When Intel shared their demo for their first gen Bitcoin miner a lot of people were not impressed with their stats as the current miners performed better.

But recently the stats for the second gen miners from Intel have been released and they are much better, making them a great competitor against the current miners.

Intel already has three large customers that will be getting these second gen miners: BLOCK, Argo Blockchain, and GRIID Infrastructure. It's been said that each miner costs $5,625. Probably at volume discount, but still, that price is around half of what you have to pay for a miner with those specs right now from other companies.

Given that Intel already has contracts for at least a couple of years, it's safe to say that we will be seeing more of these miners in the future, making the mining industry a bit more competitive than what it is today.

Bitmain Antminer S19j XP       21.5 J/TH   140 TH/s   3010 W
Intel Bonanza Mine 2 (BMZ2)   26 J/TH   135 TH/s   3510 W(speculated)

still behind bitmain
also intels version eerily looks too similar to bitmains design.

you would have thought intel would make something atleast a little aesthetically pleasing and different design to bitmain

True, although Intel miner is about half of the price.

also the price is also speculated.

It's amazing what Intel did with this second generation Bitcoin miner and this would be much bigger news in different circumstances.
Now it's time for AMD to get in the race to try and make better chip for Bitcoin mining, this is how we can make much faster improvements.
It would be better for decentralization to have multiple sources of asic machines and chips, especially during chain supply issues.

I'm betting Intel will have a higher build quality and better support team as well.  Their experience in chipmaking along with their deep pockets and industry relationships with manufacturers all the way down to retailers should allow them to rise to the top of the competition pretty quickly.  By the time they're selling miners to us peasants I'm sure they'll be offering a better product than Bitmain and keeping their wide price advantage.  How long this will take is probably anyone's guess, but if I were to throw one out, I'd say within 3 years we will all have the opportunity to purchase a top of the line product at an affordable price from Intel or more likely a retailer carrying their products.

Hi, have seen a lot of controversy in the mining community regarding price. Have you got the price?

They seem to have quoted their large clients $5,625 per miner for the second gen, at large volumes pricing probably. Still no mention of consumer price per miner.

did you see the presentation of their BMZ1 rig.
its like a mirror of a s19

can you spot the difference

To be fair, that was built for a demo at a conference, it was not intended to be a consumer product. Basically they created the chip, and they did a quick enclosure to make it work.

The second gen should include a properly done enclosure. We'll see later on this year how it looks.

to be fair i do accept its a prototype.. but to also be fair. when the first ipod was announced at a conference it didnt look like a sardine tin of aluminium, rivets and screws

yes i think the possible answers are:
1. intel dont care much for design, and care more for function
2. they know their customer base is not looking for aesthetics
3. intel wanted it to look like an asic and not like a shiny gamer desktop PC

but still. id have thought intel would have put a little more effort in especially for an announcement/demo/presentation. even just embossing their logo into a panel.. for demo/presentation purpose..
but it was the eerily like an s19 mirrored that lead me to being initially skeptical about how genuine tomshardware was about the details.

imagine if tesla's first car was a sardine tin on wheels... oh wait

Ahh they fucked it up bigly.

They could have sold a 45th machine that does 20 watts a th. (down clock)

listed it at 1500 usd and flooded the market.

Oh well.

instead another 3500 watt hog that is not quite as good as the s19xp

Perhaps. The bigger question is, will they sell bare chips to all comers and let others design for their target markets? Wink

Sidehack could do wonders with it...  Cheesy

It's been said that each miner costs $5,625. Probably at volume discount, but still, that price is around half of what you have to pay for a miner with those specs right now from other companies.

In case this is true that it is costing at lest 50% less compared to other top choices for a mining rig, then there is a big chance that Intel can be cornering a big share of the demand for Bitcoin miner. And I am assuming that they are projecting to do a good volume of business in Western countries especially in the USA and maybe even cornering the future demand in El Salvador. Glad to see more players in the Bitcoin mining equipment industry so as to lower the price opening up more opportunities to interested individuals and organizations.

dont get too exited about the 50%
bitmain can easily drop their cost too.
the reason they sell so high is.. because they can... but if there was a competitor. they would drop the price, else lose demand

there is a reason bitmain ask for 35% early. because thats more inline with the actual cost of making the asic. so they can easily drop the price and still profit
and by the time they have got some batches out, they probably will

It's amazing what Intel did with this second generation Bitcoin miner and this would be much bigger news in different circumstances.
Now it's time for AMD to get in the race to try and make better chip for Bitcoin mining, this is how we can make much faster improvements.
It would be better for decentralization to have multiple sources of asic machines and chips, especially during chain supply issues.

Or Samsung...

Ahh they fucked it up bigly.

They could have sold a 45th machine that does 20 watts a th. (down clock)

listed it at 1500 usd and flooded the market.

Oh well.

instead another 3500 watt hog that is not quite as good as the s19xp

They've stated that their intent is to bring a "ultra-low voltage miner" to the market.  I haven't looked at the stats of this one very much, but it doesn't seem to me from the power usage that it has "ultra-low voltage" as a selling point.  I still assume that it will be a while before they're selling a consumer product, but when they do I imagine they will flood the market with something much more energy efficient and customized to take advantage of the benefits that would come along with an "ultra-low voltage miner" such as potentially less need for cooling making the device quieter and able to fit different form factors.

I am with you though.  Efficiency and underclocking beats overclocking any day of the week.

Or Samsung...
Samsung is fine for other things and they are maybe than AMD but they are not real competition for Intel chips for Bitcoin mining.
AMD and Intel are both producing not just microprocessors but motherboards, servers, and other computer related hardware.
I think Samsung is more focused on chips for mobile devices than for computers, but this could change in future.
