Well, mostly it's the knowledge.
Basically anything what happend since BTC bang has some sort of record here. First faucet, first purchase (famous 10k BTC pizzas), BTC hack in 2010...

Some users are making guidelines to help newbies with their initial struggles in cryptospace.

In Marketplace section you can purchase/sell goods or offer your own service.
You can also ask other users for support in case of doubt whether some service is legit (myself helped couple users to avoid being scammed by fishy online shops).

In Meta section you'll find rules and info related to forum.

If you're tech-savvy I'm sure you'll find interesting Development & Technical Discussion section.

This current forum's domain name was registered on 2011-06-24, several months after Satoshi's last activity. Initially, the forum I believe Satoshi used to make those posts was SourceForge forum before everything was migrated into Bitcointalk forum.

If you lurk around here, you learn most of cryptocurrency and bitcoin related ideas, concept, and terms. Theres to much to learn for newbies here. One thing is for sure you gain knowledge and learning about it if you take seriously the reading and engaging here. Thr crucial part is the engagement since there are rules here. As for Satoshi, the creator of Bitcoin, yes, it is true that he is the originator of the first version of this forum. I believe the forum was part of the bitcoin.org domain at the time.

Probably not. The resources found in this forum is incomparable to the resources found in other forums, definitely more than all of theirs combined. History happened here. The baby steps of Bitcoin took place here. Discussions as to the official Bitcoin logo, number of decimals, and many others happened here. If OP is interested to read more about the past, this forum can offer a lot, discussions that are so rich, discussions in which Satoshi himself/herself/themselves participated.  

But as far as current discussions are concerned, I agree with you.

Satoshi is the founder of the forum after he migrate from http://bitcoin.sourceforge.net/boards/index.php to this forum. You can see his statement on the very first post of his account which you will find here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5.msg28#msg28 , Theymos take over his position after he became sirius pass it to him. You can check below the statement of theymos about the forum history. I hope this clear some misunderstanding here.

The control was transferred to theymos around 2010 and he is the only owner and running the Bitcointalk effectively.

It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

1)The more time you spend on forum the more familiar you become with it's working like rules and regulations which you must read before writing up anything : Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

2) Apart from it you will gain knowledge about Bitcoin both technical and non technical and crypto market as a whole.This is best thing that you cannot get anywhere else free of cost.There are lot of guides,books and courses available online for handsome amount but will not teach you in detail or even accurate as this forum can give you.You will have enough knowledge in future that sharing it with others will make you feel confident that how much you know about the market.

3) Making up new friends and sharing your thoughts and knowledge with like minded people who will pour into threads the knowledge they have and having discussion with them is really efficient.

4) But remember to increase your knowledge with time and spend time in the Manner that will help you.

5) You will rank up with time from newbie to some high rank members and can join signature campaign later on as this is secondary part and can help you financially also.

I will agree with you mate that plagiarism is the mortal sin in this community but as I observe this is the Common issue of some newbies who want to rank up faster, they will copy the article from different sources and pasted it here without sitting the original post. But I am happy that there are a lot of users who do their best and fight that user who have a violence to the forum.

Welcome to the bitcoin community, the only benefits you get from this forum is knowledge just take your time to search through the forum to find all the answers to most newbies questions and if you have properly used the search features and could not find whatever you are looking for you can as well make a thread and ask your question in the right board and section in the forum. I will advise you to focus more on knowledge acquisition rather than benefits on the forums.
