Hi!. That's interesting. How are you accepting payments? LN? Or maybe through blockchain and don't wait for confirmation? Both?

Nice move but don't you think the Government can come after your Bank Account if they know you are collecting Bitcoin as payment because we know that the Government has instructed all financial institutions to block any Bank account with cryptocurrency transactions, and as @Poker Player asked, what is your mode of payment?

Hello, friends am from Nigeria a country where government regulation on cryptocurrency is flexible according to the law,
Regulations of cryptocurrency in Nigeria are not flexible, the government has banned all financial institutions from getting involved with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, meaning the only way to buy or sell Bitcoin as a Nigerian is through peer to peer transactions.

In December 2022 I launched a campaign among crypto friends to adopt Bitcoin as a mode of payment in our venture and outlets, on 31st of January I open a Coffee shop and the Capital City Abuja for Bitcoin and none Bitcoin customers. This is aimed at promoting Bitcoin adoption and, as a newbie member here, I wish to see your advice and suggestions.
How do you plan to facilitate cryptocurrency related transactions for your business?

You want to see our advise and suggestions about what?
How to promote Bitcoin or how to grow your coffee shop business?Or maybe both.
My only marketing advise would be to find local online groups of Bitcoiners in your city and invite them to your coffee shop.If there aren't any online local Bitcoiner groups in your city, then why don't you just create one (on Facebook or some other social media)and invite Nigerian Bitcoiners to join the group.
I can't dive you any advise about how to deal with the crypto laws and regulations in your country.
I guess that the anti-crypto regulations in many African countries are the main reason why there are so many Africans on p2p Bitcoin platforms like Paxful.

Maybe you can do find any of the cryptocurrency related service provider or a wallet. Request them for a collaboration, because you're focusing on spreading the word about bitcoin and make it a daily usable currency. As you've got bitcoin as well as non-bitcoiners as customers. Maybe a non bitcoiner too will prefer using bitcoin when provided with some sign-up bonus from a wallet service provider or a cryptocurrency service provider with whom you've made a collaboration. This could mutually add a customer to you as well as the cryptocurrency service provider.

I applaud your efforts and will to grind as a business owner. I would suggest broadening you scope with more crypto than just BTC. It's because, for some years now, BTC has been considered as a store of value, as you would think of gold, a long-term investment, and usually, people don't want to touch their investments. Look at it as if you sold a tiny percentage of your real state investment for coffee. Now, other crypto coins do not have that stigma, and people trade and pay with them more freely, so maybe that some thing to take into account. I wish you luck.

There are a couple of things here,
31st January was yesterday so you can't really expect a lot of customers in first day of your business and we all know bitcoin adoption (even in a place with most adoption) is still pretty small so the chances of a bitcoiner coming to a brand new shop in its first day is tiny.
Keep in mind that generally speaking bitcoiners (specially when price has dropped recently) are reluctant to spend their bitcoin. They are more willing when price is rising up or has gone up a lot. We've had a big drop recently.

Also you may have overestimated the adoption level in your country. I don't have any data on Nigeria  and in my experience sometimes statistics are not reliable at all.

Finally it may be the business itself, coffee may not attract that many bitcoiners. For example I've seen a couple of shops selling computer hardware a couple of years ago that accepted bitcoin in my city and they were happy with the number of payments they had gotten until then.
But again, don't lose hope. It is the start, maybe start some promotional campaigns and advertise your business.

Is it December 2021 when you've launched the campaign with your friends and just yesterday you've announced the opening of your coffee shop?
Odusko if it was launched yesterday and you haven't seen some bitcoin paying customers. That's okay, it will take time until your coffee shop will be flooded over by them. You're doing a great job and initiative with that campaign and as well as opening your business. You just have to keep on doing what you've started and learned more about your local exchanges there because it's easier for you and your customers if you can transact off-chain to have zero fees.

What I mean by the world flexibility is that the federal government of Nigeria has not decided on cryptocurrency yet, this makes citizens not convict to the use of p2p, only the central financial institutions are instructed not to offer cryptocurrency-related transactions, and facilitation of crypto transactions through the banking system.

I understand that Nigeria has a good rate of cryptocurrency adoption as more and more unbanked people find it interesting and convenience to be pay and be paid with cryptocurrency but there is a big hindrance to this story and it is, of course, no other than the government itself which is poised to never recognized and regulate cryptocurrency because of unfounded fear that it can open the Pandora's box and they in power can be affected at the end. Well, peer-to-peer can surely be done in this case and I think this quite popular in Nigeria. Will it be possible that there can be an app where people can use to enjoy cryptocurrency just like paying for a cup of coffee somewhere?

paying for coffee with bitcoin, whether you pay with blockchain or with LN, it sounds interesting, but we need to know that there are too many risks that we have to face, because the first problem may be because it involves the government, because the government can track all your transactions, I personally don't will do all that, I prefer to pay using fiat, because I prefer bitcoin as an investment, and will not use bitcoin to buy small things, but different depths of fish, different people have different ways of thinking.

Congratulations on your new business and I hope your business will thrive. Every new business certainly has challenges in running it including what you did, maybe you need to join the crypto community in Nigeria so you can promote your business, from some of the information I read, actually Nigeria is a country that also prohibits crypto transactions but so far the ban has had no effect at all on increasing the crypto community in the nigeria, and even reportedly many crypto communities are doing crypto exchange directly or P2P in the country, so in my opinion, the only way to get your coffee shop visitors  with buyers who using bitcoin is the way :  you must join the crypto community in the nigeria, so you can socialize with fellow crypto lovers while you promote your coffee shop to them.

The first suggestion is actually a must to everyone opening a business and I'm quite intrigued you haven't mentioned it.
How about telling poeple even in your own Nigerian community on this forum what's the name of the coffee shop, where is located, and put some pictures about it so poeple would know where to go. Why you haven't done such a thing is beyond me.

~
But again, don't lose hope. It is the start, maybe start some promotional campaigns and advertise your business.

When he tries to keep the business as secret as possible, not once mentioned before in all his posts, not a flyer nothing seems to me like he is trying to run a secret society club or a conspiracy den rather than an actual business.

With the decentralized nature of Bitcoin that have Thousands of Nigeria Citizens who have knowledge of blockchain and digital currencies and have adopted it, In December 2022 I launched a campaign among crypto friends to adopt Bitcoin as a mode of payment in our venture and outlets, on 31st of January I open a Coffee shop and the Capital City Abuja for Bitcoin and none Bitcoin customers. This is aimed at promoting Bitcoin adoption and, as a newbie member here, I wish to see your advice and suggestions.

Thank Odusko

For the first ,it would be nice if you tried to socialize it to the public, about the good and the convenience when they have bitcoin, and you're also have to convey the bad side when later they have bitcoin and will make transactions using bitcoin.
I think they should know that

Nigeria being an anti-Bitcoin country has really shown how bad the option is and that operating a business that publicly accepts Bitcoin may be hard maybe you should update us more on how you intend to promote this coffee business of yours.

Maybe idk, create a social media page first instead of posting about it like this? Then just link that page to the post or to an advertisement in the marketplace or something. A lot better as a form of introduction to your supposed to be made coffee shop. Heck, you should've started introducing it locally even before here, that is unless you were offering some online assortments that deliver globally, then you can start introducing it to a global audience, such as here, where the majority (if not all) are Bitcoin enthusiasts which is your target audience.

I wish to see your advice and suggestions.

don't break the laws just because you want to see bitcoin being adopted in your country, if you're not breaking the laws then i congratulate you, but why didn't you post the caffe name and location?

Nigeria being an anti-Bitcoin country has really shown how bad the option is and that operating a business that publicly accepts Bitcoin may be hard maybe you should update us more on how you intend to promote this coffee business of yours.

I was curious about it too

Thanks for sharing your story! That’s very cool of you to share as well of course extremely cool of you to have opened up. I’m curious are there a lot of your fellow countrymen who feel the same way about bitcoin and cryptocurrency? Thanks thanks again for sharing!

You're welcome, but then Crypto Currency in Nigeria are not being supported not backed by the government.
You should carry out a good research about it, good to see you opened a coffee shop and accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment.
Late January, I was involved in a football competition that paid it's winner's in bitcoin and I was lucky to be one of them, winning the highest goal scorer award with payment made in Bitcoin.
Nigeria is doing good, being one of the top five that are using bitcoin and Crypto Currencies.
