Chainex locked my account and ask for verification,
when I do so they still refuse to unlock my account, the reason is because I have a mistake in the spelling of my name.

Now all my coins are lost, I hope nobody else will experience that.

I think ChainEX.io is a South African cryptocurrency exchange, I couldn't see the exchange on Coinmarketcap but it was on Coingecko.

Chainex locked my account and ask for verification,
It is a centralized exchange, what do you think the exchange will do if they see anything suspicious? You will have to get verified and your coins will be released.

Where was the mistake? On the documents or when you were filling the name on the website?

They should be able to make you verify again if it's just a spelling error.

I think the exchange is reputable.

They should be able to make you verify again if it's just a spelling error.

I don't know the exchange and I don't know if it has a good reputation or not, but it seems to me that the OP has rushed to accuse of scamming for what could be a routine procedure when the name given when you register on the site does not match the legal documentation.

Chainex locked my account and ask for verification,
when I do so they still refuse to unlock my account, the reason is because I have a mistake in the spelling of my name.

Now all my coins are lost, I hope nobody else will experience that.

If you want us to start thinking that it really is a scam, the less you provide evidence such as screenshots and more step-by-step details of what happened.

First of all you should explain why they lock your account that result for your verification because that will be your main point to proceed on this scam accusation. The later reason for still freezing your account after you submit your ID is valid because your name is wrong spellingwhich is the main purpose of KYC to ensure that your details will match to your exchange details. This is not new on Centralized exchange and actually the most common issue of this kind of exchange because of its nature for being regulated and binded by the AML.

I believe you can still fixed this if the mistake in the spelling is not that far. What is the last comment of the support to your case?

3.9 When you create a ChainEX account, you agree to: (a) create a strong password that you do not use for any other website or online service; (b) provide accurate and truthful information;
-snip-

8.1.3 Provide false, inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information;
Calling the exchange is scam because you've a mistake by providing inaccurate information on your account is wrong. Almost centralized exchanges do ask the users to provide truthful information, you as a clients doesn't have choice except accept their TOS. If you breaking their TOS, then you shouldn't mad with their decision either freeze your account or might terminated your account. If you don't like CEX, use DEX.

Though I don't know the reputation of chainex, but they aren't wrong in this matter.

How do you tell if it's reputable?
It's my first time hearing about the exchange.
Just using an exchange listed on Coingecko to say an exchange is reputable is truly not totally accurate, I can not say if it is actually. An exchange can be shady even if listed, but also not yet listed on Coinmarketcap. But AutomaticTrading (that created this topic) says he made a mistake, which means we can not blame the exchange yet. I wanted to search how reputable the exchange is and it brought up what I posted above on this thread, I think I have to change that to neutral as I have not used the exchange before and I do not know how trustworthy they are.

Before reading your post I had never heard of chainex.io therefore decided to take a look at their website. I noticed they are probably using an older version trading engine for their exchange but their terms and condition clearly list they are a registered company in South Africa. The names and photographs of the prominent people within the company are listed.

In general terms, there is no reason to suspect there is anything untoward going on by the company but that takes on to the issue of your funds being withheld. If you gave the company one name when signing up and trading and then gave them another name when sending KYC then that automatically will raise red flags and points of concern as well a suspicion.

Without knowing how many letters of the name are different and how many names were spelt wrong, it would be difficult to judge if chainex.io have been overtly harsh to you or not. You have to accept you have yourself to blame here but if there is a just a small error then maybe the company can be contacted asking them to deal with you in a more human level rather than just in an automated manner.

Chainex locked my account and ask for verification,
when I do so they still refuse to unlock my account, the reason is because I have a mistake in the spelling of my name.

Now all my coins are lost, I hope nobody else will experience that.

You have to post evidence that you had an account there and that it had a balance. Like scans showing also their web address or name. Hide sensitive information. You have to explain better if you faked your name or it was just a mistake on one letter as said. On both cases they cant keep your money. They can only ask for evidence that you are the real owner and maybe collect a fee for the time they will lose reviewing your case because of your mistake.

From the looks of things, it would seem OP had his issue resolved, as he never came back to give us updates on what's going on. His problem probably got rectified, and he got his funds back.

A bitter user who has been scammed would keep checking the thread and try to prove how he has been scammed with timely updates

Often I see allegations against new exchange that I never heard before. I am quite curious why people choose non-reputed exchange? Is there something special than a reputed and well-known exchange? And after happen a problem they blame and create allegations that we can't help anymore. If they ask here before depositing their funds we may take a look and leave a review.

I am not familiar with the exchange, try to contact them even on social media and ask for help. Take a lesson from here, they are the ones who can help only. Be careful before choosing an exchange.

Don't know about this exchange. I keep thinking about the basis on which you deposit your money in these websites. Because there are so many good popular exchanges in the crypto market, it is not good news to be a victim of scams in such exchanges. Although the domain registration of this exchange is old, the website has not been created for a long time.

when I do so they still refuse to unlock my account, the reason is because I have a mistake in the spelling of my name.
How different the name you provided is from the name on your official documents? If we are talking about one or two characters then this shouldn't be a problem since it's common to misspell proper nouns especially if it's in a language different than the language the exchange uses. Normally, you can sort this out simply by contacting the exchanges customer support and explain to them what happened.
If the names are completely different then you are at fault here and you can be accused of trying to use a fake identity.
Not sure how legit this service is, but for the moment, only them can help you recover your funds.
Do they have an announcement thread or an official representative on this forum?
