Seriously I really like the idea of gifting your sister with bitcoin on her wedding day, I believe she will definitely appreciate no matter how small it is because from your post, you gave her Ethereum worth 100$ when Ethereum was around $2k dollar so I believe she is in profit already and she will definitely appreciate bitcoin also as a gift from you and I also like where you are also sending the bitcoin to atleast its kind of safe.
Make sure you teach are the basics of hardware wallet since she is not really use to it.

Well, thats an awesome idea. If your sister is aware of what bitcoin is and will be able to take care of it. I guess it would be fine and would be the best gift that you can give to her. It can be prove to be a great value to the newly wed because they can use it in the future.
But if not, it wouldnt make any sense. Thats why you need to consider when giving bitcoin as a gift, make sure that they are interested and willing to engage in it.

The plan is great, just make sure there IS an execution. Many people make plans to give BTC to someone or donate to charity, and then they do nothing and life goes on until they have another plan that's never going to come to fruition. A gift is nothing without some basic knowledge. Make sure your sister doesn't spend it all at once. This gift has a chance to become something life changing if she holds it until the next halving. Chances are we'll be at 300k USD in 2 years.

The first point of the story is a good idea to spread and giveaway cryptocurrencies and especially bitcoin to other people because at first this can be a good investment for them but that's not all because the most important thing about it is getting people familiar with bitcoin and make them start to invest and do research about new technologies and assets such as bitcoin and eth, I would maybe do the same for some family members, however, the good point about your gift is the hardware wallet because you are making her use her own secure private wallet.

Bitcoin is a risky investment so it needs more proper handling and wise management, otherwise it will only go to waste. So if you think your sister can be able to do this despite of the fact that maybe she's busy with her own career too, i think that will give you good assurance. Bitcoin is good and will be a good investment and will create huge profits in the future. Also, if i am your sister, i prefer to have cash at the moment aside from bitcoin so i can benefit it after the marriage and could be a great help in building a new business or the likes because that will mean additional source of income aside from having stable jobs.

That is if bitcoin may not receive a full care right now from your sister because of her personal reasons, i think OP you can still give it as a gift to her in the future. What i mean is, let it grow first from your own wallet because you are more knowledgeable than your sister. When the right time comes that you can see your sister is already ready to engage in crypto, that will be the perfect time to give it to her. For now, i guess cash is more practical than bitcoin since anything she and her husband want to do after the marriage is very possible with enough cash onhand.

By giving bitcoin in the form of a hardware wallet, it also gives a good impression, because it not only provides bitcoin assets in digital form, but there is a tangible form of a hardware wallet which is a symbol as a gift for his younger sister. The hardware wallet provided may have a custom appearance to suit the wedding or give the names of both of them (husband and wife).
The most important thing is that his sister already knows about using a hardware wallet and knows bitcoin so that it can be used properly.

Step 1: Taught her how to use a non-custodial mobile wallet
Step 2: Teaching her how to use a more secure wallet (hardware)

^ Pretty good approach I guess. I hope she will remember the lesson of using those two wallets and not just the crypto inside them Grin

Do you plan to give it to her on the day of the wedding? Maybe consider giving it later because I'm sure she'll get a lot of gifts and the HW could be misplaced.

I guess you might need to read my thread all over again completely regarding her knowledge on non-custodial wallets. But for Step 2, yes I will guide her.
Nothing much there other than her able to save the seed phrase. Not sure how her knowledge is even relevant to step 1 as I can't see anything in your post that indicates she learned how to use non-custodial wallets by herself. Wasn't it you who also introduced Trust wallet to her? That's my assumption on the first one. In cased you missed it, I used taught (past tense) and not teach.

I guess her sister will never take it for granted if she knows how valuable it is at the current, especially in the years to come. Just make sure that your sister has wide knowledge already on how to manage her bitcoin, and not to sell it if its not necessary. And one more thing, i believe long term hodling may not have the full guarantee to make profits in the end, but knowing when to sell it and buy back again will make more profits in the long run than by simply long term hodling. Hopefully, she'll be aware of that.

Not all would really be knowledgeable directly but if she do then he would surely appreciate on what his brother gave into her and would definitely save it up because she does know on what would be its

value in near future compared if she don't have any idea on what it is then it would be surely a big problem of yours yet she would just simply ignore and might able to forget that gift
but if not then curiosity would comes next.

For her soon-to-be husband, he’s not yet a fan of cryptos despite that he’s also introduced into it. He doesn’t have the same “investing” mindset as my sister is. I can’t force him, but maybe one day he’ll send me a message about it hehe.

I think it's difficult for this part, I personally introduce crypto to my husband, it's difficult, if there is no intention to know and find out,
I hope your sister's future husband is not like my husband  Grin

Even if her husband don't agree with the potential of bitcoins and crypto, she should not lose any hope and individually she can save her crypto gift and could even buy more with the help of her brother. She could tell her husband the price of one bitcoin today and then she can again tell her the price after a year or so. Maybe the husband can get impressed by the potential gains in bitcoin investment.

Bitcoin as a wedding gift? A great idea and exceptional skill. According to what you said, Your sister is a girl who openly accepts crypto and has absolute faith in the future of crypto. Wonderful!. I hope the ETH and BTC that you give to her husband and wife in the future will bring great value to them. Once again, congratulations on the wedding of your sister and your family.

Yes if the OP also tells her sister that crypto given as a gift today its value will probably be high in the future, especially if her sister can understand that and prefers to continue saving and adding it little by little as savings that can provide benefits rather than just putting money in a bank whose value will remain the same and even decrease.
Giving crypto as a gift can be a good way to introduce crypto to many people as well by informing them of the security to hold it.

Even though you are considering BTC as a gift, you still need to save a backup copy of the seed phrase without telling them that you have extra copy of it while teaching them the ins and out of bitcoin in general. Becase at some point, people aren't ready enough to appreciate and handle intangible things like crypto (BTC)

Not only that, teach her a good practice in terms of improving her InfoSec to avoid any issues with compromised device, phishing etc..You don't want to feel like shit when your gift turned into a source of regret, no?

Anyhow, wishing your sister a happy marriage!  Smiley
That's the main part which should never be ignored as they might think funds are safe with them on wallet but what if they don't have any backup seed phrase for it? Last time, I gifted my sister some ETH to hold on her Trust Wallet and she plans to keep it for a long time due to her belief that it can go even higher.

Her wedding day was supposed to happen in the final days of December, but it was ruined because of the super typhoon, so it was moved this month. I’m so happy that she can finally walk down the aisle after a successful 10+ year relationship with her fiancee. The wedding is in a beach setting, far away from my city.

Not only I may surprise gift her some BTC, but I’m also planning to give her my unused SecuX V20 hardware wallet (since I only bought it at a special discount in exchange for a non-biased video demo). So I’ll just reset my settings there so that she can create a new account and I’ll teach her step by step since she has no experience yet in using hardware wallets (but already has experience in Trust Wallet and other non-custodial wallets).

After all, I already have Ledger Nano S and SafePal S1. I already educated her the basics about private keys, seed phrases, etc.

I want to congratulate your sister not only on the wedding, but also on such an excellent brother who is not too lazy to teach his sister something new and useful. The more such relatives will be among us, the larger and stronger crypto community will become. I think it's fun to take the first step into crypto world by receiving a gift. Perhaps many of us need to take note of this idea.

Actually she is the one who approached me in the first place and wanted me to teach her because of my results in Bitcoin. A few of my cousins are also into cryptos because of play-to-earn and the then-bull run of Bitcoin.

Her soon-to-be-husband and my upcoming brother-in-law has no problems whatsoever in her investment decisions and other ventures, despite that it's not yet his interest and a career-oriented guy (being a drummer as his side gig of course). Results speak for itself. My sister doesn't need to convince her future husband. Just like me, I didn't convince my family into this opportunity. They only got interested because of my results.

I guess you didn't read and understand my thread completely.

I respect your opinion but why would I be waiting for the future and let it grow on my wallet first if she already knows how valuable it is? She is holding ETH for almost a year now in her own wallet (not mine) and saved her mnemonic phrases, so it's the same thing with BTC. If she has the same mindset like holding ETH for a long time no matter the outcome of the price, expect the same thing with Bitcoin.

It is true that if we are married, in doing something we should have the consent of both parties. But if our husbands don't support investing in Bitcoin,
that doesn't mean we have to stop investing in Bitcoin. Everyone can change their minds, so it's best if we invest in Bitcoin it turns out that our
husbands don't approve of it. Do it secretly first, I think it's okay to hide positive things from our husbands. After the price of Bitcoin is getting
more expensive and the profit we make is also getting bigger, we can slowly explain back to our husbands about the profits we make from investing
in Bitcoin. I'm sure if our husbands see evidence that Bitcoin can really make big profits, then our husbands who think negatively about Bitcoin will
change their views on Bitcoin. Most people who think negatively about Bitcoin, usually those who lack knowledge and have not seen evidence of profit
from Bitcoin directly.

That's a one-packaged gift which she will not have a problem worrying about her BTC getting frozen by some exchanges when there is a problem in their system like for example hacking or any kind of exploits. By giving her that wallet, she can also decide to convert some of her earnings to BTC for a long-term holding. I am a fan of this kind of initiative to promote bitcoins and also I like the fact of giving someone a paper wallet with bitcoins inside so that they can have some idea and knowledge on how to withdraw it or keept it for themselves.

The existence of bitcoin is now familiar and not confusing, and if anyone wants to plan on giving a certain amount of bitcoins to anyone for a special day or whatever that's a great idea. Because from time to time bitcoin is getting more popular and more and more people know.

and the OP's idea is not the first time there is, the important thing is that you can tell in more detail about bitcoin and how to transact and use it, because after you give a wedding bitcoin gift to your sister bitcoin because it will be hers and it's up to her what she wants to do.
and once she enjoys the benefits I'm sure she and her husband will get involved and your good point is that you're just bringing your sister into crypto, and it's a very simple little way of adoption that will spread widely. Because there's a chance he'll do the same thing, maybe in a different way.

those who are lay and new to what crypto is indeed difficult to introduce. They think they don't want to spend their money in vain just to invest in crypto which has a high risk. knowledge of crypto should be given slowly, should set an example like making some investments. Early education is very important so that they don't just think negatively about crypto.

But i guess OP's sister has already a little knowledge about crypto that's why he never hesitate to give her bitcoin. But i suggest OP, maybe your sister will be more willing to accept fiat this time as they can use it to start their own family. Bitcoin is good and definitely a great investment, but the fact that its not accepted yet as a medium of exchange in most countries, then its hard for them to spend it like in emergency cases without converting it to fiat first. Also, its always better if you can hand them both, so just think of it OP.
