100,000 manual reporting isn't an easy task, even if it means reporting every post in the forum(good or bad), many will still not achieve this fit. It is more evident that your dedication to the forum is unalloyed. Keep it up.
I recall there was when I do stumble on the one word comments, but I attest it has reduced drastically. I thought the shit posters have repented, not knowing that people are doing great works behind the scene.

I think Bitcointalk should hire you, as you have spend more than one year of your lifetime logged in fighting scam, cheaters and low value posters. Sometimes I envy free time you have. 100k reports, that is minimum 100k minutes sacrificed cleaning bitcointalk. I know that you dont have a regular work, and your earning comes from trading or investing. That is a double envy, because you have free time to make proper research.

Ratimov, being an active spam reporter, I also know that this is not an easy job to do especially since we do it manually. I don't do it every day but I will do it whenever I have free time and I don't want to do this as a race but it's a good attempt to keep the forum clean. You really have invested a lot of time reporting spammers to moderators, 100K good reports are great proof of your great work and you currently deserve the forum badge as the best spam buster.

I don't have many reports, but I did report nearly 1500 spam posts or low quality posts that were just made to fill the weekly posting quota ^{[without any contribution to the forum]} on the campaign they were promoting. Most of them are bounty participant, some of them are also bounty participant who are starting to switch to bitcoin payment campaign. I won't publish usernames for a while, but managers may need to blacklist them.




*I made some mistakes while reporting posts, 3-4 posts out of 6 posts marked as bad due to double reporting.

It really isn't; it's only been in the last year or so that lower-ranked members have started to create threads tooting their own horns when they achieve a new rank.  That never used to be a thing.

Goddamn!!  If I'd hit that milestone for post reporting, I'm not sure I'd be able to refrain from the aforementioned horn-tooting.  That's a lot of reports, dude!  I've been a member of the forum since 2015 and I don't even have 5000 reports in total, and there was a period in 2017-18 when I was reporting tons of posts--so props to you for helping the forum out.  You really deserve a large, brightly-colored badge under your avatar in recognition of your reporting. 

I'm sure a lot of members don't realize what it takes to keep the forum relatively free of spammers, shitposters, and other various rule breakers.  The people who report posts to the mods do so behind the scenes, and nobody would ever know to what extent they contribute to forum cleanliness if it wasn't pointed out in threads like this or when Theymos dumps reporting data ever four years or so.

So again, kudos to you, Ratimov.  Keep it up.

To my shame, there are exactly 0 reports on my account. I didn't pay attention to this issue at all and will have to fix it. It is unacceptable that people like Ratimov pull the whole load. The more users join this action, the better it will be for the community.

I think a new rank should be introduced instead, next to the Legendary. You probably already guessed what the new rank will be called? Which will be awarded at around 5000-10000 merits and make 50.000-100.000 reports.

I disagree. Only Theymos and the moderators can ban or unban users. LoyceV, Upgrade00 are not moderators afaik. I know this because LoyceV has a thread on meta for reporting plagiarist to be banned if he had the power to ban accounts, many of the reports on that thread would have been handled immediately but unfortunately they are not. LoyceV can whitelist accounts with bad ip that’s as much as I know.

6666 merits would be included in the save your merits record here . From June 2020 to april 2021 reported a total of 20,000 posts which is not an easy task (my guess is that all of that posts reported are 100% accurate). Ratimov's action is kind of the same as moderators but it is about reported posts with 100% accuracy, damn. I am sure that you did contribute a lot to the forum even if you don't have that total amount of posts. Seen many of your threads and it helped me that's why you noticed that I always share the link of your threads to newbies who are asking for help.

In February, it took an average of 2,5-3 hours. There was a lot of free time, winter period. I decided to take a break from the markets, investing, charts and other things. Now, with the onset of spring and a more active schedule, I will no longer be able to send such a volume. But I think I can sent 10 000 reports a month.

There is actually no 'reward' per se, of course for someone who reports that amount of posts within such a short space of time, you get the deserved recognition from the community, which Ratimov absolutely has already, the only sort of 'reward' might be in the future if the Admin of the forum decides to implement a reporters badge that has been discussed previously, if that happens then Ratimov is definitely going to get one, no doubt about that.

In my opinion, being a newbie you basically should be more concerned about contributing to the forum through learning more about the forum in general, Bitcoin/other whatnots, and making quality posts and participating in discussions, thus somewhere along the line you can now start reporting posts in mass, it would be easier for you then as you will be able to discern which post is LQ/not in the right section/breaks the forum rules, etc.

I am a new member to the forum, though I started  knowning Ratimov from last month. I am really happy and impressed  from the activities of him. Whenever I see his name in a thread, I recognized him as a good charitable hardworking man. Ratimov, I believe, I will be like you one day in this forum. It's been exactly 1 year since this thread was created. At the moment, the contribution to the fight against low-quality posts has stopped at around 130,000 reports.

Lately it's hard to find free time for this type of activity, but maybe this year I will be able to take a new peak. Now reporting on the forum is going through hard times. Very low activity of reporters.

Still you have contributed much to the forum in reducing spam posting and your 130k reports is also a big number and motivation for all those who are submitting reports to the moderator.We all have some IRL work also which makes us little busy but taking your words and knowing your capabilities I know other record is on the verge here.

I think the main part is helping forum to reduce the spam in any way possible and if you see his reports have high accuracy and action is taken on most of them so he is helping a lot through this way also but if we say adding him as moderator then it's good option but till that time he is doing great job and it should be appreciated.I don't think his time is being wasted with it as moderator takes action also considering his report so his contributions are duly noted.We all know there are lot of things pending on forum which @theymos has to do so leave it to him while @Ratimov hits say 200k reports.

There is one problem with OP becoming a moderator, he wouldn't be able to combat the spam anymore because he would need to wait for reports to act upon. Though he could use an alt to report and use the main account ( mod ) to deal with the reports, considering the amount of accurate reports, this should be easy to hire him as a mod.

I don't think it is really necessary for any moderator to take action against a spam post or any post which violated the forum rules only if there is a report made against it, If I am not wrong mods regularly visit their boards and lock the spam mega threads when its too spammy and also they handle the reports made by others.

Yeah, we do. I've made sure this year that I'm doing a lot more of that (plus I've got a lot of time now that certain big events in life have passed). I delete hundreds a day since the new year has started, which are simply me going through my sections, and deleting the spam. I've actually convinced myself it'll make a difference too, and I'm hoping that by the end of the year we'll have caught up with most of the spam within those sections.

So, while the reporting from users has definitely significantly reduced, which we absolutely miss getting those reports. The moderators are still doing quite a lot behind the scenes on their own accord. I know I'm definitely not unique in that situation. Wow! I have only 3826 reports and I thought I was doing good. It was easier to find spam a few years ago I do not find as much as I used to. How are you finding 130000 posts to report at all? What boards are you reporting in? I see you are from the russian local board is there a lot of spam there? It is odd that you have not been made a mod yet but I agree with the others I think you should be a global mod with that many reports.

It can only be because more members are trying to be better on their posting habit and discard spamming. It is good that many more are showing repentance. That is not to conclude that there are less spam posts but there are less number of members who post spams now. A small unit of members spamming now unlike before where more units did it. But no matter how anyone sweeps this forum for spam posters, the gambling section, altcoins and Off Topic threads will always have spammers.

Sometimes i also wonder if Ratimov is a kind of robot that has been doing this jot only being consistent about it but it never affects his postings and the quality delivery he had always give to the forum, i hope you know what it means to report a post that you must have gone through it and concluded it's not what should be, also @AverageGlabella if you think you want to get this aspect as of interest then i think the altcoins section is full of spammers and the bitcoin section as well and those that are common in doing this shitpostings are the newbies, but remember it need to take your quality time, Ratimov should have his own side of the story to tell as well regarding this, I also got motivated by this.

Unfortunately, this spam reduction has a downside. All the same with spam, the number of active users and the total number of published posts also decreased:

Yeah, but also the amount of activity in peak levels was due to the ICO/bounty craze, which we're still recovering from. That wasn't real activity it was just users coming in to post spam. I'd rather smaller activity, and real discussion than that.

That's what most reports are these days is cleaning up from the peak activity, because these days I find that the quality of discussion is much better in general. There's some problematic sections for sure, such as the Altcoin Discussion, Bounties, Gambling Discussion, and the Tokens section. However, the bumping changes actually reduced a lot of the spam in the altcoin sections.

This is a crazy activity of phishers who spam links in the mining and altcoin sections. I have been watching this since 2021, thousands of bans in the modlog of various newbies and fresh registrations. I wonder how this spammer or a group of spammers managed to get so many IP addresses to register thousands of accounts and evade a proxy ban?

Yeah, and bounties will continue to be a problem likely. This has always happened, but I've noticed, and I know a few other moderators have noticed, but users reserving posts, and never coming back to it at all. This is quite common with bounty threads. Instead of filling out their details like the other bounty submission posts, they just leave it blank, and go onto another thread, and do the exact same. It's like they're trying to secure a spot on the bounty, and do that across various projects trying to maximize their chances. I don't know how many of those I've deleted recently.

Reserving posts has always been a problem, but not on this scale.

I tried to report such posts and got BAD. What is the point of such posts and why the moderators do not consider them low-value posts remains a mystery to me.

I can't talk for other moderators, but generally recently made posts I'll have a little more tolerance for. So, if they've posted today, and it's reported I'd just leave it unhandled, and keep an eye on the post. Although, for the most part these posts are weeks old, and they get deleted by me for sure. Some of them are years old. So, yeah I delete them. The only one's I don't are the reserve posts by the original poster of the thread. However, anyone else that posts these random letters gets deleted or any bounty submissions which don't have anything filled out, and have been there for a decent amount of time will get deleted. Honestly, I'm not a fan of users posting this type of content. It's spam at the end of the day.

Basically, for me the longer its been there the quicker I remove it.

It really makes no sense to touch recently published posts and reserve posts in active topics, but I always reported crossed out posts and reserve posts from rather old topics. For example, in the bounty section, mprep removes such posts without any doubt, but why does this logic not work in the service section? This is weird. I have also noticed that the reserve posts of banned OPs in their created topics are also deleted, but not in all sections the moderators are of this opinion. What would you personally do with such a report?

It's just the difference on the interpretation of moderators. I've noticed things that myself, and mprep does in the Altcoin section, isn't universally done in other sections. I've actually had to change reporting habits based on that too. For example, merging posts together, something that mprep is very active in doing, isn't always the case elsewhere. However, there might be reasons for that, but I haven't dug into it as I don't think its a big deal. I personally, don't care much about my report accuracy. I've racked up a few bad reports for duplication reports recently. Honestly, it's probably the majority of my reports, despite having a userscript to try, and avoid it.

Further, you can observe how these mature accounts simply copy other people's reports. But the more such accounts are killed, the more difficult it will be for cheaters to create new accounts. Yeah, I don't doubt it. Although, it's definitely increased recently, which is the weird part of it all. We've moved on from the "great project" era, and now we've got the reserved posts era. Like I said though, I'm hoping to restore the sections I moderate into something that can be read comfortably. Of course, a lot of users here will still complain about the section due to the actual projects being crap, but technically that isn't against the rules. Anything that's against the rules I'm hoping to have caught up to present day by the end of the year, which sounds crazy, but we really did have a ton of spam in that 2017 to early 2019 period.

Hopefully, reports will start picking up again, but that'll probably require another spam influx which isn't ideal.
