Many people have made that mistake not only Wikipedia. What of the guy that sold bitcoin for pizza  Today many still regret some coins that they sold off untimely and the coins now doing well. Some altcoins like Ethereum, binance, litecoin may have left the hands of people at a time they were very cheap. Facebook rejected cryptocurrency ads but won't be surprised what will happen for tomorrow. Change is that constant part of life. Yes we have to treat people better, that's the lesson.

Well, nothing knew that Bitcoin will be like this right? Nobody expected that this cryptocurrency thing will be a big thing after more than a decade?

Its only a matter of trust and what you heard first in the public. If these people who labeled Bitcoin as a scam in 2010 heard that it isn't a scam first then maybe they will not treat it as a scam and vice versa. Just look at the new projects right now and how we see them. This is how people in 2010 sees Bitcoin. They see it as a scam since it is new and its nature of investors to see new project especially if there is money involved that way. Its a bit of regret but it already happened . The only thing that they will do is to move on and do something.

Yes, time change. The first time bitcoin launch, no one have interest with bitcoin and only some people gather in one place and discuss about bitcoin. But soon after bitcoin release at the market and have a price, bitcoin attract more people to know more about bitcoin. The crypto world now evolve to bigger than before and many people now watching the bitcoin price moves while they are trying to make money from bitcoin.

In 2017-2018, bitcoin exploded and make many people out there shock seeing the price reach $20k but then, many people lose faith after seeing bitcoin price is drops to $3k. But in the last year, bitcoin show the power and start new rally and finally, we saw the new ATH at $69k. At that time, people can not believe that in 12 years ago, bitcoin is nothing but now, bitcoin is something.

That many were against bitcoin it was(is) a new system and as a system that brings change there is always the normal reaction to reject and ban. You have to be a little flexible in that thought, that will bring patience in the change process in which bitcoin, as it happens today, is a "currency" or asset accepted.

We always see 2009 as the moment when change began, but the reality, I believe in my personal opinion, this change began to take shape in the 70s years, was strengthened as revolutionary thought in the 80s and continued its development until it reached its peak in the 2009.

If in more than 10 years so much progress then  these times of change are going to decrease, already in five years, the process of penetration of bitcoin in the different areas economic and social will be deeper and so on.

You have to look at this background as a reference of what is being advanced in how it is progressing and in the same example realize that being in this process today as bitcoin users is part of a change, the context of the OP is an example.

What's wrong with it though? Can we not learn from our mistakes and can't they grow up as a platform? I don't think it's not worth ridiculing it or anything like that, bitcoin was the first of it's kind so it's going to definitely get some kind of problem with some people and Wikipedia at that time has a right to believe what they think bitcoin was. Plus, it's a donation, it's not mandatory to pay them in bitcoin and Wikipedia is crowdfunded so they will accept anything just to keep the site alive.

Probably they themselves initially authored it, I don't think there's a particular name out there.
What am thinking happened is probably they authored the bitcoin page, but lost faith and deleted it after they probably saw several reviews online with many people believing bitcoin is a scam, they didn't want to associate themselves with the supposed scam so they deleted it.
But like i said in my post, if only they held unto their faith or probably ignored what people were saying, but then, we can't really blame them, alot of us here made same mistake, I believe alot of us here today came across bitcoin in its very early stage but due to one reason or the other, we didn't take advantage of it, today it's part of our regret.

At the same time this is not the sole article there you can often go and explore about the cryptocurrencies and other things. The p2p network, the history and it's all in there, there are many people who are contributing to the same as well. This is an example of what's happening in most countries as well, at first they were not so keen on accepting bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies and now they want to own their own central bank digital currencies and are legalizing bitcoins, putting taxes on it.

I think it's not far when bitcoins will be integrated with the economy tightly and the government would have to accept and understand that way better than they do now.

You can argue is a case of fake it until you make it. As contradictory as it may seem, wikipedia may be right in both instances. There was a time in the past in which bitcoin could be called a scam and there were some good reasons such as insufficient adoption, untested software and mechanics,... fortunately that has change and it is great to know that WP accepts donations in bitcoin, altough I am not sure how many will get after calling it a scam.

Lesson - if Wikipedia hadn't written off bitcoin as a scam and went ahead to accept it as a form of donation since 2010, alot of people would have donated hundreds of thousands of bitcoins to them back then since bitcoin was almost worth less then, by now, they would have all retired as millionaires and billionaires. And today, they've added bitcoin back as a form of donation, but I will rather donate usd to them than donate my precious bitcoins(my digital gold).

A very regrettable situation that they do have in mind as of these days or years on which if they have just accepted donation into those early times then they might be rich as of this moment
but well in facing up reality then it would neither be a sweet or a stressful one which you couldnt really make yourself get out with those regrets and disappointment.

It is really just the same into those people who had been known or aware of its existence when it doesnt almost have a value and just simply ignore it
but when the time comes then this is where regrets do starts.

We can't blame them because they also had the pressure surrounding them at that time. A lot were labelling bitcoin as scam even if they have no idea about it. Wiki should have just posted facts about bitcoin and what it is all about. But owed to surrounding propagandas against bitcoin, they took it down. And now, with the funny turn of events, they are now accepting bitcoin donations.

Would really be just normal for services or any companies or individuals on having these kind of impressions at first because no one really believes excluding to those who do believe into its potential.

Time change and it is really normal that they would really be changing up their views specially now on how Bitcoin did really make out some significant rise in terms of recognition and attention/popularity.Wont really be surprising that there would be lots of reconsiderations later on or upcoming years to come.

So, this is not surprising anymore if nowadays, they precisely use Bitcoin for donations. Well, interesting.
Thi sis not about trusting or not the donation, but this is about how life is always changing. The struggle of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to be accepted in this world is very hard. Today, there are still many parties that hate Bitcoin and the crypto industry.

It's really a usual and common approach before that Bitcoin is creating doubts, uncertainty, and fears. I also don't blame those big companies or individuals thinking Bitcoin is a scam because that's their own view and we can't control it.

12 years ago the information about Bitcoin was still so minimal that they are very likely to think of it's like an online business (and I remember those days when a lot of things like that boomed and ended in scams.) that always ends up on a scam, nowadays they already easily know what Bitcoin is and the benefits of using and getting it, it's never too late to change if it's a good thing.

At the beginning of the emergence of Bitcoin, of course there were still many people who were unfamiliar with it, moreover the information was also not as much as it is today,

If information is only were going to talk about I think its not a valid excuse to say that there is less information before but they are just lazy. When bitcoin came out I do not think it did not come with the whitepaper and other documents to know if what is its use case and we also have our forum bitcointalk which already established after bitcoin came out.

Online scams were not new but in the beginning of the internet, they already existed. They should not suspected bitcoin too early or shall I say they should not judge the book by its cover. Bitcoin has proven it's worth that's why we are all here today, see every new technology have to face the same thing until it manages to confuse the world, there are few techs before bitcoin that failed years later so it's normal to call BTC scam when it was new.

There are really lots of the same regrets for those who missed the chance of buying or receiving Bitcoin back then but that's just part of the history's opportunity that we have missed. Wikipedia didn't even know that Bitcoin would evolve into a giant currency as it is right now. The heart of human beings is full of doubts. Before a human being would accept something wholeheartedly, you have to clear his conscience beyond every doubt. That's what happened to Wikipedia by then. Nobody to break down to them what bitcoin represents, and the purpose behind bitcoin creation.
I think by then Wikipedia don't believe in bitcoin because of the nature of its "digital currency". They want to be 100% sure about bitcoin before advising humanity to widely accept it

Normal thoughts for people to regret on the decision they made from the past since they actually counting the figures of profit they can possibly get if they didn't have any doubt on bitcoin, Although there's no turning back on all those things still we had something to hold on that there are more great things to happen so for sure those people who doubt about it will think about adopting while the market is still have potential to grow.
