For those of you who don't know, "Times truly Change", this is why we shouldn't write things or people off too early, tomorrow might come with a lot of changes and surprises.

Let me tell you guys a story that relates to the picture above - -

Once upon a time, there was an old woman, one day, she was hungry and felt like eating akidi(akidi is a kind of beans but not actually like the beans we all know), she remembered she had some old akidi stored up somewhere, she located it and brought it out, behold, according to her, the akidi was too bad and can't be cooked and eaten, she called them useless threw them away inside the bush and looked for something else to eat.

The akidi which she threw away all dried up inside the bush due to the sun, eventually, the raining season came, and after a heavy downpour, the akidi began to germinate, they grew and began to bear fruits.
One day, the old woman walked by the bush and sew that behold, there were akidi plants in the bush with good ripe fruits ready to be plucked, the woman being old, could not just walk into the bush in other not to be bitten by poisonous reptiles, so, she had to look for a way to get money, so she could hire some laborers to help her clear the bushes and make the path clean enough so she could access those akidi she ones called useless and threw away., then she thought to herself, "if only I knew earlier, I would have planted this akidi around my compound, by now, I wouldn't have to go through the stress of looking for money to pay labourers to clear the Bush and make the path clean, and again, if I had planted the akidi around my compound, the akidi would have produced more for me to eat now because I would have maintained them properly right from the time they started germinating.

Yes, time change because we have seen many people or countries that rejected bitcoin some years ago and later accepted bitcoin as a decentralized currency in the world. Many people thought bitcoin will not cross 4 years old in the community before it will disappear from the community, but right now bitcoin has crossed 10 years with signs and wonders in the world economy and also to the users in the community.

Those people that rejected bitcoin will definitely accept bitcoin back right now because bitcoin is preparing to rally to $80k through out this year 2022 for many people to have a good interest on decentralized currency .

Satoshi unlike the developers of today never made a presale of coins or anything like that, if you wanted some bitcoin you could mine it with your personal computer so it was basically being given away for free, how so could anyone say that bitcoin was a scam back then?

This is for sure but we can't blame them for labeling bitcoin as a scam before. That was a year where online scams were proliferating and people were still unknown how to determine scams. That's why it's just a normal reaction for them to think of it as a scam.

You got some valid points on here on which as a business or company and in the time you are dealing on something which you arent sure off and the surrounding factors do really have some negative views about it and labelling it directly as a scam then it would really be just normal that you would really be ending up on the same views or impressions which you would really be going with the flow or what the community is been talking into.
There's always a second chance though which it isnt really too late to make out some u-turns just like into those people who hadnt believed bitcoin when it was just starting.

This is something common. Rather than a lesson it is the reflection of human minds. Just think of something new into the world stating it holds value, but it can't be the same as the traditional fiat. During those days people aren't much used to technology. All were depending over the traditional fiat and gold. So, very few will be having an opposite mentality whereas the majority will point it as scam. In such a way Wikipedia have mentioned it a scam.

If things were advanced as now during the year 2010 people will be good enough to understand technology and Wikipedia might've added it to get donations. As the thread title says, it is all about the time. Advancement happens with time, and the change happens accordingly.

That's how people learn. It's hard to know which will bear fruit at the current time, but as long as you know what you are doing and you are not hurting anybody in what you believe in, I think you will be okay. The lost opportunity is the problem with this one, and you cannot turn back time now; all you can do is accept what happened and move on.

They learned and they understand and now they adopt bitcoin.
There are a lot of changes that happened recently, if you will listen to that news the number of countries that have been legalizing bitcoin was increased and big individual and constitutional investors have been invested in Bitcoin. The reason before they criticized Bitcoin is that it is a fraud, Ponzi scheme, or a threat to the financial system which is bad in their view.

But now, look at them, they have changed their mind and accepted bitcoin because they have already learned about it and gained knowledge which is bitcoin has been proven and tested that it can profit in a long run.

Not only Wikipedia, but it also seems the story is the same on Facebook, Youtube, and even Google, they banned Bitcoin before and now, they are fully accepted Bitcoin as payment or to store value.  Before only El Salvador legalized Bitcoin and now the number of Bitcoin adoption has been increased.

The good thing is they understand the technology behind Bitcoin and how it will work, and only foolish thing who think that they can ban or even think to shut down Bitcoin, but instead, adopting it and making wallets that they can regulate users are they usually do.

It was hard to believe on something that popped out suddenly as a form of currency, with what all the jargon that Wikipedia people probably didn't even know or understand about. It's really funny because Bitcoin has since been extensible like a protocol that has bundled together pre-existing capabilities it has along with advanced ideas and hardware to run such apps with extended protocols on top of it. People really don't know the lengths of that until they learn the capabilities of the successive releases of the software but also the innovation that sprung out from transactions on the ledger (Counterparty, Mastercoin/Omni, taproot - (combining multiple sigs into one for more privacy and using less bytes)... Seriously all of these expansions are just the tip. The real fun will be when the automated on-chain value is equivalent to its fiat price and not the aggregation of exchanges being its "price".. people will have their minds blown. I use study and read all these protocols and we have to think of Bitcoin as still being undervalued. Like said earlier people are only thinking about Bitcoin in terms of what they're used to being accepted by others as money - aka fiat. Not the people who write on forums like this with software from before I had pubic hair. But you know what I mean. Even the "price" going up - we all know there's value written into the chain from the entire history of its ledger, we know that one days the tables and fiat rates and aggregator web sites we use won't be reflective of its automatically, machine read "valuation" - much like a company's valluation when someone buys what they believe a company to be worth. Fortunately we do have digital ledgers that scientists corporations and astrophysicists can put into an AI aggregator and it can tell us without ANY latency at a certain point what the value per unit is on this technology and its extended use - we have no clue how far the reaches go but I know that we won't live in a world where we depend on supply and demand and authoritarians telling us in the media and govt what's worth what and what's not worth anything. We are the one's who realize that value has nothing to do with fiat prices in the near future. Fact is - people will be more than happy to directly accept Bitcoin for whatever you want to transact when they stop thinking they need fiat.

But as the moment has come that many people could prove it and makes a lot of money, they had to change and embrace the reality. it wasn't surprising anyway as surely this comes even the leaders of different countries are into that kind of speculations, and gladly, many had changed as well and give their support just like WIKIPEDIA. They'll now know that they are wrong.

Many people have made that mistake not only Wikipedia. What of the guy that sold bitcoin for pizza  Today many still regret some coins that they sold off untimely and the coins now doing well. Some altcoins like Ethereum, binance, litecoin may have left the hands of people at a time they were very cheap. Facebook rejected cryptocurrency ads but won't be surprised what will happen for tomorrow. Change is that constant part of life. Yes we have to treat people better, that's the lesson.

Its only a matter of trust and what you heard first in the public. If these people who labeled Bitcoin as a scam in 2010 heard that it isn't a scam first then maybe they will not treat it as a scam and vice versa. Just look at the new projects right now and how we see them. This is how people in 2010 sees Bitcoin. They see it as a scam since it is new and its nature of investors to see new project especially if there is money involved that way. Its a bit of regret but it already happened . The only thing that they will do is to move on and do something.

Yes, time change. The first time bitcoin launch, no one have interest with bitcoin and only some people gather in one place and discuss about bitcoin. But soon after bitcoin release at the market and have a price, bitcoin attract more people to know more about bitcoin. The crypto world now evolve to bigger than before and many people now watching the bitcoin price moves while they are trying to make money from bitcoin.

In 2017-2018, bitcoin exploded and make many people out there shock seeing the price reach $20k but then, many people lose faith after seeing bitcoin price is drops to $3k. But in the last year, bitcoin show the power and start new rally and finally, we saw the new ATH at $69k. At that time, people can not believe that in 12 years ago, bitcoin is nothing but now, bitcoin is something.

That many were against bitcoin it was(is) a new system and as a system that brings change there is always the normal reaction to reject and ban. You have to be a little flexible in that thought, that will bring patience in the change process in which bitcoin, as it happens today, is a "currency" or asset accepted.

We always see 2009 as the moment when change began, but the reality, I believe in my personal opinion, this change began to take shape in the 70s years, was strengthened as revolutionary thought in the 80s and continued its development until it reached its peak in the 2009.

If in more than 10 years so much progress then  these times of change are going to decrease, already in five years, the process of penetration of bitcoin in the different areas economic and social will be deeper and so on.

You have to look at this background as a reference of what is being advanced in how it is progressing and in the same example realize that being in this process today as bitcoin users is part of a change, the context of the OP is an example.

What's wrong with it though? Can we not learn from our mistakes and can't they grow up as a platform? I don't think it's not worth ridiculing it or anything like that, bitcoin was the first of it's kind so it's going to definitely get some kind of problem with some people and Wikipedia at that time has a right to believe what they think bitcoin was. Plus, it's a donation, it's not mandatory to pay them in bitcoin and Wikipedia is crowdfunded so they will accept anything just to keep the site alive.

Probably they themselves initially authored it, I don't think there's a particular name out there.
What am thinking happened is probably they authored the bitcoin page, but lost faith and deleted it after they probably saw several reviews online with many people believing bitcoin is a scam, they didn't want to associate themselves with the supposed scam so they deleted it.
But like i said in my post, if only they held unto their faith or probably ignored what people were saying, but then, we can't really blame them, alot of us here made same mistake, I believe alot of us here today came across bitcoin in its very early stage but due to one reason or the other, we didn't take advantage of it, today it's part of our regret.

At the same time this is not the sole article there you can often go and explore about the cryptocurrencies and other things. The p2p network, the history and it's all in there, there are many people who are contributing to the same as well. This is an example of what's happening in most countries as well, at first they were not so keen on accepting bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies and now they want to own their own central bank digital currencies and are legalizing bitcoins, putting taxes on it.

I think it's not far when bitcoins will be integrated with the economy tightly and the government would have to accept and understand that way better than they do now.

You can argue is a case of fake it until you make it. As contradictory as it may seem, wikipedia may be right in both instances. There was a time in the past in which bitcoin could be called a scam and there were some good reasons such as insufficient adoption, untested software and mechanics,... fortunately that has change and it is great to know that WP accepts donations in bitcoin, altough I am not sure how many will get after calling it a scam.

Would really be just normal for services or any companies or individuals on having these kind of impressions at first because no one really believes excluding to those who do believe into its potential.

It's really a usual and common approach before that Bitcoin is creating doubts, uncertainty, and fears. I also don't blame those big companies or individuals thinking Bitcoin is a scam because that's their own view and we can't control it.

You would really be counting those imaginable numbers that you might able to profit out if you have just able to invest earlier but as said past is past and nothing could be done but doesnt mean that it is already too late for us to invest even though we cant get 2-3x easily with bitcoin investment but we know that there are altcoins out there which we could utilize those even though the assurance wouldnt really be that high because it would be always basing up with the potential of a certain project.

Wikipedia is a platform that was created for learning, so it was up to them, the team, to do a proper research and know what Bitcoin is all about, and then it is also their responsibility to write a content that would clearly explain what Bitcoin is all about to the people who come to their website to seek for answers.

But, instead they chose to misunderstand it, and wrote it off as a scam because of what majority of the people were saying back then. And even then there were still people who were making use of Bitcoin and they invested in it, I think those people should have been enough reason for them to question whether they made the right choice or not.

Lesson - if Wikipedia hadn't written off bitcoin as a scam and went ahead to accept it as a form of donation since 2010, alot of people would have donated hundreds of thousands of bitcoins to them back then since bitcoin was almost worth less then, by now, they would have all retired as millionaires and billionaires. I can imagine. It would mean that bitcoin would be 1+ million dollars each, there would be a lot more places that accept bitcoin. There would be payment processors, like bitpay type of places but global scale with a ton more work and a lot easier.

There would be apps that you use, from your mobile phone, where you pay for something by reading QR code that the business shows you. Which I do not think that would be any different than using a card and a POS machine, so that would be possible. Yes, many people don't know how it work when it was newly created by Satoshi until they begin to do more research to know more about decentralized currency and how someone can use it to change his business positively in the community. Those countries that rejected bitcoin from their country some years ago came to discovered how other countries are using it to change their economy and to reduced inflation in their country.
