What is the limit of Activity points every two weeks?

I thought 14 was the limit.  But I earned over 30 in the last week and to my surprise the count only keeps increasing.  I read the pinned thread three times but still couldn't wrap my head around it.  Theymos says here the maximum you can earn is 1 per day, which still means 14 every two weeks.   Am I missing something?

It depends on how many activity period you were active.
Imagine you were active in two different activity period and posted once in each activity period. You are eligible to get 28 activities. Now, if you have posted in a lot of different activity periods for one/two or as many time as, you are eligible for YOUR ACTIVITY PERIOD*14 activities. I hope it is clear now.

He didn't say the maximum you can earn a day is 1, you can earn more than 1 activity a day, you get 1 activity if you make at least 1 post on average a day and at most 14 activity in two weeks.

Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.

Your account was registered on the 8^th of May 2021 which happen 2 days after the new period on the 5^th of May 2021^[1]. So you had the chance to make 14 activity before the new period. If you have been active from then till now, you would have gotten a 24 period equivalent to 336 (24*14) activity but were not active in some periods.

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Your activity is equal to the lowest out of the following two numbers:

• The number of two week periods you have posted in multiplied by 14
• The number of posts you have made

Let's assume you have made 30 posts in a two week period. Your activity is now the lowest between (1*14) and 30, and so will be 14.
In the next two week period, you make 1 post. Your activity is now the lowest between (2*14) and 31, and so will be 28. You have gained 14 activity despite only making 1 post.
In the next two week period, again you make only 1 post. Your activity is now the lowest between (3*14) and 32, and so will be 32. You have gained 4 activity despite only making 1 post. Your maximum allowed activity now will be 42, which you could gain if you made 10 more posts.

Essentially, every two week period you post in adds 14 to your maximum allowed activity, even if you only make a single post. You can then "collect" that potential activity by posting more in subsequent two week periods, or from additional uncounted posts from previous two week periods.

For instance, your post count is 200 but your activity is only 28. To get another 14 activity you will only need to make one post in the new period and you will then have a total of 42 activity.

If I am not wrong a long way back there was an site which shows the potential activity number of an bitcointalk account but today its not existing even I don't remember the name of the site. But its simple you get 14 activities even if you post a single post in the 14 day time period but the activity on you account only increase according to your post count if the potential activity is higher than your post count.

This could confuse some members who are not very familiar with how activity points are counted in relation to posts.
You get 14 potential activity if you posts at least once within an activity period, not the full activity points. Also, activity points will only increase if you are actually active and posting and not simply cause your potential activity is higher than your post count

Back in the time, when there were no merits, potential activity number was a matter of interest but after the merit system implementation, activity does not matter much as almost 95% of the people will have the activity but not the merits to rank up. By the time, they get the required merits, they already have exceed the activity and posts requirements by far. The only thing in which people are interested these days are the merits.

I read your reply and it interests me. But I am not sure what I understood is actually what you meant. Permit me to say it the way I understood, and see if it's actually what you meant.

But due to I didn't make sufficient post, my activity will remain 1 (+13 unclaimed). Then, I wait again for another 14days and drop a post, I will have two activity (+13 and 13 unclaimed). So, after 1 month, if I begin to post frequently, I am entitled to 13+13 activity?

Yeah that's how activity works. You need 1 post from a single activity period to be eligible for 14 activities in the later time. And by any chance, if you got all post deleted from a single activity period, you will be down 14 activities once again

Exactly, you understand it correctly even though it is explained quite clearly in this quote.

Anyway I seem to agree with @ShowOff with his suggestion. The OP just needs to read more if he wants to know more about the forum and its rules. There are unofficial rules, how activity work, rankings, and also a merit system. I'm not forbidding users from creating a new thread for every issue they want to know an explanation for, but it's much better if they're willing to read a thread relevant to the issue.

That’s because you can recover past Activity if you posted at least a single post within a given two week Activity Period.

Over the last couple of weeks, you are making over 14 posts within the current activity window. That means that the surplus of posts these last few weeks allows you to regain Activity that was parked by right in those prior activity periods with less posts than 14 in the Activity window, and that you are now reclaiming implicitly by posting more these days.
