had a delta variant in the begining of last year. Symptoms were running nose, sore throat, and mostly brain fog. It lasted for 2 weeks or so and the brain fog was super bad, zero memory, unable to focus etc. Didnt have super high fever. Started to get scared because it didnt go away, and heard of long terme covid, started to throw all i could find as supplement, vitamin, herbals etc then eventually it went away.

I would not worry too much either but dont underestimate it either, take your vitamins, isolate, stay warm etc for it not to take root and not turning into a long covid which i read can still lead to some permanent damage.

Hope you recover soon take care.

That's a long story, you'll need a PCR to identify the variant, I only took a Rapid Antigen Test, PCRs are costly, while even if you take one at a public hospital, which is a hassle process with long waiting hours to get tested, it's almost impossible to find someone who will answer that question. I can only speak regarding my area's hospital. Samples are sent to another hospital in a nearby city, taking hours to receive the results, while it's unknown who to contact in order to learn something so simple.

On top of that, the government's website is crap, the test result, along with its variant if positive, should be available online, using your social security number. Instead of that, you can only access negative PCR/Rapid test and generate a certificate, while in case of a positive result, it only prompts you to issue your certificate of recovery.

Thank you, not sure which variant I got, Omicron sounds less intimidating than Delta, especially for those who are vaccinated. It's frustrating though, that I still get fever every day.

As far as i understand most of the symptoms are mild but they can also last for a long time, as this virus seems good at evading the immune, survive in pockets, get in differents organs, and potentially lead to long lasting condition which many repport being frustrating albeit not being life threatening.

The thing you can try if it doesnt go away is garlic, honney ( royal jelly), echinacea, vitamins ( mostly C, D ), clearing your nose ( neti pots ) .

Yes, I got infected month ago. There was quite big outbreak at my work, so, they made tests for all of us. My test was positive. My Covid experience wasn't bad. Actually, if not test, I would have no idea that I have covid because I didn't had any symptoms. Most likely it was Delta because month ago there was no Omicron in my country. Highest temperature was 37.2°C. So, for more than week I was lying in front of TV, drinking beer and eating junk food. I got some extra weight :/.
About isolation. I got positive rapid antigen test on Friday. But official 10 day isolation started on Monday when I made PCR test which was also positive. During these 10 days police called to my phone twice to check that I'm not breaking isolation rules.
I took vaccine back in May, so, now I won't be forced to take booster Smiley. And strangely, nobody at my home didn't got infected, even unvaccinated person. It's strange, because we didn't tried to avoid each other, we even drink brandy from same glass Cheesy.
From my work, maybe 16 people got positive test results and almost every of them had light symptoms, nobody was hospitalized.
OP, I wish you and your girlfriend to get well soon.

I've had covid 19 and it took me 3 weeks to recuperate.
The symptoms I experienced were the same as what you mentioned, but what made the difference was that my sense of taste and smell when I was affected by COVID-19 really became dull. my nose can't smell at all even though the perfume is applied to the nose.
and my tongue can't taste the food but after 3 weeks my sense of smell and taste gradually returned and returned to normal.

from my experience covid 19 is not much different from the common cold. the difference is that our senses of smell and taste really don't seem to work.

and don't panic because in my experience it's not as dangerous as reported. because I managed to heal myself.

I quarantined myself for 3 weeks. and recovered without any strange drugs. I only take fever reducer. and eat lots of fruit.

Three weeks doesn't sound like a simple common cold. Anyway, I'm glad you're okay, I didn't have any loss of smell or taste, my girlfriend does have compromised taste though. Apart from fever and sore throat, I also felt (and still feel to some degree) disorientated, or a little off, not sure how to express it correctly. Anyway, I'm almost fine now, and I've returned to work, but still I'm getting this tiredness and dizziness feeling.

My sister-in-law and her husband and two kids got covid.

Both were vaccinated.  Kids recovered within 5 days.  Them, not so much.

The first 3 days were bad, then it got better for a week, they thought they beat it, but then, their
symptoms worsened: high fever, headaches, difficulty breathing, etc.

It has been 4 weeks since they all got infected, and they are still sick.

Thank God we convinced them to get vaccinated last summer. Otherwise, they both would probably be dead by now.

That's quite a long time to be sick, glad to know that they're doing better. I'm still trying to convince my parents to get vaccinated, especially my father who is quite old, but to no avail. If they eventually get sick, they won't go through it as easy as I did, which is worrying me, but they are not getting it. I hope they don't end up regretting it.

No, I'm grateful that I have been kept away from the corona virus and can still do activities.  However, there are some of my neighbors affected by the corona virus and today have been cured.

I just saw this study which seem to be more and more confirmed that say the covid infection can have long lasting damage, mostly on cognitive function and tiredness etc

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(21)00324-2/fulltext

So don't understimate it because the symptoms are low and doesn't look dangerous, i would strongly advise to take any measure you can to heal as fast as you can Smiley

Thanks for the feedback. But covid symptoms are most dangerous for those who are already been infected from blood pressure, pregnancy.

Have got high fever, high body temperature, a bit sour in the throat, but then I did well to isolate me self and take good observation.
I was scared to hell, but then I was simply not having anything wrong with me...this was the earliest stages of the pandemic.
Had ginger and garlic to feel a bit warm, headed later in the day to a pharmacy, good God man was good, Was a bit sick of malaria and typhoid..... Grateful it wasn't Covid.

By the infinite mercy of Almighty Allah, neither I nor any of my family was affected by Corona. But I have to tell, several of my acquaintances were infected with corona, the father of one of my friends died of Covid- 19 Cry.
As well my mother is a school teacher, her colleague was infected by Covid and died. It was very difficult for their family to accept this death, I pray that this covid never comes back again anymore!
