I can still remember there was a subscription campaign in this forum for the cryptotalk platform. That BTC paid campaign create quite hype in the forum which was managed by yahoo if I am not mistaken. But what happens to that site now. I did create an account on that platform but left after some time. They spend a good amount of BTC to attract users to their platform. Is there anyone who still uses that platform? That platform remains so spammy or it's better now?

Sorry if this is not the right section to post this but I was uncertain about where I should create this topic so I post it here.

How about you find out for yourself, especially since you already have an account there. I haven't heard anything about that forum, or maybe I've missed a lot.

Maybe in meta or off-topic?

But this's some of statistic the forum:

The site was full of spammers, I do not know about the Russian section but the English section was full of spam posters. Only two ection exists on the forum which are English and Russian sections. The English posters were stop being paid since over a year ago and they are not still paid up till now, the English section is not active again.

Only Russian section are paid, they double the payment for Russians when English posters were not paid again.

Oh my god, I haven't thought about cryptotalk in quite a while--and I do remember writing some posts about it back when they had that campaign running that OP referenced.  They did pay for posts for a while, but the messed up thing was that the payment got credited to a Yobit account that you had to create IIRC, so you had to become associated with that shitty exchange.  My guess is that they were hoping people would blow their earnings gambling on shitcoins and ghostcoins (fictitious "coins" that only exist on Yobit and don't have a blockchain).  No doubt a good number of them did just that.

See, the failure of cryptotalk just goes to show you that bitcointalk is very well-regulated for being a site where a lot of members get paid to post.  Cryptotalk failed because they siphoned off the dregs of this forum, the worst posters and the people least motivated to post because they're actually interested in whatever the subject of a thread is.

I remember reading some threads on cryptotalk, and it was absolutely obvious that nobody knew what the hell they were talking about.  On top of that, there was so much plagiarism that it was laughable.

The fact that we are not hearing about so much anymore it speaks volumes. The posting campaign attracted spammers  from all works of life, and we all know what spammers wanted. They wanted the sats, as soon as the reduced or stopped paying the sats, that was it.

I think this topic should be in the service discussion board

I also left that platform by seeing lots of spamming all over the platform. But that platform is run by Yobit exchange? Actually i am confused about what that project team trying to do. First they spent BTC for their site promotion then everything seems halted. They stop rewarding English's board instead of maintain spammers. They gave up the development of their platform or their goal was already achieved and now its just a skeleton!

When first time i saw that platform i was quite hopeful about their future and accept those spamming by thinking it as a early problem and will be resolved slowly.

Maybe in meta or off-topic?
I know the main gist of this thread is cryptotalk, but since it'd be great to talk about the differences between that failure of a forum and this one, I'd prefer to keep it in Meta where it'll be seen and commented on.

In all honesty, I'd never heard of that platform. I guess it was popular before my time.

There was never a snowball's chance in hell that shitshow of a forum was going to compete with bitcointalk; it was just a vehicle for Yobit to promote their newest scams, which at the time consisted of the Investbox and whatever else they had going.

There was someone a few years ago who was going to, or actually did, create a forum where the main feature was that people were going to be paid to post.  There was a thread about it and I made a few comments predicting its failure and why it would fail, etc.  I'd have to go back way far in my post history to find that, but it's there somewhere.  Anyway, guess what?  It turned out to be an unsustainable business model and it failed.

If you come here and say "Hey guys, c'mon over to our forum and we'll pay you to post!", the only people who are going to sign up are the ones who are so incompetent at writing that they can't get accepted into anything other than a lousy altcoin bounty, if that.  As I said, it's like scraping the disgusting crust off the bottom of the fish tank that is bitcointalk and having that be your core membership.  It's a given that the results ain't gonna be pretty.

OP, here's a clear guide to moving topics.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265053.0

I have observed several times on that forum that information is simply copied from our forum and transferred there. Although the moderators write that they are very strict about plagiarism, nevertheless, there is no unique information there. Posts were simply paraphrased and later transferred there in large numbers.
It took me a few days to make sure that all the accounts that are called cheaters here have moved there in unison.

their forum was never popular and I'm sure the people who post there are only interested in their "pay per post". you would have seen their signature campaign for cryptotalk if YOBIT didn't sneakily change their signature to advertise their exchange instead of their forum.

Was that forum supposed to compete with bitcointalk?
even if it were I don't think it will stand a chance, and to be honest I feel like they only created that forum so they could easily advertise their exchange site since their reputation here in the forum is extremely bad.

As what I remember and saw, the topics there are just duplicates from this forum, keeping in mind that it was a pay per post, a spam is obviously piled up. After the campaign stops the website turns dead and become ghost like it was only created for the pay per post campaign, and nothing much more happen, just a waste of money.
Well, it was made from yobit funds -> from their shit token scams, it will be considered as not a loss to them.

I was thinking the reason for cryptotalk forum was to promote yobit, the exchange is shady, there are many ways to lose on the exchange, especially if you are trading high marketcap coins with shit coins, this can cause a trader to lose all the money he used for the trading. I remember some coins on the exchange, promising 10x daily return, another is a coin that promise 100x daily return, there are many other shit coins like that.

The first risk of the exchange is to trade high marketcap coin to buy shit coin, almost all your money can be lost because of this, but people that are on the exchange that have been scammed like that before know that they should first convert the high marketcap coin first to coins like doge or USDT and then convert it to the shit coin, but newbies are scammed.

The second risk is when the coin is converted to, the shit coin like X10 that promise 10x daily return or X100 that promises 100x daily return. If someone invest on these coins and many other coins on Yobit, the more the person will be losing daily as people are dumping the coin. Yobit is an exchange that is very shady. It would have been better if the bitcoin they pay are sent to a noncustododial address that individual will provide, but I notice cryptotalk wanted control.

their forum was never popular and I'm sure the people who post there are only interested in their "pay per post". you would have seen their signature campaign for cryptotalk if YOBIT didn't sneakily change their signature to advertise their exchange instead of their forum.

Many spammers there do copy a topic here and paste on that for for the sake of farming more satoshi. And that's a huge mistake they made because there users is not generally there to support them and all of people who try to use that forum is just for the pay per post.

Yobit made this forum because they are struggling to launch their campaign here because there reputation is so bad and I guess they didn't earn anything for doing this method because I think they fail by looking at their current status as well with the forum they created.

I completely forgot about this forum, I haven't heard anything about it for a while. Yobit spend huge money for promotion on Bitcointalk and their own forum, but it was obvious that such things can't last forever. Fact that we don't hear talks about Yobit forum probably means that's not possible to earn decent money there anymore. From quick glance, it's not ghost forum yet, but it's not very active.

Only Russian section are paid, they double the payment for Russians when English posters were not paid again.
I'm a bit lazy to check their forum, so I ask here: do they in BTC or in some Yobit token? And what is payment rate per post? When everything just started, they had really decent payment rates IIRC.

Cryptotalk became the talk of the town only when it was still promoted here. By the time the promotion was gone, the talk about that YoBit-owned forum was also gone. But I admit nobody could forget its presence here. Users wearing their signature used to be everywhere. But what do you get really from registering on that platform? Bitcointalk may be called bitcointalk but you could discuss anything about crypto here, even other than crypto, so why would you shift to or create an account in another platform?

I've given it a try at start. The pay was .. peanuts, there was no difference between spam and useful posts, actually the amount of spam was literally huge and nobody cared, I've seen same answers over and over again, I've seen tutorials copied from ... everywhere... it was a frenzy of posting just everything for the sake of it, .. building fast into a sad pile of thrash.

Afterwards I think that they started watching for spam, but I heard that they actually were favoring Russian spam while removing most of the rest.
I don't know, I didn't waste time there since the early beginning; it was nothing organized enough nor useful enough; the pay alone can't fix that.

I can still remember there was a subscription campaign in this forum for the cryptotalk platform.

I have a hard time recalling that platform the first time I read it until you mentioned spammy because it is really spammy and the administrators of that forum just wasted money on useless topics and too much spam and redundant discussion

Actually i tried to report some spammer of that forum when i was using it in early days. But administrators didn't care about it and i got negative 5 mark from that spammers. But their russian section is still active so i think there are still some users who use that platform who are mostly from russian section.

Sorry if this is not the right section to post this but I was uncertain about where I should create this topic so I post it here.

It's about Cryptotalk.org. The forum still exists, but it looks like the project's intentions have failed.
I remember that at the beginning some dust was paid on this forum for posting, so the traffic there was very high because spam was just intergalactic.  Grin Grin

I search a bit but I couldn't find the campaign you talking about it seems that yahoo change the thread just to avoid discussion about Cryptotalk.
But it seems I found the thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5188047.0

The only problem is that it's a Yobit campaign, not Cryptotalk until I check it on archive.org the old version is Cryptotalk.org

I created an account before with Cryptotalk receive some airdrop to my Yobit account the weird thing is that it was in yobit investBox that can't able to withdraw. So I stop using them until I open my Yobit account again with that airdrop but the problem is that the token price drops a lot and is not worth exchanging.

If you are planning to join in their own campaign in Cryptotalk better look for another source.

You remind me of this guy, he fell victim and said something about Cryptotalk.org and yobit.

Looks like you should read a lot about them before doing anything there.
Cryptotalk.org Attractive offers provided by scammers.
Quote
That's really true scammers have a lot of ways to steal the assets of the users. Members should be aware on that. Many sites born in internet now then copying the system of legit sites to manipulate and lead the users to their fake accounts and convince members to registered them. But they have a remark to lead us that they are the scammers like asking our bank accounts and other accounts like yobit, blockchain etc. So before to decide do some investigate to be satisfy us

You definitely don't want to cry in the future, when your money is gone, maybe not many people use their current platform, after they know, even if some use it, maybe they don't know its reputation and how it works in serving customers.

Actually i was talking about the the signature campaign which was held in this forum and managed by yahoo. They spent a good amount of BTC that time which was probably funded by Yobit exchange.

Of course, it was funded by YoBit exchange because Cryptotalk was owned by YoBit exchange. That is why it was a controversial signature campaign because everybody knew that the owner of Cryptotalk was YoBit, which was known to be a scammer exchange. Of course, the campaign did not promote YoBit itself but knowing that it is another project of YoBit even if it is separate from the exchange, there was a dilemma of whether it is totally excused from being branded as a scam as well.

I don't know how much they spent on it but I know that YoBit is still earning more than enough to be able to fund a huge campaign here.

The site is still up used to be a member of that forum, but the admins are biased they favored Russian members of their forum, they even diable payment of the English section to favor their Russian board, the forum is full of spam even if they have hundreds of moderators they cannot keep up with the number of spammers on their forum, this forum will soon be gone, until now they have a bland template they should have picked SMF like Bitcointalk for good users experience.

Most of the users are probably heavily invited from this forum for the sake of intensive each post. But I'm not sure they got some established members too which makes the forum atmosphere more interesting to explore, especially if the incentives are currently restricted to certain subforum sections only.

Their statistics show that online users are currently no more than 200 people who are mostly just guests.

This space for rent.

I saw Russians section is mostly active. May be their pay rate dropped or no one is interested on their offers. They just wasted their money or may be it was never their intention to build's up a forum. At least that is what i have learnt from other members comments. But the conclusion indicates to one platform for the responsibility of whatever they were intent to do and that is yobit.

If you are aware of Yobit behavior in Cryptocurrency you'll know that they just want more clients or traders to their platform, they used to launch a lot of airdrops, then NFT and farming, they thought they can duplicate or imitate Bitcointalk's success but their reputation betrays them, you cannot attract good posters on a platform that is being managed by scammers.

I'm wondering, why would somebody who already knew about Bitcointalk create an account on Cryptotalk? Or, why would somebody who is already aware that Cryptotalk is owned by YoBit open an account there? I surmise posting there is somehow incentivized? This must also be the same reason why spammers are flooding that forum despite hundreds of moderators who are tasked to maintain the quality of discussions.

When the forum was launched they are paying members for every post and its unlimited post you can earn unlimited here and the highest posters of that time will get a huge reward I can't remember the amount I think it's $1000 worth of Bitcoin, because of this people created a lot of accounts and started to spam the forum with useless topics, they have to bad some countries because of this because they cannot keep up anymore.

The site or forum is still up but it's forgettable for so many reasons like it's a platform created by Yobit the admins are biased toward members, they favored the Russian board, they are deceitful, and cannot keep their promise, so many members of that forum are made to believe that they will be paid but after completing the number of posts they only choose who will get.

This forum is not up to the standard of Bitcointalk I prefer to call it the house of spam because they encourage spamming and the moderators are all biased.

Man you brought back some blast from the past for me -- Yobit! I was like any other fool in 2016, holding bags of silly alts that couldn't be traded anywhere else (and though Cryptopia died a couple of years later or so, it was already problematic before then)... and Yobit "saved" me. Cryptotalk spammers I remember a lot too, didn't know they paid to Yobit.

I think the only other forum ever worth going to back then was Bitcoin Garden -- wasn't like there was anything Bitcoin useful there but a lot of altcoin devs hanged out there -- and back then, at least not everyone was an ICO-mongering turd.

Even when bitcoin.com had the money and the people, they couldn't turn their forum into a viable competitor.

And to think that Cryptotalk wasn't probably delivering any decent revenue to the YoBit team at all, they had to put a stop to it or else they would be continuously milked by spammers who do not in any way elevate the quality of the forum nor of its discussions, and who couldn't care less about its fate.

I think that is why they have already stopped paying for English posters, but their Russian thread is still open and active. Maybe they are keeping that forum alive for any future promotion, or there could be another attempt from Yobit to fool people through that platform.

I think the only other forum ever worth going to back then was Bitcoin Garden -- wasn't like there was anything Bitcoin useful there but a lot of altcoin devs hanged out there -- and back then, at least not everyone was an ICO-mongering turd.

I do have one account on Bitcoin Garden and Altcointalk too but i can see only Altcointalk survived till now. Though they are not nothing like Bitcointalk but they still have some users.

In all honesty, I'd never heard of that platform. I guess it was popular before my time.
Was that forum supposed to compete with bitcointalk?

Yes it was, but I remember people talking about it on bitcointalk and about the chances of it succeeding and be at least as good as btctalk but almost everyone agreed that there was no way it could, bitcointalk been around but so long and people got used to it and got high ranks on it, no reason for them to switch and start from scratch.

yes the site  exist but it gives favor to the Russians.
I have read in other forums that they sometime block payments from the English members - but this is so strange - business is business - whatever source it come from one should accept it.

It used to be a paid to post forum but due to massive users and abusers they have already stopped the campaign.

It seems their target users are Russians.

Am not sure if I remember that Cryptotalk forum now. Hope what am going to say is not off topic but the discussion reminds me of another site that begged members here to register on their forum and get paid with Ethereum for posting. That was Moonforum. It was a buzz here during that time because the payment from it was very good. That site does not exists anymore now too. The bounty manager for that site scammed the site and made away with funds escrowed to him and that was how everything scattered.

That's a bad slogan their users will literally take that slogan and just post just to earn bitcoin, they should have made their slogan Make good posts and earn Bitcoin, they just want posters, not quality posters, I used to be a member there they used to have a contest on the most number of post on their launching month and the poster with the most posts wins 1 Bitcoin, this is how the forum turn into a spam forum because they concentrate on quantity, not on quality, now they are out of business because they cannot keep stopping their members from spamming.

Yes. The users were making garbage articles to get paid without any effort. It was just a matter of time before they put an end to this experiment.
I see that some new members are still signing up, but as far as I can see, the activity has dropped drastically compared to what it used to be.
