According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

There hasn't been a block in over an hour, so that's what is holding this up.

I was told that the average is about 10 minutes but it can take longer depending on how soon the next block is solved in the chain.

So, I would like to turn the 5 USD I got into BTC. Is there a way to do that from the site, or do I have to withdraw the 5 USD and turn it into BTC myself?

Just make a bid for $5 worth of bitcoins. You can buy 5 BTC at 1 USD or 10 BTC at 0.50 USD.

some questions: is there a way to view the outstanding order book? are orders filled instantly and automatically (like they are on mtgox), or is there a periodic cron job?

is there a way to view the outstanding order book? Not currently but it will be added soon. are orders filled instantly and automatically (like they are on mtgox), or is there a periodic cron job? Trades are currently executed every 5 minutes. If more people prefer it another way, I'm open to suggestions.
